Ray, love the videos first of all! However, the HDR puts a damper in the experience. YouTube cannot upload good HDR content which results in random brightness spikes making it hard to watch HDR videos at night. There is no way to disable HDR viewing in settings, it can only be prevented by you uploading it without it.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars LORD, IT'S PROBING TIME 666 says:

Guess time. I'm 14.30 in and Ray is about to connect his expensive Fluke mutimeter in line and assuming they drove this in that morning I'm guessing it's a MAJOR current draw to flatten a perfectly good battery that fast so, clamp meter I think would have been advisable FIRST. I'm expecting his mutimeter to either blow a fuse (if it has one on it's amp setting) or it to let the magic smoke of death escape or Ray to VERY quickly disconnect it and maybe save it. I may be wrong but doubt it. Playing the rest now.
Well, I was wrong sort of. It obviously does have a current drain but it isn't continuous so …
BTW, it weren't anyfin ter do wit me, that 666 aint mine lol.

So what caused the tire to wear so bad? I think there is more to the problem than a new tire will fix.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sandmansa says:

Hey Ray. That scanner you have, it needs to be registered with Snap-on Security Link and you need to setup an account with AutoAuth. It's like $50 a year, I think. Oh, and you need WiFi access to use it. You will need this for any Chrystler product made 2018 and up. And pretty soon, GM's will start using secure gateway too. So, you might want to look into that. That 12+8 cable some people are talking about is made for Autel scan tools.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dave S says:

Ray. The stand up thing would be to get a temp job at the Jeepler/Fiat dealership so you could have access to the keys to the kingdom and get this poor customer's issue resolved. I don't have much confidence in the techs that are already in the trenches figuring this one out. Oh, and a new tire at dealer price. OEM 'n all.

It's pretty sad my 20 year old car with basically almost all original everything and 4x the mileage drives better than a 3-year old Jeep. Then again, I got a Toyota. Isn't all this stuff the guy is going in for under warranty…? Jeep needs to fix this dude's vehicle for free.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Blazer a says:

That A! with a circle around it. Is usually the AUX battery. I have a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and it is a very common problem. Also the vehicle will throw weird random codes. In addition to the Start/Stop warning light I had a service shifter soon warning to go along with it. After I replaced both batteries everything went back to normal. There is a security bypass module (under $50) that will let your scan tool work. I use OBDLink MX+ with AlfaOBD. Works fine for my needs.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mystery Mark says:

Hey ray. I need some help of professionalism…. Ok I'm working on 2008 Pontiac G6 it has reduced engine power & it idle's fine no misses or nothing I think it's the TPS cause it runs awesome just goes up to 4 RPMS. But besides all that now when I plug in the MAP sensor all it does is crank & no start but when I unplug the MAP sensor it starts & runs fine despite of the reduced engine power but I think I have that part figured out. It's just the MAP sensor o ya also when I plug the MAP sensor in while it's running it dies instantly so if you have any idea of what it could be please let me know cause I'm ready to just throw a grenade in it & say it's done LOL. I don't know if this is another symptom of a bad TPS or not I just need some input that you might know what could be causing the MAP sensor to act up & it's brand new matter of fact I have 2 brand new ones they both do the same thing when I plug them in…. I think I pretty much summed up everything I'm experiencing

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Donald Halls says:

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Liebler says:

ray, that year jeep has a gateway module which lives behind the dash panel or behind the radio/touch screen system. takes a 2 plug adapter to connect and thats where your diagnostics and clearing dtcs are done.

Hey Ray, something I've noticed the 2.4 liter "multiair" engines tend to seep coolant out of the headgaskets, I saw it probably 5-6 times when I used to be a lube tech. Switched over to welding but I'm just curious if you've seen this too

If I can't plug in to my own vehicle to see what it's saying, they can have it back, and I'll choose another vehicle.

  56. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jimmy S says:

I ran into this on a newer Jeep. And Dodge. Your forced to pay a $50 yearly fee to access those ECU now. Your scanner will need to be connected to the WIFI at the shop too. It is a matter of time the other makers will do this crap too.

  57. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Matthew Caughey says:

That kids is why you don’t buy a Chryiat. Like most things automotive and Italian your reliability after the warranty is up becomes questionable. And the computer lockout is why right to repair is a good law. It prevents you from having to go to the stealership, once there I’ll bet that jeep owner got racked for 4 new tires and a “ diagnostic “ fee at minimum. Last time I got ripped off by one was for a coil pack issue which should have been covered under my Hyundai 100k engine warranty. Instead they racked me for 118 bucks for new spark plugs plus they loosened my right front tire. After looking close I figured out they replaced the #3 coil pack ( and I reinstalled the Bosch plugs they took out ). I picked up another coil to have on hand. Next time it happened I just replaced that one coil and problem solved. From that point until the car blew up I kept a spare coil in my home toolbox ( the car died at 128,000 miles when it just would not turn over, I could crank and crank till I burned out the starter which i did burn out. Once replaced the starter did not solve the issue and the car refused to rev past 4K suspect a timing issue there. Anyways I needed a new exhaust system on it then the power steering rack went. Car was worth 300 bucks and needed 1200 in repairs. Was not worth the money. )

  64. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Wozniak says:

only 55000 miles and that tire is that bad…something seem afoot

  65. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Lawman says:

So, the customer has to go to the dark side. No telling what Jeep is going to rip them for.
I’ve gone through a number of cars in the last 60 years, and I avoid dealers whenever possible, which is 90% of the time.
    They’re either incompetent or crooks.
I had a Ford diesel, I bought new. Back to the dealer three times for. Hard start when cold. Replaced the injector pump three times.
Finally, I took it to an independent shop. $150 glow plug controller. Problem solved.

  67. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tracy Sellman says:

Yes, Ray, I was just going to say don't these new-fangled Jeeps in 2019 have a secondary battery for start and stop, I think under the rear passenger seat or floorboard. Like Advanced Level Diagnostics said in the comments, (wait a minute, is that Keith with ALD commenting? Good old Eric O. from SMA and Ivan at PHD friend? Wow if it is guys we are in the presents of Royalty Keith is a legend.) But the 2nd battery could be the problem. Good try on this one Ray, it's just a JEEP thing. lol

  68. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars William Basinger says:

Hey Ray it’s a jeep thing

  69. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars GD Reclaimed says:

That 1 bad tire bugs me. If the aux battery that I see mentioned in the comments is where they say it is then it makes me wonder if the car hit something with that tire and threw it up into the aux battery? I also wonder if there is suspension damage on that corner as well?

  70. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jason Knox says:

I did notice that when you were doing the test drive the radio display was blacked out, but worked at the end of the vid when you were driving out of the bay. My conclusion… Yes! 79. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Psichlo1 says:

It's ridiculous that manufacturers are more and more trying to force customers to the dealers to get work done; especially when dealerships are known for shady and piss poor maintenance. This is honestly something that consumers should address with their wallets. Unfortunately, too many people don't do diligent research before purchasing a vehicle.

  80. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MintyMilk says:

  81. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Aaron Burson says:

I'm sorry Ray but I just can't stand most people. They complain about their vehicle doing this or that and they themselves SHOULDN'T be allowed to drive. That driver side front tire is a prime example. Great videos just the same.

  87. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rad Racer says:

Like many others have said, this most likely is a bad auxiliary battery. They go bad and drain the main battery; once the battery gets low on these things, they do crazy random things. As for accessing the system, there are bypass cables you can purchase for pretty cheap. They require it as a "security" measure.

  88. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Preston James says:
