In this video I show you how to remove the blower motor from your 2004 Pontiac Vibe. This should also apply to the Toyota Matrix.

I just had mine give out this morning. Made the drive in to work today hell. This video really helped me out and saved me a couple hundred bucks!
Very good. Easy to understand n follow u get a 20👍
Just an off-the-wall question 7 years later, could the cage be plastic welded?
Eric O. Saving me dough! 💰
Mine started vibe-rating too. When I pulled the blower/wheel out, mice had chewed up all the vanes
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Still helping people after 6 years. Cheers, thanks a bunch
Perfect video tutorial.
Bought a cheap 06 Vibe, had a bad vibration on med-high, opened it up to find a couple acorns. Good as new now.
Shop wanted to charge me $500 for doing this! Thank you for the help 🙂
Thank you!
If you can teach me like this…I can do it! Tks!
Thanks man. Great video
I had used your video to replace mine a few years ago. It helped. Came across it while I was looking for another video on a different repair.
I had a problem on my vibe, was blowing the 40 Amp fuse for the blower motor I thought it was the blower motor, but turns out the ac filter which in on top of the blower, neve had changed it was air flow restricted making the blower pull more amps, and blow the fuse, hope this helps some one out there. My friends DIY'S
Love the vibe/matrix videos!
Another useful, money-saving video, as I need to replace this part. Thank you!
Thank you kindly for this video. It gave me the confidence to saved myself considerable money, after being told by local garages that they wouldn't install customer supplied parts. Instead they quoted me a blower for almost twice what I had already already paid for the same model, from Rock Auto.
This video just saved me $200. My mechanic quoted me $250 to replace the motor. I bought one online for $50 and installed it in less than 20 minutes following the instructions in this video. I am not a mechanic or gear head by any stretch of the imagination. The only hard part was reaching in to unscrew the 3 hex head screws to release the old motor and mount the new ones. I didn't have a 5.5mm socket, so I used 7/32in and it worked. Thank you!!!
Thanks!
My 2009 looks different. Should it be an issue?
You saved me a lot of money because of this video thank you! Keep it up brotha
South Main Auto Repair always a big help in streamlining the work ahead of time! Thanks.
Thanks you sir my blower motor die and your video pop up made it easy to replace thank you save me some $$$$ .
Thank you for this. Matrix 04. Good shit sir..
Thanks for the video! I just replaced my motor using your steps. I'm a novice and had in done in less than 20 minutes. Now lets hope that fixes my problem (intermittent blowing motor)…if not i'll be looking for a video for changing the resistor
Thanks man ,help me a lot, save bunch of time
Thank you sir, my a/c has been fluctuating this whole summer your video really helped out. Thank you very much
Just a quick search, and found blower motors priced at $30-$40 online with the squirrel cage.
Very helpful. I was able to do a successful replacement and saved money thank you
NICE ! !
Any recommendation for an intermittent fan control problem where off and full on always work, but the low and med speed come in and out?
I have replaced the resistor on my fan. The fan will not turn off. It's not the controls. Any thoughts
Thanks so much! I just used this to fix my matrix. I had to drive around all day yesterday freezing when it went out. You made it so simple. Thanks again!
Heard the Vibe has a different blower motor, than the Matrix, vibe is prone more to failure… I've heard
Thanks for the video.
Can you tell me where is the Factory Air Relay located in the 2004 Vibe?
Thanks, this made the job real easy. When I've removed my glove compartment I don't bother removing the screw for the damper. the other end of the damper pops off of its mounting point pretty easily, and isn't bad to reinstall, either. So that can save you a whopping 20 seconds.
Of course it figures that I cleaned my throttle body at the same time, and then had a heart attack when the engine refused to start. Of course the ECU was throwing a dozen unrelated codes about various circuits being open, as one of the plugs going into the ECU had come unseated when I moved it out of the way to get to the blower motor. D'oh!
thank you fir the video, my blower for my vibe should be here tomorrow, i will use this video to do it myself. save me the headache. since winter decided to return to michigan. its very cold in the car. now two questions, i'm sure they have been answered already but do i have to disconnect my battery? and doing this will not set off the airbag will it if the battey does not need to be unhooked.
Just a heads up for any folks looking to go to the salvage yard to save money. The Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe have different blower motors. I found that out the hard way, but ended up using the brushes to rebuild the broken Pontiac blower motor from a Toyota Matrix.
Thanks for the video. Yours was one of the clearest I saw on the process. Able to replace mine and save some money.
Thanks man saved me alot of money
Hey, I normally don't comment but this one rated it. First of all concise and to the point. While I could figure it out, this saved a bunch of time and was spot on. Second, my fan motor AND resistor failed BUT I also had the cracked fan like yours. This seems to be a common fault on these units. Third, I found the parts on Amazon for 70 buck for BOTH parts!! Finally, I liked your honesty with your customer! GREAT Work!!
this is also a good time to change the cabin filter , alot of debris falls onto the fan area.
Exactly what I needed! Thank you for taking the time to make this video and sharing it!
I was looking for the blower motor resistor and spotted it in your video. lost all lower speeds except Full on high. had a hard time finding it. thanks
great video, thanks!
hi thanks for the video. question…when removing the seat to work, did you you have to worry about the airbags? did you disconnect the battery? also..main question..my fan works fine if you wiggle the wire harness. is this the motor or pcm connector? thanks in advance
That's a damn visually clear and dummy (like me) proof tutorial video!!
Thank you so much taking time showing such a very helpful piece of DIY!
After having been noisy for couple of months, my blower (Vibe 2005) started to work on and off. I will have to replace it and will be able to do it myself with your video!
good video keep up the vibe videos I have a 2009
Thank you so much for the video. Made the repair in no time. Great instructions.
It's very simple but it is the same piece for Pontiac vibe 2009 ? And i do as same to this video ? Tank you
