Charge her $500 for the spring brackets and throw a couple of axels in for free.
I'm no brake expert, but I've never seen a caliper design that required a clap-trap springy bracket thing to keep it from rattling. Amazing how the other designers managed to keep their caliper design quiet.
Can’t you just change the boots with added gease to save$$$? Axels are still good
don't you have some sort of MOT -MINISTRY of TRANSPORT authority in the US like we do in the UK
Some people have no business owning or driving a car. This person is a hazard to everyone on the road.
America is shocking for poorly maintained and unsafe vehicles, from tyres to everything else.
Why would u not replace the CV boot all that’s going to happen is it going to throw grease everywhere dry out and then destroy the bearings ,there CV joint boots they cost hardly anything and cost 5x more to fix when the CV joint goes ,some customers are crazy
"And because I have two of these, and because they paid for two of these, I'm going to install two of these."
Absolute gigachad line
Do you offer to just replace the boot? I had my mechanic do this a couple years ago and the axle's are still fine. Not sure what the cost difference would be.
I've been wondering Ray…have you ever had someone who REALLY needed to fix something on their vehicle, declined repair, and ended up coming back within the week because what you could've fixed finally fully broke?
I hate those springs wife and mother in law have edges. the mother in law's always fall off while she drives.
I am pretty sure that if the boots on my car were like that it would not get a WOF ( Warrent of Fitness ) to be able to drive on the roads in New Zealand. I like your vids learning a lot,
are you paid by the hour or flat rate. i spent many years on flat rate
in dealerships
For once the car is clean inside :).
I wish it was a Lamborghini.
This guy being a better mechanic then alot of guys out there … one handed. Hahaha
Rain Man you tryed.
Love the racing slicks on the front 👌 😄
Well…..
I’ll just run those dry axle joints until they explode and destroy my front hubs and transaxle.
I wouldn't want those nasty gloves on my steering wheel.
Why are you driving a car that has two worn out tyres? What would happen if you were pulled over by the police while driving it?
Can you not just change the CV boot and pack it up with grease?
— Is there any reasonable repair you can do on a blown CV boot without yanking the axel?
I dont understand why do the have to replace the axels just replace the rubber boot
I've worked on a few ford Fusions. Having busted CV boots seems to be a common thing for them. Mostly just driver side though.
That customer will be back when the cv axels start making noise and eventually seize.
That car would fail inspection in the UK.
If they had the money to replace the axel, the tires had No been like that..
What the obsession of changing the axles on every split cv boot that comes in. Does the upsell team not offer just boots or outer cv joints?
Fair play to your honesty 👍 from 🇬🇧.
steering wheel, doors , shifter !!! yuck
gloves are greasy
Ray… like your repair skills
but
please change your gloves
THE greaser in you comes out..
arrgh !!!
Thanks for not changing the glove's before rubbing them all over the steering wheel
New tyres on the back…
why would you not sort the CV boots? So stupid, hopefully it will cost them more in the long run, teach them a lesson
Sometimes you sound depressed, but that's only when I listen to your videos at normal speed. As soon as I set them to 2X playback speed, you sound very happy and upbeat again. Of course, you drive really fast while obeying the speed limit at 2X speed as well. But that's none of my business. :- P Thanks for some awesomely satisfying videos. Tons of vicarious satisfaction for all those who have been emotionally traumatized at some point in their past by a repair job that did not go as planned. You make even the 'oh crap' moments look easily solvable. :- D
Looked like $650.00 labor on those rattle clips.😉
Then you can throw in the axles for free.
Here in the UK those boots would fail the mot inspection.
They'll be back once the cv joints start making noise
The rattle wouldn't be a problem but in the UK and Europe (most of it) they wouldn't let you drive the car and it would definately fail the yearly "MOT" test with those split CV boots. i just don't get how the (supposedly) most advanced country in the world has such poor safety regulations when it comes to your vehicles. Annual safety checks should be mandatory in all states but they're not!
If the cv boot is leaking grease like that, the owner need to change ASAP. Water will damage really quickly if driven in wet condition for more than a month or so. Hear clicking noise while turning good luck with it
Great job Manny the mammoth from Ice Age.Keep up the good work.
I had a Taurus and those clips have a tendency to come off ,,those fords suck I replaced the right rear brake and rotor 3 times in 70k miles it would wear into metal all the other brakes would be fine.
It's easy to get jaded after years on the job. But we must remember that we are not walking in that person's shoes. My dad always said don't judge a person until you walk a mile in the their moccasins. One person here made a comment about the latest phone. That's jaded if i ever seen it. We can't make tires at home. We can however put on a quick boot kit. Sure its not the best fix but it will be a great temp fix. I drive an old 02 Ford Explorer. It has 229000 miles on it. Does it have a few problems, yeah. I bought it used for 700 bucks with 800 in new tires and looked to be in great shape. Now it is being repaired as i can afford it. Has this car been driven unsafe, yes because of the tires. During this pandemic I've had 4 jobs due to companies being shut down. So money can be hard to come by and with things costing so much more because everyone is jumping on the price gouging/ shortage garbage that due to the obvious lack of oversight by mr.bullshite biden letting them get away with. So before you say what a person is going through or doing, make sure your house is in order as well. But really its none of yours or my business. Do your job, keep your mouth shut. That's all we get paid for. Not being a fortune teller.
I'm always amazed in this day/age they cannot make some sort of material for CV boots that don't rip/tear so easily. I replace them myself so no labor cost but damn it happens way too often/frequent on every car…
Give it some time and the CV joints will start making noise.
Just another Fucked Over Rebuilt Dodge .
I had been having a bad time trying to get a bent control arm fixed, great news, I hit a pot hole so hard it bent itself back to a more drivable position or less noticeable warp, either way that’s the closest it’s getting to being fixed as every shop I’ve been too the guys all say there is nothing wrong. But now it will be even harder for them to detect
Ray do you not just replace the torn CV boots and refill with grease instead of ordering new axles??
