Customer States: Catastrophic FAILURE! Parts FELL OFF while driving! Chevrolet Silverado 5.3 4.8 https://youtu.be/-Hm-DFKBxpU
Seriously, this can't even be real. Get out of here. Look at that. We had it.
It was. It was in the palm of the hand and the thing busted right off. No way like that, right? There is the entire reason that we're here. I I Cannot believe this just happened after how easy this was this entire time we tripped at the Finish Line No way.
There's no way I Refuse to believe it. No way. Ah.
This just happened to me on my 2008 jeep. Had to remove the alternator, last bolt snapped with no room to drill, had to sell it for scrap price cause it wouldn't turn on. Only had 110k miles.
Weld a nut on it don't drill it
You're not a true mechanic if you never had the last bolt snap on you. You're also not a true mechanic if you call it quits and don't find a way to get it out.
honestly man, theres space to drill. It might not be comfortable & you might need a smaller drill but you can make it happen. could even crack out the air pencil drill.
cant drill it out?
Ford?
Yeah, I've been there. Not a fun day 😅
Always the last one!
This reminds me to go change out my manifold bolts 😂😂😂
Looks like it was cracked and ready to fail anyway.
I know you're pain been there had it happen more than once. Get over it and get back to work 😂
The wires going to the fuel level sensor have the polarity reversed. That’s why it’s reading it needs fuel. If it goes off when it’s full to top than just reverse the wires
Welding a nut to it might get it out without requiring a bunch more disassembly
Just mig weld a nut to it.
Weld a nut to it
90° drill and drop the engine mounts.
Takes a few extra min to weld a nut and get it out not even a problem
Looking for the rest of the story.
Exhaust manifold bolts should always be Heat resistant anti seized so that doesn't happen.
I yelled a loud f bomb for you
Bro if the bolt is super tight, bring the torch? why u keep forcing it?
Good excuse to buy a right angle drill
Fix it dude.
I could get it out with my welder by the time you stop whining about it.
If there’s space to see it theres space to drill it, they make hex drive drill bits for a reason, and as much as i hate Milwaukee they make some of the best for that typeof job, if you’re lucky you can get a plate guide to bolt up to the rest and use the drill bushings it comes with to make the job easier, like i did for the ford 5.4 triton, and then heres the best part, you grab a Dewalt 90 degree hex driver that’s impact rated and just go to work with whatever oil the kit says, transmission fluid seems to work best and be universally recommended. Now that is certainly a close one though I’ll give you that
Weld nut to stud, spin nut and stud out did these a lot
Dentist air grinder works great for those areas
Angle drill and extractor? Seriously curious
Better started wrechin', That head gotta come off or the engine is comin' out, one or the other.
Get you a 90 degree drill and a stubby bit 😂
Weld a damn nut to the broken part of the bolt and it will screw right out and you don't have to worry about the weld sticking to the cylinder head because the is aluminum in a MIG welder won't stick to that
Weld a nut onto it
I’ve never had one i couldn’t get out with a welder
Take that little tin heat shield off the cab, move the wiring out of the way, and you now have the room to either weld a nut on it or use a 90-degree 1/8" Chuck die grinder to cut a hole in the bolt that you can Hammer a Twist extractor in
I weld on them all day even below flush. No sweat especially on aluminum head. Never will I do anything but weld and turn them out
There is actually way to drill, just because you can't be creative you are drama queen
Time to grab the welder
Shhhh just fix it ❤
.."tripped at the finish line"…my new quote…thanks
Heat and chill and NEVER EVER use a rattle gun on exhaust nuts and bolts ,,,,
You Sir Learnt the hard way
Mig weld a nut on there will take like 5 min
I did the same thing on my Jeep zj with the 4.0 inline 6 engine. It was the bolt all the way in the back where I had no room to drill. I took the head off and tried to extract the screw but made it worse. Then I ended up spending $500 on a new head because I totally ruined the screw lol
Get over it move on no😂
I have a plus point set of thread drilling guides and other bits and bobs made for these jobs If you wanna borrow them🤷♂️
I had that happen to the egr valve on my 350. Every time something starts off smooth. I get suspicious.
You never had it bro
Weld a nut on it
Idnt understand ppl. USE A DAMN TORCH TO HEAT IT UP BEFORE U TOUCH IT PERIOD.
If this is a big problem your in the wrong line of work easy fix but time consuming
That is a very very very basic extraction of absolutely no set back for a real mechanic. Absolutely zero set back. Put the tools down and go find another profession.
Snapped bolts =tools thrown..😂
Just drill it. There's plenty of room to work.
Put a washer and nut oner and weld it with a stick welder. Stick welder in particular because you can bend the rod in any position you need
Cake
A lot of dryness is everywhere. A little PB can go a long way
Gravy bud, get the mig out..
My heart sank when he pulled the camera away. Same thing happened to me with a snapped crankshaft bolt. It was a nightmare.
Nooo waay! An LS with a broken exhaust manifold bolt at one end? Wait, just one?
Somebody jinxed it bro. bet
Quit being a little bi tch weld a nut and call it a day
…that pain…that pain we've all felt before.
Seriously in the amount of time it took to make the video I could of had it out welder and a nut are your best friend
weld a nut onto it and continue the job, takes like 30 seconds
No one ever breaks out the oxy-acetylene until it's too late. NO ONE !
If you are freaking out about a broken manifold bolt in an aluminum head I can tell your not a good mechanic
You didn’t fail you learned
Ahh yeah. I’ve been here. Took me days of banging my head on the bench trying to get a weld to stick, broken extractors, left hand drill bits and contemplating buying new heads. Finally a weld stuck and got it out.
I do the same shit on hemi trucks all the time i feel this on a real level
replace the cylinder head and have the customer have the other shop pay for it
Looks lile you welded it in bub
Weld it out supper simple
Get out the welder… Those come right out
Extract alloy rod fix that right up
Easy fix break the welder out weld some shit on the end of it
Weld on it
Greenhorn, welder trick is sure bet. I made $700 in a couple hours pulling 3 out of 6.0
Bruh I can get that out in like 15 min .. washer- nut- weld turn out .. done
Steel bolt in aluminum head. Just build up and weld on a new nut then remove. The weld won't fuse the aluminum and steel together. Problem solved. They even make special kits and tools for this exact welding job.
Been there done that more than once. Why I hate mechanicing
Done a thousand of them weld a nut on it. it mite take a few
Use a Welder
Weld a nut and quit your bitching
Go out behind the dumpster, throw up and get back at it🤣🤣
Great moment for a new tool invention. I've some ideas. Could be they're already invented though.
Must be a LS😂😂
Beat the shit out of the extractor, it will splinter and shatter. Eventually, you’ll be able to work it out. The metal is hard but brittle. Use carbon steel puncn
Yes way
Now is a good time to find out if super glue works
Weld on a slightly smaller nut, let it cool as you apply a penetrant and then gently try again.
It that doesn’t work try a right angle drill and an easy out. If that don’t work, use a dermal tool to grind it out to nearly the threads and then try to turn it out. Lastly, drill out to minimum spec of that sized bolt and the retap it
What do you mean " no way" ? That's always the way for me. I try to pick the hardest fastener and do it first.
Weld a stud my friend.
Tap it and pull it out not that hard an extra 30 mi
Right angle drill with left hand drill bit…
Yeah it's always the last bolt the last not it's the one that breaks you
Still easy. 15mins pull out the mig welder weld a washer and nut to it.
Take it right out
Hold the fing phone! All this means is more beers with the boys!!🤘😝🤘
He had to pull the engine and order another engine just to have the one he ordered get “lost” in shipping. Then he tried and succeeded to get the bolt out but messed up the threads pretty bad.
They should've stayed with 3/8 bolts and not the 8mm.
Welder and a 13 mill nut
