Hey Ray, as a gunsmith that deals with a fair amount of rust on metal, a carding wheel on a buffer will take it off really fast without hurting anything, 0000 steel wool does a good job too, and is cheaper, just takes longer. Glad you and your family are safe!

When doing your first pour out of a one gallon jug, pour from the opposite side. Seems non intuitive, but it works like a charm. No spill, stays nice and shiney. Glad you're safe. go easy on yourself. You've been through a lot.

It always feels weird returning from a catastrophe. Tornadoes when I was growing up, 9/11 when I was in downtown Chicago, flooding in my current town, wildfires, and so many others. Getting back to the usual grind is so odd. Rewarding, nice, mundane and meaningless.

Hurricanes are assholes. In New Orleans after Ida, I went back to work a couple of days after, because it was a hardware store that had power, and people needed our stuff. I was grateful for AC and charging, but felt like a work zombie. Then I'd go home to no power and sweltering temps. I feel ya, bro.

Hey Ray I work for an auto part store and my best suggestion if you are working on any diesel get the oil before you pull the plug since there is a supply shortage of that particular oil you are using , no joke you may encounter yourself in a pretty tight situation if you can’t find the proper oil it did happen to a lot of the shops around town within this past few weeks. And if there is something which bothers me is the fact the service advisors start to put pressure in our end when the problem could be addressed from the beginning by making sure the guys find the parts first before start wrenching. I hope everyone is doing alright and let’s try to get back to normal 😊.
After having been through a tiny bit of stuff myself, I'll let you know it gets better day by day. The good news is you have a hell of a good governor there, and Floridians are damn tough people. If that had happened where I live, the whole place would have descended into hell and it would look like the zombie apocalypse. We're all pullin for you and you neighbors.

What you need to do is get a special Fiat repair kit. It consists of a sledgehammer, an angle grinder, and some TNT.
Ray, your truck is a diesel. Fresh oil will look like that in 5 minutes of running.
