You are a GRRrrrATE tire changer!!
Now that was interestingl I never understood how the spin balancer lets you know where to put the weights. I started driving when there was only bubble balancing.
I've seen way better tire mounting machines than that one. Surprised.
I was never aware of the sticky weights.
I understand that the car is a Toyota but I have never ever seen that type of car out here is that a special edition? Can somebody please tell me exactly what model that is from Toyota I would like to see one in person it just looks like something way way deep in the future? God bless you everyone on this channel my brothers and sisters I love you ✝️✝️✝️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
No balance needed if you line the dot up period
Ray – I follow your excellent videos and enjoy them thoroughly. I see you use a Snap-On Apollo scanner. I trust your opinions, so can you suggest a decent scanner for an advanced DIYer?
Interesting. Before we fit a tyre here in the U.K., we pull the whole valve stem and refit a brand new one.
G’day Ray good job I reckon those tyre gauges are a real, pain but it was interesting how you showed taking care around the sensors. I like the channel it is always good and good quality. Regards John Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺
Liked the video, not all people are kind enough to smile and wish you a good day. also could have something on their mind and could not react in time to respond
Very nice! Thanks 👍
There are often laws that mandate insurance companies must restore the vehicle to the same condition as to when the accident happened to better. Hence why this tire was adjusted for replacement. This is also why vehicles are so easy to total out when they get a few years on them. Proper paint matching due to fade and weathering is expensive. One reason I'm glad I live in a state that only requires 7 years or newer vehicles that are totaled to be title changed to salvage. Beyond 7 years is completely up to the insurance company who generally doesn't bother.
Yellow dot yellow dot lined up with valve steam.
If you ever stop posting daily vids it will completely mess up my morning. Every morning I wake up with ray and my pre-workout.
Just wondering if you have directional tyres in the US. My cars (in Europe) have always had directional tyres. So because of their profile you have to pay attention to their rotation direction and therefore you cannot swap left and right wheels because that would put the rotation direction opposite of what it should be.
I don’t see you work on hybrid cars very much
No it's not any damage to the side wall if a tyre means it needs replacing where were you trained. Tyre safe is very clear about sidewall damage. It does not have to penitrate through any significant cut slash or chip /chunk out of the side wall of a a tyre isca structural fail
Omg you just put an axel stand on a non structure seam. What are you doing this could cause damage.
I cannot believe what I am seeing those waits are for steel wheels not alloy wheels. What's going on.
Wow I thought you where a pro who cared about customers cars clear I was wrong. You do not remove sick on balance weight like that you are damaging the top coat of the wheel come on who taught you to be so sloppy
I recall working weekends while in high school in 1980 at an Irving station (Atlantic Canada) the mystical art of static balancing wheels, ie where, for the younger viewers, you lay the wheel horizontally on the balance beam thing, placing weights around the rim till the bubble in the hub hole was centered. Even then I doubted it’s accuracy.
As a introvert, I mostly look away when strangers smile at me. I don't mean to disrespect them, and I'm not using introversion as an excuse, it's just an honest, natural response to an unexpected social interaction.
The look away thing is a woman letting you know i don't like what i see.
Like the jack cam…
Lol you placed the weight in the spot you removed the other weights. 😱🤯 I did enjoy watching the video especially since you made a 16 min video and only got paid for 12 min of it. Also in the last video you made on tire change you said standard was to place the car on the ground slightly only to apply friction. Is that because if the tire still needs to move inward during the torquing process there is no damage to stud, rim, or tire tread? This is a question by the way I’m not trolling I’m actually curious. And yes I had to edit my post cause I’m up at 3:35 am on a work day cause I can’t sleep and realized grammar issues😡
And here I always thought Priuses floated on butterfly wings and fairy dust…
Thats all about liability!
I use to change tires it was fun I've never broken a tpms sensor but I have broken a plastic/metal rim by over tightening the rim on the balancer it had a layer of plastic over the metal
Maybe they looked away because they were angry and didn't want you to think it was at you I've been there
Sidewall damage is a blowout hazard no doubt about it.
I wouldn't drive it far.
Also some tech overlook it but all build up of debris, dirt or grease must be removed from the inner side of the rim.
If not you will add too much weight and when the debris vibrates off the tire will go out of balance & vibrate.
Comment, yes this was mildly entertaining, thanks.
i had a tire replaced and when i got it back the tpms started flashing and shows i have a low tire all the time even tho i dont do you think they could have broken the sensor when they replaced the tire?
Look at it this way: recording this was great for documentation for the insurance company/body shop if nothing else, there's just the added bonus of us getting to watch.
Tire is fine for service? Sure, I get that, but I'd still rather not have that tire on my vehicle. And if it was the result of someone hitting me and damaging my vehicle, or some such, best believe you'd better be replacing that tire. Side note: insurance claims are to repair damage cause from whatever incident. That slice into the tire is damage, maybe not functional damage, but damage none the less, and the company covers it regardless.
Has anyone else noticed that the Closed Captioning system call power tool sounds “Music “?
Can't believe someone filed an insurance claim. Bet this is their first car, and first insurance policy… I see a policy cancelation in their future.
Oh, it's a Prius… tells you everything about the person… bet they think everything is free.
Change the tire and balance with the wheel cover on?????😬😬
every thing is great 👍 love that tire balance machine wow so modern .it’s all good Ray
If Ray become history teacher, what will happen to Automotive section?
Man u can't believe you put the center cap upside down lol
Easy life changing tyres, we had to use a lump hammer and two tyre levers when we did the tyres on the Mercedes 814 7.5 ton trucks .
Tire machine is 15 years old balancer is newer Not sure how old. One thing Toyota 76 ft lbs. Also torque the wheel barely on the ground not rocking back and forth. Biggest thing I saw didn't replace the tpms kit . But do love all the videos and the diagnosing of the issues.
As a consumer, that video was appreciated .
One thing I have never understood about car tires is how they seal to the rim and don’t leak like crazy; bikes need inner tubes, cars get invisible magic secret sauce of some kind… anyone car to explain???
I'm shy I look that other way
Any particular reason you didn't remove the plastic wheel cover from the rim? They're very easy to scratch up, I should know as I have done that on multiple occasions.
Wow, you actually torque the lug nuts 🙃 here in Sweden the shops will just ram them down as hard as they can with the air impact machine. You can break sockets trying to get the wheels off
I would not replace just one tire. They should be replaced in sets or all 4 at the same time. You should know that. The stick on weights are the best way to go with aluminum alloy wheels. I don't claim how the stick on wheel weights are able to balance the inside & outside of the tire & wheel assembly. Some one please let me know & understand this. I always over inflate my tires since I have never know of Chevy or Ram truck alignment specs to be correct with tires set at 35 P.S.I. The front tires always wear out on the outboard & inboard edges of the tires while the center of the tires show very little wear.
What brand impact do you use?
Most people are deekheads, whats new.
There's so much I could say here. I'm a full time tire tech of around 3 years experience and you are better than the majority of other tire techs or mechanics I've worked with. Good man for actually putting the weights and trash where they belong and not on the floor. If you had two spoons on that machine, I would've used a second one to push the bead under that metal duck head as it can save some time and let the turntable go its normal speed all the way through. Not really necessary if you're not trying to go fast but it's fun getting in the flow. If the plastic cover on that wheel is removable, it would be best to remove it before you balance it as the cones can put cracks in them if you tighten it too much, then the center caps don't stay in. If the wheel is alloy with a clearcoat then spraying them with the brake clean directly will destroy that coating but doesn't really matter in this case. Those coats tire machines are the best IMO and I really like the balancer your shop has, pretty fancy. With the Toyota lugs, I like to put them on by hand and then pull the wheel onto the lug nuts so you know they bottom out in the right spot. Keep pluggin away Ray
Awesome
