i dont know if its still done but , rotors an drums that shipped from overseas came with a rust preventative sheat/ paper . i use them in the tool box drawers an works pretty good . great vid again , thanks
in Uk most places won't repair a puncture if in outer third of tyre
If you tried to make the auto parts people pay for a lost sale they would probably tell you that if you wanted the part faster you should of pick it up yourself.
That tire repair took some college training
Don't you worry about talking about Ian. I am from Louisiana and know all about it. Besides, there is not a spot in this country which doesn't have extreme weather of some description.
The definition from Merriam Webster Dictionary : a removable outer metal band on an automobile wheel to which the tire is attached. There you go Ray so you can look at the definition and you can decide what you will call it.
Its a a nissan… Those levers were probably recently replaced… On my 3rd set of door handles for my '13 pathfinder..
Piston compressors are really inefficient, screw type are much better and have dropped in price drastically the last few years.
Could the musty smell be the towel in the back seat?
Tops to your wife re wiper blades. In the 'nid 70s on a Saturday it was repair/modification day at my parents'. Mates of different trades. My wife-to-be was active and learnt, 7 years later she repaired the left front of her brother's car. Whilst the removal was OK the wrecking yard tried to rip them off with a calliper. My wife asked for another. Bro's car was repaired and thus a family story.
Youre talking about a 1-2000 watt laser unit to strip off rust like your demo. about $10,000 to start..
I'm an old school machinist and we used to put blocks of camphor in each drawer, the oil evaporates and coats the tools and smells good too.
Yes, I did enjoy this video. All of them in fact.
In your most humblest opinion. Does nitrogen O2 mixture better or same as 100% O2 in a tire? Would being in different parts of the country be any kind of factor In the effectiveness of N O2 vs 100% O2.
The laser cleaners can be used for stripping paint too. I also want one.
I have see that lazier system in action….works great. Mucho expensive $$$$$$. But yeah very nice.
You may be interested to know in the 1930s and earlier, what we call a dip stick, was originally called a bayonet guage.
Love watching you do what you do.
Leave the bare metal tool in the sun for a few minutes and then wipe them down with just about any oil. Clean off the excess, the metal will absorb a minuscule amount of the oil and retard the oxidation.
Don’t forget to check the wiper blade when you get home and then compliment the wife unit on her excellent efforts.
The nissan air filter design is very stupid.
Get some d gel from a phone man eats rust safe for hands smells like oranges. I believe the active ingredient is derived from orange peelings. D lemonine?
Theory amongst mobile tire repair techs is Rain makes nails, etc lol stand on end causing increase in flats .
Next best to a laser, steel wool and wd40.
Hey man, I’ve been watching your videos for a while. I am having a little bit of an issue I would like to ask you for some advice I have a 2000 1500 Silverado four-wheel-drive with a 5.3 L in it and I am replacing the shift cable because it’s worked. I’ve gotten to a new one put it in, but it doesn’t seem like it wants to shift gears at all like it’s a two piece connector and it doesn’t seem like it wants to click together at all and I wanted to ask you what I can I do to get that fixed
SPRAY BOTTLE WITH BRAGGS ACV AND MIX WITH WATER HALF N HALF…IT WILL ELIMINATE EVERY MILDEWEY VAPOR…
Didn't fancy removing the debris from the air filter housing then Ray? Or is that only if there is an air filter sale😂
Judging by state of air filter, smell will be caused by rotting leaf debris in the airbox below wipers !
You like Russian accents so how about "daspedanya" (transliteration)
Without watching the whole video, a musty smell can come from the air conditioning on start up due to built up water in the evaporator coil
👍 👍
i love my 3/8 stubby impact. i can get it within 5-10ftlbs of were i need it to be.
Wife unit… I like that
I wonder if the spare tire well in the back is doing an impersonation of a kiddie pool? 🤔
Brake cleaner at its best 👌
I like oil changes lol
You do know you don’t have to take the bolt and clips out to change the air filter 😂
just as a note if you look michelin tires like on that car have the little tire man several times along the out side of the tread fun note
Good Job for you wife Ray!
How do you get away with calling her your "wife unit"? She must have a good sense of humour.
Ray you should make a t shirt that has your phone interpretation on it, like Der dee derr dee doo, absolutely love your content, keep up the great work
I live here in Reno. I needed a tire patched. No tire shop in town puts a patch on the inside. They just plug. Glad to see you doing old school.
Hey is it true many car insurance companies are turning down claims due to the hurricane? I know home insurance is giving people the old "You don't have flood insurance" scam so I was wondering about autos. Answer if your job allows
Don't forget you got an arraignment at family court with the Chickens…
I can't get over the level of detail you put in some of the most menial of tasks. this is the definitive sign of a GREAT MECHANIC!!! You actually and genuinely care about your job and the customers you service. If I lived anywhere near Florida, you'd DEFINITELY be my go to guy! Keep up the god work Ray. DOOOODLE DEE DOOOO!!! 😂😂
I noticed at my work, the 1st years don't even clean the inside..they just throw a patch on and call it a day..
After that patch …
The wheel bearing needs repacking.
That looks like a new lift compared to the one next to it.
Mr Spock vulcanizing…
very logical.
breakfree clp and some 0000 steel wool will clean that rust right up. Put a light coat of clp on them before you store them and no more rust.
Muriatic acid….and it works well on service writers papercuts .
A Wire-wheel works good for quickly de-rusting tools also..
Here In good ol Michigan we call inner liner seal, bead seal. I use it to go over the patch but also on the bead of the wheel to make the wheel and tire seal better because corrosion Is always a big problem here and the corrosion can build up so thick it makes tires leak.
Musty smell…depends who they are..did they sweat or we're they wet.
Much caffeine Ray?
Long time sub liked the "welding pliers" and know you reference. I use an ozone machine to combat interior odors. That client's vehicle appears to require a good cleaning and perhaps Auto Shocker ClO2 car interior odor eliminator as the owner smelled musty. You do have a legitimate claim on your employer's inability to secure readily available parts, at your loss.
Is this job here really a front for your actual business of your YouTube Channel that makes more than your sideline job?
I love the Pew Pew. Lol
Ray, tell the parts delivery guy that you will remove one part from his vehicle for every sale you miss because the parts are late.
Wife unit. Love it!!
You want a rust laser? So does us Michiganders. XD I remember seeing that laser when it first came out. Me and my friend were flipping out watching the videos. lol
We used to have a great way for compressing air in an adiabatic way. In Ontario there was a station that made compressed air to deliver to bussinesses with a man made waterfall of sorts. The waterfall would pull air down with it and the pipe where the water travelled took the air and there'd be a bell where the air would gather. Since the water is always with the air it keeps it at the water temperature at all times so there is little moisture in the air and the system basically relies solely on water flow.
Short video but it was nice spending time with you. Have a good day ray.
RUSTY TOOLS …. wire wheel the rust off, then spray them with cheap hairspray ! (laquer), no more rust !
personally, I think that repair was far too close to the sidewall. I would have recommended a tire, and made them sign a waiver if they elected to have us patch it.
While I appreciate the paper protection, I really dislike when they are left in my vehicle for me to get rid of.
Good old Nissan oil caps welding themselves to the valve cover
We have a 2017 rouge, it's been a great vehicle. First service i replaced axle, transmission fluid, transfer case fluid to all amsoil synthetics including engine. Great video ray. 👍
RayRay for President
Just a heads up Ray, I am a Tech at a higher end dealer. I have seen many of our cars come in with water intrusion issues and found the carpet to be dry to the touch. This happens because of the way our carpets are made and other manufacturers may be the same. We have a vapor barrier of sorts between the carpet surface and the very thick layer of foam below the carpet surface. Sometimes many gallons of water will be in a car and the customer won't know until there are corrosion issues, creating warning messages on the dash. I have found the manufactures do this to make room for wiring harnesses and structural supports under the carpet. Not to say there was water under the carpets in your case, I uphold my respect for you as a mechanic! Love the vids.
Paper floor inserts- water presence detector
Try (Blaster) metal rust remover bath cleans rust of tools, not as fun as the Lazer rust remover but way cheaper
I’m surprised Kalifornia hasn’t mandated we use electric tools already. I’d rather use the battery ones anyways, as I don’t have to drag around an air hose.
The big water tornadoes are good for our trees as long as they aren’t really strong clears out the trees.
Maybe the musty smell was coming from the a/c.
That rust laser, as we all do
WD40 is great surface rust remover for tools!
LOL! Wife unit.
good evening
Chalk,or charcoal, inthe toolbox to prevent rust, I think.
you wouldn't want to use that rust removing laser on a lot of the vehicles you seem to get as there wouldn't be much left of them afterwards
I had this EXACT thing happen to me; screw in my tire. There is another story behind this but I will keep this comment short. I couldn’t get to a repair place because of the job with long hours. The tire held up for a day and a half and the screw worked its way out and I was on the side of the freeway putting on my spare. Tire is destroyed.
First person in a long time I've seen correctly patch a tire from the inside snd and take the extra time to add sealant internally. Good job 👏 👍 👌 🙌
please let us know whether or not the wife unit did indeed install the wiper blades correctly
Very good video. Now I know how to change my engine air filter on my Rogue.
Nothing against snap on but Milwaukee all the way
Have a great day Ray
Instead of wasting your time on the interior of the vehicle I would be more concerned about the differential and the transmission to make sure the gear oil wasn`t milky or that the transmission fluid didn`t have any water in it then i would check the interior
Dear Ray, look like you use regular compress air for that nail tire but it had a Azote valve cap already ?? does your chop have Azote air refill ? All the best keep safe with hurricane season
And it was on this day that I learned modern tires no longer have tubes. Geez.
The tire makes a satisfying 'pop' when installed! 😀
Wife unit? 😁 Sounds like " The Coneheads " !!
Those specific nissan oil caps and alot of honda caps just get really stuck on, even if it wasnt put back on over tight. I like to use some soft-handled pliers and use the handle end as a bit of an assist to open them without straining muscles or causing an overuse of force which has sliced my digits on adjacent sharp edges plenty of times.
This is why I will very rarely spray tools, nearly wipe only
I'm sure there is a lawyer willing to take your money so you can recoup the lost filter sale.
It used to be known as a rim, then modern humans started changing the name to everything and it is now called wheel.
Ray, maybe try some OSPHO for the surface rusting??
When the tire is balanced does it stay balanced as it wears?
Hey Ray, love your videos. Glad you’re back. You inspired me to go get some wobbly extensions. Thanks, man.
Cleaning vinegar will take the rust off
Nice to hear Rays voice back in the groove again.. thanks Ray–Ian….UK
RR you pull the floor mats and look for condensation on the bottom of the mats. Then you know.
Since the oxidation is not super uniform, I assume the laser method would probably leave a lot of pitting
Very informational video Ray! I'll be watching more videos of yours. Thanks for sharing this laser cleaning video, I really appreciate it😃
