Free tip for you folks at a Chevrolet of course. Uh, Malibu25 Got the classic P0411 code came from the other shop. of course they've already unloaded the Parts Canon Made all the profit on the job. We got the new director valve, the new air pump.
Uh, this is such a problem on these cars. DM even has a bolt and tell me what's wrong with it. but the ports inside the head plug up. It's a pretty common issue.
There's a port here. one here, one here, one here. You've got to pull these soft plugs out, clean out the passages from where the diverter valve goes on over to here, and then the 3 16 drill bit right straight through the head to clean that out. Need these soft plugs? You can get them right from Dorman They make them here.
They are. They go in nice and easy. Here's your part number on those and you get the old ones out. Just drill a hole through them, stick a screw in them little slide hammer Bob's your uncle.
you guys have a nice day.
Chev Of course….:)
45 years ago when I was first beginning to work on engines, I thought the only thing Dorman made was freeze plugs and tubing fittings. That was all I ever saw with their name on it for years.
Dorman made something that works?!?
Your great at helping us, thanks
will we get to see you do that in a dif video
Cool never heard of that repair. That's why Eric is the man….
๐๐ง๐ฏ
How many miles are on that malibu? I have a 2013 with 110k miles. Well, when I bought the car for $500 it had a nice inspection window on the block so the replacement engine had 75k on it. Looked really clean on both sides of the head, not like the engine I pulled out.
WTF are they teaching in automotive engineering school? absolute garbage!
Hiya Eric
Bob's yer effin uncle
Ha, I have a cruze in the shop that looks exactly like this, except I'm replacing the oil cooler ๐
Quick mechanic tip: don't buy this car. Ever.
I would like to see a full video on that
You must have been watching, 'World's Fastest Indian'
OH NOOOOO! You said the "D" word…Dorman
Wait a minute, Bob IS my uncle. IT'S LIKE YOU *KNOW*. ๐ณ
Parts cannon repaired my 2.2 cobalt po411
How do you know if the ports are clogged up?
I have a 2013 Malibu ls
Would the metal shavings from drilling through the plug not cause any issues?
Seeing you use Dorman parts, the customer mustโve been desperate to get their car back and couldnโt wait on the good stuff (if that even exists anymore).
Dorman, I canโt believe I heard that here?!๐๐คฃ๐คฃ
Every time Iโm servicing my cars & I complete a job I always mumble, โAnd Bobโs your uncle.โ
Pull out like frost plug
Actually my uncle was named Marvin. Does that matter? ๐
I hear a taaapppy tap tap on the reinstall of the plugs.
Hey that's what all the 'Flood Cars' look like over here, except it's inside the Car too!
How to handle a parts cannon shop? Hundreds or thousands later and the same problem. Court?
O.M.G.!! You used the "D" word!! I'll bet the Doorman rep had heart failure! And Robert REALLY IS your mother's brother!
Bob was my dad. Dick is my uncle.
Wasnโt that the same engine you put in the Cadillac??
Along with many other issues with these junk mobiles
At least Dorman makes good soft/core/frost plugs๐๐จ๐ฆ
Roberts your mothers brother
Itโs Wednesday. Just saying ๐
Luv me sum SMA
Wonder if something like BG44K would help.
Maybe your neighboring shops should subscribe to your channel? ๐คฃ
Very interesting paint selection for an engine. What color would say that is? Khaki?๐คทโโ๏ธ๐คฃ
Erik must be ill, recommending Dorman products
The other shop should refund all of their money since they did not fix the original problem that the car was brought in for!
Why has YouTube listed 0 for the comments!
Wow of course it already had the parts cannon shot at it. Looks like another misfire with the new air pump lol. Nice job actually fixing the customer concern.
Do you need any sealant on the new plugs?
Kind of like the Dodge 318's of yesteryear.
The intake ports under the carburetor would plug up with carbon particularly if driving short distances in the winter.
Had a 1979 Dodge D250 pickup that would not idle and would die at red lights.
Mechanic showed me the intake manifold after he took it off the engine. Only way to remove the carbon was with a torch burning it out. He'd set the torch and then go have lunch. When he came back the carbon was all burned out!
๐
Thanks for sharing!
They ever change air or any filters?! Under hood is friggin dusty as the Mojave, no wonder clogged up!
Short and sweet. Thank you
I would like to see that slide hammer action on the soft plugs! Educational purposes, of course!
Never buy Dorman lol
Thanks for sharing mr.o
Hey,
Bob IS my uncle! ๐
Bob's your uncle, great new one.๐. Love your videos. Thank you.
I would need about $2k to do that. How much are you charging? Iโm not a mechanic and would hate doing that so Iโd need motivation money lol.
Good jobe
Bob really is my uncle! Great short too…
Is that 2.5 the same 2.5 (minus turbo) that's in that Cadillac ATS?
She's filthy
๐
Giving the 2.5 the old frontal lobotomy.
Interesting and valuable short.๐
is no one going to address all the dirt on that engine? are they off-roading it? its a farm car… gees people take a hose to your engine once a year..
How many miles on it?
Dorman for the win
Is there a way to prevent this?
