always nice to watch a pro at work
Ive been running roll offs for around 6 years. Those pins that pop up up front dont do much. Ive seen boxes pop over those. The cable tension is what holds it on. I used to have a trailer that could haul two of those at a time and it doesnt have locking pins just stops and adjustable hooks

Suggest you do a pit and a lift, so it is dual purpose. No need to lift for fluid changes, but you would have a dual purpose bay. This is what I'm going to do in my personal garage. Just a suggestion. You can dig your own pit and build walls and have it as big as you want it.

First part of the video I have seen multiple times how those truck works, but I will hate to be driving behind one if "DEBRIS" flies backward away from the netting that rolls on top of the dumpster.

I ran a water treatment facility in Massachusetts. We generated sludge from the process and filled a 30 yard dumpster each week. Typically the loads were 18-19 tons. Each pick up the front wheels would come off the ground 1-2 feet as they picked up the heavy load. Scary crazy sometimes.

I work a a foundry and all the slag that comes off the melt gets loaded into those roll offs well we have over loaded them on several occasions and the front wheels of the truck are several feet in the air and the driver is non stop cussing its like oops but it's only three quarters full by volume

If someone came up with a similar system for smaller dumpsters that could fit in a typical garage, without damaging the floor, they would make tons of money. How many of us have tons of crap in our house that we would love to get rid of but the HOA doesnt allow things like this? There is a market for this for sure.

I did that job for a scrap metal yard for a couple summers when I was in my 20's. We didn't have auto tarps back then…. Had to climb all over the dumpster to tarp it. I ended up with a lot of damaged boot soles (and my feet). Then, I bought a new pair, and took them to a real shoe repair shop. I had 2 inches of extra rubber hot glued to the soles. We used a semi truck tire to supply the rubber. I never got a hole in my foot again!

Buddy of Steve and I back in MA owns a dumpster company. He has I think 4 roll off's. Great business.
They used this same truck and dumpster concept when they tore down an old abandoned church that was owned by the company I work for that had neglected it and used it as an annex. I can only imagine how heavy that thing was with all the bricks and debris inside.

Im excited to see how your shop turns out, and I still say you will need help within a year. Atleast a shop hand for cleaning, stocking, and getting parts. You never know, you could influence them to be an honest mechanic.
Why not just a hook mount, so you don't have to deal with the winsch?

Watching that dumpster-hauler was kind of interesting. I was not aware of that top cover feature. I am always amazed by hydraulic cylinders. So much force can be applied- and yet, they don't leak where they telescope! Doesn't seem possible that you can exert so much fluid force and yet it just pushes the ram out, without spraying all over the place. (A hydraulic setup can lift TONS and stay dry, yet my kitchen sink mixer valve always leaks when I select hot water. It's always something, isn't it?)

You need to get the history of why that little cement building was left inside the big metal one and not removed. It was there in a 1978 aerial photo but not there in 1974.
