He has one cylinder misfiring, Why not pull that spark plug……first thing?
We currently have a 2003 2.7 L Hyundai Sonata in our shop and it had a misfire. We ran the scanner on it, and it fried 2 02 sensors. Changed those and obviously gave it a spark plug and wire job and changed the coil pack as well; but even after all that, it's still has a problem under throttle. It's not bucking and carrying on like it was, it is definitely smoother but has no power. any suggestions?We're baffled.
My car is Sonata 2009, American import, engine 24. It has a malfunction. When the rpm reaches 1500 revolutions, the engine shakes, whether it is moving or standing, and results in a weak engine torque.. I went to the technician more than once and he connected it to a fault detector, but to no avail without any result. .. so what is the solution?
I have a 06 hyundai sonata I got cylinder numbers 6 misfire replace spark plugs still has it so I swap number 6 coil wit number 4 an sure enough number 4 started misfiring so hopefully I replace coil am it will be fixed

Show the diagnostics without a tech stuff, then people will be impressed! Not every one has diagnostic equipment! I do, but many people see this as a non-informative show off video! Not very home school or professional! Bad video segment!!!!!!!
My 4 year old niece wandered into the garage yesterday when I was using the pico secondary ignition probe and loved it 😂 it held her attention for an hour at least.

I would of squeezed some dielectric grease in there too.
A good plug and a good new boot with sufficient and proper dielectric grease should eliminate this happening. One point to remember is that a really sharp edge on the spring or the clip that snaps onto the plug can concentrate the HV field and cause a local breakdown which could eat the rubber. One more reason for using copious dielectric grease. It's not just a lubricant. It seals out water AND it stops those tiny discharges at sharp points.
Lets remember, 1st of all great job. I'm old and remember Toyotas that cheap plugs wires were put on without the insulating ring at the end of the spark plug wire, then check your gap and old plugs.. Then the ones that get you are hairline carbon tracks. Then it was cold starts dropping that cylinder. For ugly intermittent problems try a bit of power braking then things happen quickly.. Thank you young man I don't watch tv anymore,,,, Your thought process and experience really shows in the way you process in the thought ,,,,, Okay what's the why of it all….. Lets do some more of this(:
My sonata has five cylinders misfiring due to the engine design flaw in the rain. Fixing it and then selling it. Thank God I only paid $800 for it. My car looks mint and has been kept up meticulously by the original owner and the Hyundai dealer would only give them $750 at trade in for a brand new one. Why? Cuz Hyundai knows they have frequent problems in the rain and wet.
i have a 2005 hyundai santa fe 2.7 Lv6 when i turn the key on and start the car it runs then start to shake then stops the fuel light is on but with a half tank of gas beside shaking i hear a rattle then it stops if you can tell me what the problem is it would help out.
That's not a Hyundai. It's a 3700 lb STUN GUN …..

You could also swap wires with another cylinder and at the coil and see if the problem moves. This would clear the coil and clear the spark-plug and for sure tell you the wire is bad. If it didn't have tracking like this one did.
eric o I got a 2007 Hyundai entroung 3.8 and am about to pull my hair out on this van …it got a p0300 and p016 codes and I have install a cam sensor and even swap them from the rear to the front and swap out a the crank sensor and had my friend check it and said 4 and 5 coils where misfiring and so I changed 1 3 5 so I dient have to keep removing the pleum and its still getting the p0300 I wish I live closer but am stuck here in maine lived in conn …let me know what u think
They make insulated pliers for pulling wires. You are crazy yanking out those wires. It seams every time I yank the wire off my lawnmower I get it haaaard

What a great demonstration.
When you disconnect the injector, I think you will see the lean cylinder difference on the scope if you power brake the vehicle. The firing line will slope upward. At idle it may be able to sniff some fuel from the manifold and other cylinders, but won't keep up under load. The secondary miss will show up better if you power brake it as well. Nice videos.

Maybe you could have done with turning on the "Peak Detect" function for this test. With any of these digital displays of waveforms, you have to keep in mind you're looking at a graphical representation of a series of numbers, taken at discrete intervals, depending on your time base setting and screen resolution, from an even larger number of values which are actually being sampled and held at the A/D converter. In this manner, it's quite easy for your display to "step over" the actual peak value from the coil just before the spark occurs.
By turning on the "Peak Detect" function, internally, the scope continually flags the highest voltage measured over the time period between two pixels on the screen, so, even though it might turn your trace more "fuzzy*, you should get a more consistent read-out of the spark threshold voltage.
anyone familiar with Hyundai Sonatas. I bought a 06 sonata v6 3.3 96k miles from a neighbor for 2k. vehicle now has 105k. and I'm starting to experience oil loss. every day I check the levels. no sign of oil leaking anywhere around engine or floor.
my wife drove to work one day and it was fine. go to come home and engine shook ,check light came on. shut off the car and it was about 1qt low. this happened to me back in September. only it took 2.5 quarts. filled it back up and got oil change.
seems like every 4k miles this crap happens. is it normal to burn oil this fast. to have the engine shake on a quart low seems off. sometimes wonder if dipstick is giving wrong readings.

Is it wrong to wonder if something caused that tracking in the first place? Perhaps broken electrode on the spark plug causing excessive gap and the spark found somewhere else to go, through the plastic?

i have a 2003 GMC Sierra with P0300 code i changed all the wires and plugs, i also checked all the coils with a spark tester and still have a random multiple miss fire, can you tell whats the problem i don't have the equipment that you have. HELP PLEASE, Thanks in advance

I noticed the probe does not have a ground clip to bleed off a spark that might come through the insulation. I know its shielded but ??
