In this video I bring you along on a "normal" day at the shop to see what a little bit of what happens and what i do on a day to day basis. Of course this is only about 70% of it because obviously I can't record customer interactions, estimates, billing, phone calls, potty breaks, etc... I did this just to show viewers what mechanics go through on a day to day basis so they might understand a little bit about shop life. If you work in a shop... well this is nothing new to you I am sure ๐
Going thru old vids your a good guy Mr.O wish i had the money to purchase some shirts from ya. Great video.
Itโs great to see that youโre still yourself even before the fame ๐
I got a colbalt spun bearing. I tried to bandaid it , didn't work , so I thought about a putting a different motor in until I started checking out the undercarriage, nothing but rust!
Youre a great mechanic and diagnostic man
Glad you didnโt erase the chalk drawing on the floor when you swept up!
Chrysler product OMG?
A real shop awesome
"It is a dodge, probably everything is aftermarket" LOL, Isn't that what you do with them? You start rebuilding them as soon as you buy them to help them reach their supposed potential?
I think you have a fantastic face for radio.
That caliper is both hands, it has a blanking plug to swap nipples.
Still catching up on your youtube videos. It's April 2022 and as you may be able to tell, I'm watching videos from 2015. I sure hope you're still making them. Anyway, your little break in this particular video where you described how badly some of the things had worked out that morning, missing lunch, getting wrong parts, having your wife deciding she wanted a Jeep, (based on helping you bleed brakes) etc. Watching you walk over to the car on lift with a sandwich in your hand reminded me of surgery I had in 1972. I was 2nd or 3rd on my surgeon's list that particular morning and when they wheeled me into the OR, he stepped in to speak to me before they put me under. When he turned to go back out for a minute, he had a sandwich in his hand behind his back. He had worked thru lunch too, although his surgery was a bit more deilcate than the surgery you perform on all your mechanical patients. Still… makes you wonder don't it?
Also, based on this particular video, you may consider changing name to South Main Auto and Day Care. But since this ws 7 years ago, unless there are additions to family since 2015, your daughter is likely not coming in so much now adays.
Thirdly, Love the guard dog Sheba.
๐
Great vid. Love the kids tales. You have the most wonderful demeanor in spite of all the detours you have to deal with daily.
DIY folks with less overall skills get the right parts while skilled workers get the wrong parts. That is a bad day.
I don't understand how someone can complain about something so ridiculous. I'm just grateful that you take time out of your busy day to make these videos for everyone.
LOL !!!โฆ club technicians alway get wrong parts , Lucky you get local , if you order from dealer you wait for 3-7 days and they come in wrong parts than I have wait for them to shipped over night , peoples going to works they lefted their brains at home all the time
Worked in a tire shop . .had a boss in a motorized scooter .. Used to yell. . check that part .. see if its the right part ! Check to see if it's the right @!#$ part ! Before the guy left . ๐. . .. ?
Congrats ๐ Beautiful Family, love the puppy ๐ถ!
Pretty good look into average day in an automotive shop
Bronco!
Great videos! If someone is complaining about the phone ringing then they are weak soy boys! This is a mechanic shop, not a Hollywood studio! Keep doing what youโre doing man!
You just breathed in my face
un-masked you pay ME now!
I voted for Joe Biden!……๐ถ
**keep walking, don't forget 10%
for, the b I g guy!
Very old vid and I know you almost definitely won't see this but I gotta say, as a scat pack chally owner the retro body and new age horse is a blast. I think dodge at least got that right. As someone who can't afford to repair (let alone time and money to find a classic) it's as close to a real heirloom as I can come (though admittedly not an heirloom no matter what time brings)
Thanks again brother!!!
Whe I was 15 .went out on a tow with my dad .a ,79 chevy caprice wagon hit a cow. Car was totalled,. The roof was binding the steering wheel. The guy said he had to crawl out the back window
You are awsome Eric don't chang a bit brother.your tech skills are top notch๐๐
Hurry up to wait
The best shops Iโve ever been to are shops like yours where itโs essentially the owner working on the cars and then possibly another assistant to help when things are backed up. The shops arenโt always the quickest, but they are worth the wait because the owners are usually super honest and reliable. Keep up the great work!
Had a 1980 -280zx it had Right rear caliper with bleeder on the bottom caliper keep locking the pads! Love your show !! You do a great job running South Main Auto, keep on keeping on! !!! ๐
Your hat is a source of anxiety, due to that auto parts retailer having issues with poor quality customer experiences, I can recall a time in Texas at an advance auto parts store, I had a shopping cart full of items ready to purchase, that's when I noticed the employees was not going to check me out, but everyone else that walked in got serviced immediately, so I left the full basket in the middle os the floor and walked out. I never looked back since, when I saw someone sent you a ford hat I laughed so hard because I'm not the only person who has issues with advanced auto parts, but you are a great person and I don't mind your hat , I just hate that company.
Your wifeโs pretty hot. Nice job man
Thanks.. i need to watch your channel.
Bro they're jealous because you have a hot wife. Who cares what they say. Just some pussy in front of a keyboard. Peace
Don't agree with only replacing one caliper. If it was the front I would be really disappointed on a emergency stop that can cause a pull with only replacing one
No better undercoating than trans fluid mixed with alcohol! Seeks out and destroyers rust.
Have a 2007 crewcab gmc under carriage is mint.
2022 ASMR
It is now 2022 and Iโm watching some nostalgia SMA videos why do I work on cars all day and come home and watch other people work on cars not sure but it keeps me entertained watching someone else have to deal with the New York rust
My son is a mechanic and will only fix what's broken hates comebacks . Mechanic s like you and him make it important for good ones to be out there
ou are an impressive, hard working dude, i watch all your video's
Those backing plates on the rear shoes look beefy compared to my ones on my dodge that rot out in 1 year
I had a 1976 FJ55 that my son and I put in a Chev 350 with TH 700R4. The rust got to it. I rewelded the flooring several time, but then I could not do anything for the frame. I love your videos.
Thank you!
Hello Eric, Sweden here again.
I am a long time subscriber and this video just came up in the feed and I have to say it's the first time I have seen you without a cap on your heard,, even if the video is 6 years old.
Yeah those calipers can really mess up your day.. Volvo 7 and 9 series has either Bendix or Gerling calipers, sure to get the wrong ones if you don't have look first.
Thanks Eric!! I've owned my own shop since 2011. Been professionailly working on cars since 1988. About 15 years in GM dealers (three dealers, but one was only about two weeks-
other two over 7 years each) Then in 2003 I was sick of the politics at dealers an basically sick of working on cars so I tried operating loader, trackhoe, dozer for a few months–that bombed. Then in 2004, after a six month retirement (probably the only one I'll ever get) on to an independent shop–sevenish years there–think I get the 7 year itch?? LOL. Then in 2011 I opened my shop–started with one good mechanic that I stole from the shop I left ๐ฎ I had to let him go after 6 months because I didn't have enough customers yet. Did it all by myself for 2 years–decent money, but not what I expected. 2014 I was terribly busy and actually making less and less money because I was constantly on the phone or talking to someone that walked in, so I rented a bigger shop and hired an old friend I had worked with before–working great!!! Between the two of us we could fix ANYTHING! But in 2018 he left to open his own shop–I didn't see that coming!! So I tried it by myself a week or so and then I went on a hiring and firing spree. I can't remember how many so-called "mechanics" I hired then fired between 2018 and 2021. I have been by myself since September 2021 and am just about to hang it up–throw in the towel–screw it-I'm getting a normal job and getting out of the car business completely!! Then at the end of this videoyou kinda changed my mind–maybe if I just slow down and stop answering the phone–let it go to voice mail–just maybe I can turn this thing around and make another go of it–I'll let you know how it goes. Wish me luck!

talk about not making a paycheck, and not having employees. look at you now. sounds like you got a crew to help you!
Hahahahaha reality show
Know you just need your wife bossing you around and throwing tools just sayiy๐คฃ๐
Anyone complaining about a phone ringing at a business, needs their head examined. It is when the phone isn't ringing when you should be concerned.
Great drama voice bud. And here in Oklahoma donโt get impressed that easily, but you did good!!! ๐
After watching this video I felt tired from working all day. The only shop I ever used was not as nice as yours, but I liked the owner and worked with him anyway I could especially getting my truck out of his way and paying fast. Being a shop owner is hard work but all jobs have there good and bad.
