Come along with Eric O. at the SMA shop as he has to work on his own vehicle! Yes even his stuff needs attention once in a while. In this video he shows how to replace the front brake pads and rotors on his 2013 Toyota Tundra TRD 5.7 4x4. These trucks use a 4 piston brake caliper and are unique in that sense. We use all OEM parts (Made in USA) and show how to clean lubricate and install them. Enjoy!!

Thank you for the Tundra brake video. I'm not a natural mechanical person but I try to do what I can, or actually what I have confidence to try. Your video was the most helpful to give me confidence to do my own brake job.
BIG THANK YOU ERIC from Connecticut USA . I couldnt get the pistons pushed in with my regular tool. The vise grip hack woorked great. You saved me some $$ from buying a special tool. Also I got m y2018 Tundra Krowned( Rust Proofed) at Gillies in New Hampshire .Truck has been 3 years rust free ever since. Best Advice Iv'e gotten in a long time. Guys like YOU make You Tube FN Awesome!!
Thanks man
Just ran down to Toyota today and picked up OEM front Rotors and pads with shim kit for my 07 FJ Cruiser. Thank you for showing how to fit the shims to the pads really helpful information. 👍🏻 I hope you and your family are well. 🙂
I love your channel sir and I’m planning on buying a tundra 2013 myself. Has it been reliable for you and do you still have jt
Would love to see more Tundra videos, especially the transmission service. Did you do one and I just missed it?
Show the rear brakes on these . Those are the real PITA. Show how to install an aftermarket rotor by grinding off that tint ridge that protrudes too far so it squeaks and drags constantly. I used a 4.5” grinder to do one and it worked beautifully. It did take some fooling around to figure out where it was dragging though
Just did mine after my truck repeatedly locking up on the highway and the lower caliper piston closest to the hub would not compress it was seized open.
I have a 2017 Tundra CC. I have a recurring problem with warping or uneven front rotors. What would you recommend for a replacement? I have heard that the dealer rotors are somewhat not as good as aftermarket.
"14 MPG, need all the efficiency you can get". Lol. Thank you for another informative video. TU
Please service your Toyota auto trans. We need to know the best procedure.
You ever get a squeaky noise after installing brakes? did everything as seen in your video and watched a few others, but I keep getting a squeaky noise when I drive down the road. it goes away when I push the brake pedal down but it comes right back.
I'm getting strong Jonathan Hillstrand vibe from Eric's voice and speech patterns.
Eric, those pads pass Maryland state inspection
10k miles left on them pads
More tundra videos please!!!!
I dig the Toyota maintenance! I’d love to see you work on my 4Runner.
Very Helpful.
Great video!
Interesting to hear how Toyota parts are made here and Chevy isn’t!!!
Very helpful, keep up the good videos. And continue with the tundra service videos.
The parts store is telling me I should get the rotors that have the slots and holes in them and ceramic pads…do you agree?
More Tundra maintenance…yes 👍. Oh, and if you can do it, I can do it? NOT!
Great vid thanks. Dude, put some safety glasses on. God bless
I know I’m watching a 3 year old vidjao but all us Aussie land cruiser owners are scratching our heads over here wondering why you didn’t start by removing the caliper. A brake spreader is standard kit down here, but also we don’t have that rust so the pots can be pushed back in by hand.
i can do it
Just did my front brakes on my 07 today, thanks for the video.
i like toyotas but they have a bed rusting problem
as much as i love ford and chevy i hate the fact that parts are not made in the good ol USA
Yes, more on service…
It is just a joy to watch a craftsman in action. Supreme confidence is clearly demonstrated by the fact that Eric is making fun of himself when he almost installs the pins the wrong way instead of simply hiding that part of the video before uploading it on YouTube keeping it real for all of us.
Hi Eric, I made stainless steel pins for the rear brakes on my RAV4. Makes servicing so easy. Great video, great advice. Take care young man. Joe.
I love my 2016 Tundra Limited 4×4 Crewmax, so obviously would like to see more videos related to it.
top anti rattle spring???
I'm late to the comment section on the video, but I couldn't agree more about buying parts made in the U.S. It is a shame that the big three manufacture most of their parts overseas, whereas Toyotas and Hondas, arguably better vehicles, are made in the U.S. with American parts.
Thank goodness my 6 pot brembos are painted….. then again I live in Canada soooooooooo… TIS BE A CRAP SHOOT!
Thank you! Great video. Well done.
Great stuff Mr owe. Sweet 👌
You’re not very mechanically incline, I see you struggle too much with little things.
Good video dough!
I would like to see the other service work Trans, brake fluid replacement thanks for the video.
What brake lube you using? 🙂
Loving it, south main is the best, did the fronts on the truck today and I just used the old pad on both piston faced and squeeze and lock each side
I think I'll take it to the shop and pay someone to take care of my breaks! Looks like fun!
Sure love to see more tundra in the videos
I want to see you torque them! I know you do but I want to see the professional do it
I have a 12 Tacoma with 4WD, did a brake job last year, those pins were hell to remove, a lot of hammering and swearing, they was really rusted, wasn't a lot of other rust, I live in central PA so we don't get the salt treatment youse guys get (I used to live in upstate NY and know). I think I'll get my mechanic to do next brake job. Toyota doesn't seem to do the mousetrap wires as well as others, just try changing a headlight bulb, I finally gave up on that and took it to dealer, his techie cursed as much as I did. I think the problem is that they are made in the USA and not Japan. The ones on MB and BMW work better IF you can fit your hand behind them.
Thank you for sharing good tips
Advics makes the brake system for Toyota. I try and use their after market brake line anytime I can. All made in the USA . Akebono is also excellent.
Awesome Vid! Next time u pull those calipers, send em to me and I will give them some color! Love your vids!
Yes please. Any Toyota work would be appreciated.
