Look for a chisel tip for your M12 soldering iron, conical/pointy ones suck, don't hold solder enough solder for heat transfer at least for a beginner like me.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Christopher Saylock says:

Ya know blind people drive busses too.

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Christopher Saylock says:

That’s called a western union splice and it helps to stagger them for diameter sake.

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ED Harry says:

I could never do this , I would get angry and throw it away ! Great job Ray !

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Lewis says:

Nice neat job i commend you for. But the shear waste of time adding devices for the lawyers, the market hungry corporatists, the lobbyists steering the lawmakers……making yet another excuse for not teaching, requiring or embracing COMMON SENSE or cognitive thinking….makes me throw up my hands and vomit. Watching you struggle to diagnose and then repair vechicles that are 1000 times less reliable and now somewhat dangerous if not constantly maintained (oh and now we can't afford to do that because of the massive costs of these throw away vehicles) we are at the summit of FTS and i want my old 62 falcon or 65 mustang back. I could tear apart and rebuild the entire car and keep it running safe for 20 years compared to trying to keep a new vehicle for 5 yrs without going bankrupt. Thx GM, Ford, Chrysler for leading us into darkness. 🕵🤔😳🙏😇🖖✌😍😘🦅🦅

100% AGREE how tech in cars has made people WORSE Drivers and THIS thing… OMG… THIS THING, What a GREAT Idea, Get the Driver Fully annoyed with a car full of kids so now they have a pattern interrupt of annoyance. STUPID!!!!

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James MacIntyre says:

when soldering, use rubbing alcohol to clean the wires after twisting/handling them, then apply flux to keep it clean, then solder.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pun King says:

Why do i feel like a karen was involved with this decision? If i where to get this device in my bus I'd either
A: ask one of the kids to press it for me since i REALLY don't feel like walking allll the way to the back of the bus while my ears are being bombarded with the horn going off. Or B: *put some damn clear tape over the button and pretend it don't exist.*

Or my grampas favorite line when describing horrbile placement of parts in an engine bay. He says "i want it fixed asap"
    Which for him it means:

    As
    Stupid
    As
    Possible

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Eaglei ThrustX says:

Couldn’t agree more about how drivers aids make us worse, well, people actually. My favorite is the auto correcting steering. Nothing beats the feeling of having to fight the car so as to not run over the cyclists I’m drifting around…

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 360Plus Synthetics says:

How do you like the Milwaukee soldering iron? Ive seen you use it in many videos. I've seen good a d bad reviews on it.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Charles Savage says:

You had a nice quiet day to play in the spaghetti 🍝

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ron Oldenbeuving says:

In the 60s and 70s, car owners manuals gave detailed instructions on how to set the valve clearances. Now, they tell you not to drink the battery acid.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brandon Adams says:

You know you can also strip wire insulation by heating the section desired to remove and then pinching and sliding the insulation to one side. Beats a razor blade!

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars McTag says:

There's got to be an easier way to remember kids are in the back of the van. Shock collar on the driver with seat pressure switches in back?

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Alan Earnest says:

    Flux is your friend

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars LS1LE says:

    Thank you for the videos!!

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars LS1LE says:

That’s the democrat way! They regulate the life out of everything.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Milly Amp says:

FAIL! The switch was to be installed on the rear door, not the side door. It is easily pressed from the driver seat with a rod or yardstick. The whole purpose was to require the driver to dismount from the driver seat and walk to the rear of the vehicle to disable the alarm and check for passengers.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars WRG says:

Pick up a set of 3 step bits next time you're in HF. $14 and they go from 3/16 to 3/4"

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Don's Junkmail says:

I have these garbage trucks its a "Packer"(really kinda of a clean job) Im getting you to install that for who or what I haul around…wear shorts…it s a casual job…we have 100,000 for you to do.Thanks Ray.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars midnightelectric1 says:

Very nice install. Done a LOT of aftermarket GPS, camera, coms, emergency lighting etc. Minimal invasive damage to factory harness was always my goal, and you did that wonderfully. The only tip I would pass on is to use liquid tape when not cutting the wire like on the horn circuit. It's a little pricey but one can lasts almost forever if, you store it upside down so it doesn't dry out.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kasual Skeptik says:

Cut a small piece of solder and wrap it around the splice, then apply heat to the whole thing…. Then you don't need a third hand.. 😉

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Av8tore71 says:

Some people just get too complacent not to look in the backseat to see if children are back there and they leave them in a hot sun…….its crazy!!

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joseph Steffen says:

    Uh oh, the dreaded Bcm!

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Edward Carberry says:

Yes they are Dumbing Down Society buy design!!!!!!!! I disliked all the ?? junk which they have been adding to vehicles, glad someone else ranting upon it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GIVE THEM ALL STANDARDS AND THE MASSES WON'T DRIVE.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars spelunkerd says:

I really like this 'add a fuse' method, since it creates a main power connection that is easy to recognize and delete later when the van is resold and taken out of service. The other peeve I have about aftermarket parts is the fact that installers don't staple a schematic diagram of what they did to the owner's manual, giving any future tech a fair chance of fixing or removing it later.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Whiskey_Throttle_Racing says:

those things do not get added without reason….people already suck at driving and remembering things. they don't make you worse at anything, they solve the problem that people already suck. the auto safety industry is not proactive….they are reactive.

"seatbelts are terrible. they taught us we can hit stuff and not worry about going through the windshield." your logic is flawed.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scott Satterthwaite says:

And the driver start carrying a pool cue.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ben Dover says:

Don't know if this is overkill, but whenever I solder and heat shrink a few wires, I then place a larger heat shrink over ALL the soldered joints that have been heat shrinked, just for extra protection …

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ISFiYIywAFIBc6qAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIQrXTJiCtY3Asd4WF says:

I really think you should be crimping NOT soldering in automotive situations. It will be more reliable and last longer.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars xshanghu says:

Highly intelligent person does the bidding of idiots.

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars xshanghu says:

I could have become a mechanic. But, I didn’t realize the need for levers and impact wrench.

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars xshanghu says:

You work hard for the money.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mikey says:

Thank you world for allowing us to still get base model work trucks

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mikey says:

Nobody knew where cars suck because they do way more than just move people from place to place like they're supposed to That was the whole point of the car just to transport human beings from one location to another and then they started doing a lot more and that's when they started being less reliable and pick up trucks you know yeah they do more than just move people but their victims of modern times too

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jamessmack says:

The kill switch can be reached from the drivers seat. Fairly easy I may add

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mohygen says:

The dumbing down of America continues….

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Norm Taylor says:

Ray,invest in some flux,it makes soldering so much easier.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rob Schulte says:

I worked for an industry that installs these in all of their vehicles. I do not sell these. But IMO, these are great products that serve an important purpose. A sleeping child will reach dangerous levels of cold or hot very quickly.

Their existence isn't a sign of a brain dead society either. Small children are capable of anything that will make them unseen accidentally and even on-purpose. Even the most responsible driver or employee has the potential to drop the ball on occasion when the nature of the job is the same day after day. This device is for that occasion when the sun and moon align. Parents should feel better when these are installed in fleet transporters.

Edit: These are so essential that these systems are built directly into the ECU of every school bus produced in North America.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ian Grice says:

WTF? Who thought this unless bit of kit was needed in the first place and who decided it was a good idea to buy it and get it installed.

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars KoolBreeze420 says:

This makes me think that whoeve is having it installed has someone close to them who left kids in the car probably because of a cell phone or some other distracting situation. lol

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Speeddemon3 says:

OMG THANK YOU RAY! I've said that to a lot of customers. We're engineering stupidity right into us. When my son was learning to drive the screen was blocked off so he had to learn to back up using mirrors. Taught him to trust mirrors changing lanes and never rely on the vehicles "false senses". And always assume everyone around you has had a drink!

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Yak Who ? says:

Wow ! The Nanny States of America….

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars DUANE says:

You seem to think that the dumbing down of America has been completed… lol.

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gerry Carmichael says:

    What the actual fuck?

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Esstech says:

Great soldering tip, looping the wires.

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars alfed tron says:

    stopped device

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sam A says:

Saying how dumb this device is, wastes electricity, imagine how much dumber whatever multiple situations had to happen before this to require someone make then sell such a device
