I swear we need to make a rust belt special all data with all book times for how long jobs take when rusty as hell lmao
Cool! Thanks for sharing.
Safety glasses please when showing things like this and simply replace the hub with the bearing , why go through all the extra work
Gosh that grinding wheel was close to your index. I guess you know what you're doing but it scared me a little LOL
This guy is hilarious. Very helpful video thank you buddy
I really enjoy watching your videos, you do a great job and aren't big headed at all. All the best to you
I am a fan of pulling the spindle and using the press to get them out and put back in………usually the fastest way i have found
A knife edged bearing puller plate is in order.
Idda used a grinder wheel and tried to cut a notch in the race. But Iโve split those with grinder wheels then used a chisel to bust it on the split
A slide hammer? That would be Toy Story 5.
Honestly you should have bent the shit out of the backing plate just for old times sake LOL.
This can all be yours for the low low price of $571 ๐ yeah… ๐
Sorry, just saw the glasses around 16 min
No safety glasses and fingers too close to cut off wheel!
I got the older one just got the new one for the tool to get the hubs off and the update pieces my older one doesnโt have
Iโd be able to remove ten of those outer races off the hub by the time you gave up with pullers
Slice a groove I. The fuckin thing with a cut off wheel
Large cold chisel in the slot
Hit chisel with mini sledge and it splits the race
Pull off hub with fingers
NEXT
Great tool only $597.00 get yours today!
Excellant job.
Don't need no stinking OTC hub puller. While this guy is doing his, mine would already be back on the vehicle done.
Do yourself a favor and just remove the steering knuckle and get it pressed out. It's a 20 minutes job. You'll save a ton of grief
very nice tool
Snap ring install and no safety glasses? You saw what happened when it goes flying. They dont make replacement eyeballs……. ๐๐ But great video!
Replace the whole thing
Before you found the screw I went toward the start and saw it wasn't in its spot, l wonder if anyone else did.
I think your videos are awesome but please wear eye and ear protection.
I've seen a video of a guy using a torch to heat the race wile spinning the hub on the vice and the race expanse and falls rite off id like to try it some day seems ezey but it could have been movie magic .
I would drive 10 hours from Queens to have this guy work on my car.
Not even using a vice to hold work or a hyd press to reinstall….sheesh….
Respectfully, once again you are warping the brain of viewers expecting good methods…..where is your bearing puller and your hydraulic press….??
Man, using the angle grinder right next to your fingers made me really nervous, reminds me of all the safety videos where they slice, cut, and electrocute wieners. Use a vice, be careful with your wieners!
No grease new bearing ?
Ppe
Can that be done without unhooking the ball joints ?
Was there a snapping on the other side of the bearing also?
GOOD JOB!! GOOD ATTITUDE !
I bought a Lexus from an old lady in Los Angeles. Not a bit of corrosion. Got a one way $50 ticket to Vegas from Detroit. Planned on driving home in a 2003 Camry. Got a 2007 ES350 instead. Smooth ride.
South Main Auto Repair LLC LoL WTF idiot
I like the much simpler square tube with the flange rhat bolts to the Stud bolts.give a big hit a d it's off.
In the UK, we have 40 words for rust.
Glad my 08 charger was so easy to change the front bearings
nice to see a proper mechanic, if that was taken to most garages in the UK they would have wanted a new hub and stub axle, there are not many mechanics left anymore only 'Fitters' ,well done
See it? I felt it.
Need to know if that press kit works for a 2014 smart fortwo pure
Hi Eric. I use a small cut wheel & grind side ways on the race. Once you get most of the way through just put a chisel in the cut & hit it with a hammer & she splits enough to slid off. Just another way to approach it. Love your videos. Watch them a lot. You are very good with electrical issues. Keep up the good work
Cut a diagonal slot across the bearing race with a cutoff wheel. Insert a chisel and smack it with a hammer. The race is hardened steel and will crack the rest of the way through the slot you cut. Insert a flat blade screwdriver into the slot/crack and twist it slightly and the race will come right off. Quick, easy and no damage to the hub.
Thanks for the education
So it appears time you actually worked on removal/installation of bearing, of course including time spent to put car on lift, is about 45-50 minutes. I would assume you labor rate is maybe 80/hr. That would mean if I bring you my car you will charge me about $60 labor. Oh and I have already bought my bearing so no need to add that charge. Does that sound about right? The next phone call you hear is me so I can make an appt. I don't want to do this job in my driveway and for $60 I think is fair. Thanks
My old man could usually beat the shit out of it in and out and the bearing is bad again in 20 mins again !!!!
