Hey Ray, as a gunsmith that deals with a fair amount of rust on metal, a carding wheel on a buffer will take it off really fast without hurting anything, 0000 steel wool does a good job too, and is cheaper, just takes longer. Glad you and your family are safe!

When doing your first pour out of a one gallon jug, pour from the opposite side. Seems non intuitive, but it works like a charm. No spill, stays nice and shiney. Glad you're safe. go easy on yourself. You've been through a lot.

It always feels weird returning from a catastrophe. Tornadoes when I was growing up, 9/11 when I was in downtown Chicago, flooding in my current town, wildfires, and so many others. Getting back to the usual grind is so odd. Rewarding, nice, mundane and meaningless.

Hurricanes are assholes. In New Orleans after Ida, I went back to work a couple of days after, because it was a hardware store that had power, and people needed our stuff. I was grateful for AC and charging, but felt like a work zombie. Then I'd go home to no power and sweltering temps. I feel ya, bro.
