I would run gallon of diesel fuel through oil returns to flush again
Wow how lawyerly the language. Let me guess that parents wanted you to be a litigator?
Can you carbon-date the filter?
You solved the mystery of Jimmy Hoffa!
The cooling passages on that poor motor reminded me of those that I encountered on my '41 Ford (n tractor last year. It stsrted as an oil pump rebuild, then I noticed that there was a bunch of gunk in the passages surrounding the cylinders. I stuffed greased rags in the cylinders and powerwashed and dug out endless quantities of what must have been radiator stop-leak. I had to use bore brushes and lots of elbow grease to clean it. It's 82 and runs great.
It was nasty
Wow! Non of that looked good. Was that my son's vehicle? lol
Horrible set of circumstances,, haa but wondering how it pans,, out, get it,? Pans? Haa
I have to say I fully expected the coolant that came out. I didn't expect the sludge, but after a bit I realized that I should have.
That engine had obviously been running on plain water for quite a while, and that is often (these days, at least) a sign that the coolant is leaking out. And it may have just been the lighting, but when you were cleaning out that lifter cavity, I was thinking "the sides of this thing sure look like rust under the oil". That would probably only happen if it was circulating water to build up rust. And of course a lot of that rust would have washed into the pan and formed a layer of sludge.
'wanna buy a car? It was owned by an old lady, just driving to the church on sunday. Maintenanced every 6 months'
Oh man. I am just feeling lucky my car has nowhere the amount of problems this car has. Is that repair even worth it? How much did you charge your client lol?
Would it have made sense to remove the oil pan and clean it out manually?
??? What was that crap? It didn't look like "sludge"? It's "fibrous"? Like "mouse nest"?? WTF? How'd that get in there?
Wet Vac it
That was excellent Ray 👍🇺🇸 I can't say that I've ever seen one that bad…… 👀
Should have used the shop vacuum
Discusstine
The owner should be charged with vehicular abuse!
Swamp buggy cooling system
Very nasty engine
I had a 2000 jimmy with 240k on the clock when I finally sold it and they are almost unkillable. I abused the crap out of it, bought it with 180k on the clock for a winter beater and it just took all the beading. The only thing I maintained was the brakes, shocks and engine oil, everything else was left to suffer, to fix it properly would have cost 2x what it was worth so I had to draw a line somewhere.
Bring it back to liiiiffffeeee!!!
TALK ABOUT NEGLECT!
I still have the occasional guy that states that he only puts water in his radiator and the car runs fine.
Where is the Rotor Rooter man when you need him? How can someone let an engine get like that? If that engine was an animal the govt would get the owner for animal abuse. LOL Some people just add oil and never change it, never flush the radiator, etc.
Insane filth in that engine
Now that is dirty
Just unplug the life support equipment and let it die a peaceful death!
You need a good shop vac.
A 2000 Jimmy? Sounds like a honey for the money.
The gas in the tank is worth more thsn this gm.
how is that thing still running???
I had a girl friend who had a ford Escort and she bought it new and she said she nevered had the oil changed so I told her I would do it . When I opened the drain the oil came out grease. Had to flush the motor and the oil filter was clogged up tight. I could not believe it did not blow up with 71,000 miles on it.
Please people take the auto to someone like Rainman and or any mechanic, have the car checked out before you buy, if you don't know squat about cars! The old mechanic's trick on a 5 quart pan is to dump the oil after repairs, get some cheap oil and replace 1 qt with trans fluid. If it runs drive for 500 miles and dump it. You might have to do it twice on a engine with this much sludge. The trans fluid has the best cleaners in it
clean one owner…………………….
that was a dead end not a coolant passage.
Really sad how people act on the internet. They don't have the ballz to act like that in person.
My biggest complaint to you is that the oil pan should have come off for cleaning it and the pickup screen. I bet before long it will be back with a stopped up screen or a blown engine. Sorry.
That’s a 350 with two cylinders missing.
I really wanted to see what the inside of that oil pan looked like.
Good job on what you've done. 👍👍
Whoever owns this vehicle doesn’t deserve a vehicle Put them back on a bicycle
Add a spoon to your extremely comprehensive tool armoury for times like this
It looks like someone upper-decked the radiator…but there was no mention of smell
Could it have been creek water? Maybe they over heated on the road and used ditch water to fill the rad.
That’s seriously minging ! 🤢🤢
Thats stop leak, put in form the intake leak thay had ,trying to fix it from leaking and over heating . I have see a few done like this crap and i ask, you put any stop leak in it ,was it over heating. Nope. I fixed intake started truck, ran it few sec . Put antifreeze in it . Poor out the tale pipe .make call .ok pull heads off ,ok . Pulled heads . Off . More cracks the a broken window. Then he didn't want to pay . For the first part of job fixing the .intake .then he didnt want to put money into geting heads . One thing Dont lie to your mechanic. We know better. People you still have to pay to find out you junk your motor . Not my falt .
How about the full length Video.
I agree Ray, engine was NASTY. How much was the bill?
Do you have the link showing the removal of the head?
Wow!
Over here in Scotland normally that would have been a mess from a scrap yard
Can’t wait for the full length version👍
