Instead of a $50 part and an hour's labor, was $10 and two hours of labor, but at least they saved money on the parts!
I guess it is a little bad of me but I do enjoy your running into really tough spots and thinking your way out of them. Good luck in the future with your family and job.
where's your lube?
The whole car should have been sprayed with brake cleaner.
I'm catching up on old videos I see the needle nose pliers well welding pliers 😂😂😂
What?? Why didn't you sell a Air Filter? And new clamps
Could you have used a nut, bolt and washer?
1k$ of tools for a 65 cent bushing, but there also the whole "removing house tiling from the bottom" every time you gotta dissamble so much for so less replaced.
Break out the torch
“Wack” 😂
the c clamp would have done it without the socket ! (maybe) after watching it go in, change that to, c clamp and flat washer in place of socket. (possibly)
That nut from a Toyota is the best part of the Chevrolet. I understand many mechanics are calling the Craprolets.
"You can't create the absence of something"
I think there are several million people with several billion vacuums who would disagree with that statement…
A steaming pile!
Judging by the condition of that engine bay and the vehicle apparently this person does not believe in regular maintenance, I live on a fixed income therefore after paying bills budgeting to do car repairs can be tight sometimes, but I always manage to keep all the little tidbits in my vehicle replaced air filter PCV valve oil changes whatever stuff I can do instead aside the money for the mechanical work for the harder stuff I get times are tough and we all got to do what we got to do to make ends meet but geez that's a little rough looking
Why dont you use a vice to press
My tools would be at four corners of the world.
I love your job so much I have to watch it twice!
You are definitely not a flat earth er !!! You understand gravity very well !!
Your awesome Ray. I would have entered frustration mode hours ago.
Hi Ray maybe next time you could try a bolt or threaded bar through the middle and pull it in.
a nightmare repair.. no room to work..bad engineering.. thats what happens when a manufacturerer uses the cheapest quality chinese parts
don’t forget, you guys make money ripping a car apart for a .69 cent part…
“Silicone”
Use a carpenters wood clamp. The one with two spinles.
See your problem was you weren't putting the thingy on the doohicky using the vorsprung durch technique.
Deja vu
Try a bit on lubrication next time spit works great.
I just squeezed mine in with the channel-lock pliers directly… completely disregarding the instructions telling me to use a C-clamp and a socket. It worked great. Same Dorman 14057 kit and the same van (well, 2000 Pontiac Montana rebadged version).
I actually did read the instructions first though and the socket is supposed to go on the round back of the cable end. It isn’t about matching the diameter of the bushing. It’s about turning that domed surface into a flat one so the clamp doesn’t slip off.
After trying to install one of those dorman kits for a customer i gave up and told him to replace the whole shifter cable 😂
The 70's flashbacks are very hard on me. lol
Perseverance and diligence paved the way to success, congratulations Ray!
Ray, what percentage of the difficulty in all your repair jobs is due to the INACCESSIBILITY of parts? My guess is 70%
Watching this caused much merriment 😁. Also three things came to mind, first if you are going to use a clamp, use a ball joint clamp because it doesn't have a wiggly end and hold the clamp in a vise. Third, your dealing with a grommet; soak in hot water, fold and insert using a pocket pry tool if necessary.
that's not the definition of insanity lol
For weeks I've been wondering who you remind me of.
Kermit!!! . Dead ringer for speech
rather you than me
That air filter is providing extra clean air to the engine it’s that blocked 😂
I would like to see you use a bolt or screw and washers to put in the insert.
I've done that repair with a flat washer and channel locks with soap and water lube…
You could have changed the transmission faster.
Lubrication would have fixed the issue of insertion fast. Heck dishwashing liquid would work and no residue and no lube on shifter ball will cause it to ware out again in short order
That poor van was NASTY my condolences
The duplicate scene is actually hilarious! It's showing EXACTLY what insanity is!
On another note… oh my God it frustrating not being able to tell you to go het a 6mm deep socket and push that damn thing in by hand!
I am amazed at how many people bring in and pay money to fix some really crappy cars. And the cars are mostly crappy because the owners are pigs. It gives me hope that I can get many more miles out of my older but well maintained cars. I have always considered cars with over 100K miles somewhat over the hill and only trustworthy for mild local driving. You have taught me otherwise. I love your videos. They have become my guilty pleasure. Fortunately you have enough content out that I should stay busy watching for quite some time.
Interesting process for inserting the little bushing into the end cap with the “C” clamp. You’re way more patient than I. I think my first attempt would have been a little WD40 and a rubber or leather hammer and a good quick bang. Second attempt would have been some grease and a bigger and harder hammer. LOL
Did he apply personal lube?
that car was disgustingly filthy. poor ray he gets the worst turds in the world but polishes em up so theyll operate kudos ray theres more to come. lol
I have realized the error of my ways, the duplicate scene is being removed now. Reeeeeeeeee!!!!
