I remember on 04 Accord EXV6 Sedan has 75,500 miles right now. When first bought it with 66,501 almost 2 years ago. It had a PCB that didnt work per TSB from Honda i found out. Replacing that in the radio fixed a back light problem. Easy to replace and didn’t cost much. Seeing this makes me think about that replacement.
So customer takes it to a shop not working properly, shop messes it up, still broken, non the wiser. But messed up and walks away. At least they could have flashed it back to where they started. Thanks for the explanation Mr O.
The good old laying on the Door seal halfway out the vehicle to get your head under the Dash first thoughts for me brake booster Replacement dinger works again nice and radio works whoo Eric O interesting Digital Dinger @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Oh, the radio has a Digital Amplifier strange situation if it has an analog Amplifier and it should be an Analog radio how did the radio Work with an analog Amplifier if it should have run off a digital Amplifier 🤔 😳
Okay so Amplifier was fried that makes sense and the radio was Programmed wrong strange 🤔 Very Intriguing Video And Part 2 Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Nice to see the radio Is Repaired For the Volume But hmm No audio at all Now strange wow wasn't anything wrong with the Radio At all 🤔 Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Great video Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepair
I agree with what others have said, namely that the stealer reprogrammed the radio and the wrong programming is probably what fried the amplifier. Regarding sugar intake, you were rightly scolded. Excess sugar in the blood stream may be the cause for all sorts of inflammation. It very well may turn out to be the major cause for many chronic illnesses people have today. In twenty years, mainstream medicine may catch on and change their story, but I ain't holding my breath. Meanwhile, one has to seek good advise elsewhere and go with what is consistent with one's own experiences. One size doesn't necessarily fit all but reducing sugar and all carbs has helped me immensely.
I believe GM dealer messed up the radio. Good job on repairing the issue.
You’ll be dancing with the Chippendale
And people wonder why a job like that cost so much. Junk engineering at factory
The smiling might end there for you and the owner but I'll be smiling due to knowing more about that particular assembly and vehicle
Buddy bought an '05 Grand Cherokee for his boy as a first vehicle. Low miles, non-ticking Hemi, bodywork in beautiful shape, good deal, really nice unit. And then the speedometer quit, the 'Service 4×4' message came on, ABS light, probably a traction control light (don't remember exactly), and it refused to go into 4 wheel drive. He and his dad (all 3 generations involved now: dad, son, and now grandpa who used to be a tech and later a Service Manager at a Chrysler dealership) changed all 4 wheel speed sensors, and both transmission speed sensors. No change. So I brought my trusty scanner over, and spent a couple hours trying to figure it out. Cleared the codes, and they'd come back instantly, even with vehicle stationary. Something about a speed mismatch, among other things. Which was odd for wheel speed sensor related problems. Normally you have to have the wheels turning before you can generate a mismatch error. Got the son to drive around slowly while I looked through the live data. Could see the live data from each wheel, looked normal no glitches at all. Went over bumps, stopped, started, fast, slow, turned sharp, everything. All data looked perfect. Same with the trans speed sensors. The other odd thing was that the 'vehicle speed' live value read "unavailable". Not zero, not some quirky number, but "unavailable".
Hated to admit defeat, but ran out of time, gave up for the afternoon. Kid downloaded a GPS speedometer app for his phone so he could see how fast he was going, and went back to driving it to school every day. Then everybody got busy, then COVID, and never got back to it.
Some time later I was talking to the grandpa, and he says "hey remember that Jeep? Did you hear what the problem was?" The kid and his buddies had been messing around with the scanner in shop class, managed to erase about 1/4 of the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) programming. Got a shop to reflash it, and it's run perfect ever since.
If you read the fine print on a dealership invoice, you will find that by driving through their doors you are giving them carte blanche to update or reflash anything they want to, without telling you. The tech guy at the dealership is usually an idiot who is deemed to be a tech god because he built his own gaming PC (building computers is as complicated as playing with Lego). Probably what happened here: "Try reflashing the radio." "Okay, which firmware?" "I dunno, pick one."
Leave your tv alone dude
Whenever I see an ad on Craigslist (or wherever) listing a Bose system as a selling point, I hit the back button as fast as I can.
Having said that, United Radio is awesome. They certainly aren't cheap, but you get what you pay for. I had to send my Buick Regal IP to them years ago for a common failure, and they did more than just fix the blown LCD panel, they replaced the bouncy fluid and some other things I don't remember anymore, thing worked great until I sold the car down the road.
Do you remember what your UR bill was when this was all said and done? It seems like they had to do a little above and beyond here, too.
We’ve all had those 1 hr jobs that we have turned into 3 hour jobs, its even worse when its someone else’s fault .
if that Arcadia could talk…
"My owner took me to a place… some sweaty teenager called Apprentice touched me, and I feel dirty! Sob! Waaahaahaah!" ;p
I used to work at a car audio shop and United Radio is the BEST and sometimes only option for radios, amps, clusters etc. They do great work and really know what they're doing. If they can't fix it, go shopping because nobody can.
Sounds like someone at the dealer looked at the firmware on the radio and was like oh I'll upgrade it to the digital version, and BOOM! radio stopped communication with the brain (not calling it an amp)
Well then this isn't really a amplifier it's more of a brain🤔. I've been out of the radio installation business for a long time and I refuse to work on these new cars so I won't ever touch any of these systems
Erick got a tip for you on those amp removal you can use a 1/4 inch thumb ratchet to get the 7mm top bolt no need to take the pedal out.
Dealer coded radio wrong for a bad amp. Lazy prima donna tech don't give a flock and/or is a big dummy; ready to pass the buck.
Why is there always a siren going off in your area?
I have same issue. Got a truck. Radio worked for a week. No volume adjustment. Lol can't go through life without your dinger…..
Lotta problems with the Verus, stupid snapon.
Wow, goofy system. Thanks GM. lol
I would love for my son and I to tear apart that Varys just to find out what the heck keeps breaking. That's just an x86 architecture freaking touchpad with a few buttons. It wouldn't surprise me if the damn thing had an Intel Atom Processor in it maybe a Celeron. I'm always thought Snap-on was over priced but that is stupid.
I have to wonder if someone can download a ROM we're that radio and loaded using a CD. You can reload firmware on your Blu-ray buy RJ45, Wi-Fi, USB thumb drive and CD. If this radio has the capability of reading firmware off of the CD then someone may have tried to do it themselves. Or tried to upgrade the firmware because they thought it might make it work, work better than it did or have more functionality. I'm willing to bet if you Google that radio model and search for firmware you will find some on the web that you can download
AINT NOTHIN WRONG WITH THE RADIO !!!!! AORAN TIPPIN .
So how much was the customers final bill????????
CHEVY BABYYYYYY
Be careful, gettin yer dinger stuck ain’t no fun.
AH HA! The old amp behind the kick panel trick! Give me an OBD 1 or (preferably) older vehicle any day! I have a 77 Chevy C-10 with a "buzzin half dozen" and 3 on the tree that gets over 20 mpg in town. The old Pioneer am/fm/cd unit and 2 6x9s behind the seat still work perfectly and I can "program" it with 1 finger!
I have an old School Sony head unit that is their really nice system it’s a Mobile ES. It’s configured to where a DSP module can be connected to it and once that’s done the radio will then control all the preamp in the DSP by bypassing the radios preamp the DSP is all digital and the signal that’s applied to the DSP from the radio via rca cables is one 4 volt level but the radio controls the DSP volume it’s way beyond its time 😊👌
Eric O,…Ramblin', Gamblin' Man 😉
Great Vedic in all, I'am glad it done thou!
you should take your wife to hawaii to buy the candy and a vacation.
Very helpful, got a2007 Chrysler voyager,no sounds, radio works got signals on the wires, found amp,no signal from amp,got power at amp, dealer wants, well this Baby’s scrap, that want so much,in the U.K. ,difficult to find someone to fix ,but customer wants it fixed for senseable
From an old guy's point of view, electronic equipment no longer comes with sufficient documentation. In my day, good equipment used to be accompanied by a decent "book of words" as to the theory of operation. If you had that in your possession then things would have been easier. One test you apparently did not do was test the amp separately for all its functions. Of course, you actually would have needed the proper written test procedure to do that. I doubt it exists outside the factory. Electronics ain't as simple as in my day so the old fashioned methods of yesteryear won't get you all the way home.
You are the only hope for your customers. You persevere and repair the problems of a throw away industry. A reasonable customer just wants a fix for a fair price, which SMA provides.
Nice work.
What a learning curve! I hope the customer was understanding with all you went through! The wonderful world of electronics. Alien technology! "They gave us the technology, but didn't tell us how it works! And we lost the manual!" TV show, The Greatest American Hero, circa mid to late 1970's. (I think) Great Video!
United radios going to get a ton more business just because of what Eric o said about them….. it's always good when you can talk directly to the guy who's fixing your stuff…..nice job…… this is the best Channel on YouTube I let my phone play and listen to him on my truck radio driving to work everyday
Super awesome…
I feel for ya man, glad you got it sorted. Somewhere this an automotive electrical engineer laughing his ass of at the guys that have to service those babies. Thanks for the video. I thing you're paying for the name with the Varis…..
Who makes the scanner for Snap On ?
Hi Erick does the mp408 works good with your ms906bt?????, Is it slow???
Your missing the breaklean
