I had the same code on my 4runner, I changed the gas cap… problem gone. No more check engine light. Always check the gas cap first and save $$$$

Gas cap..sounds stupid but I've addressed this issue twice where the gas cap was the culprit

Can’t tell you how many times Iv had comebacks from limp wrists not screwing on the gas cap. One granny wasn’t very happy when she decided she better get bar involved and the rep basically repeated what myself and the shop owner had told her. Wanted a refund on the parts we installed previously for the same issue but the guy at the parts store said would fix the problem- I told her the gas cap simply needed to be tightened every fill up until it clicks, but she and the parts guy knew better and she insisted we install the unneeded parts.

You got a top dollar meter to replace your old one!
Aftermarket gas caps can cause this fault and allow gas fumes to enter the passenger compartment.
A bad O Ring at the top of the fuel tank can do this too, only under vacuum though.
Check ftp sensor pressure. Make sure it's sweeping. Add smoke to make it happen. FTP sensor breaking off on the top is famous. And hard to see. Sometimes if you smoke the tank you can catch it with a mirror on the fuel rail.

I bought a 2001 S10 cheap , the money light always came ,it was the o ring on the gas cap dry rotted , bought a new cap cleaned around steal tube with scotch brite added Teflon grease .been good for 4 years .
Dude! The EVAP system is open till you block or close it. You need EVAP classes.

If the customer refuels the vehicle while the engine is running, this fault code can present itself.
I'll bet he is fueling this vehicle with the engine running.
I was going to ask if this issue could simply be the customer failing to seal the fuel cap xD

And I never found it my dad still drives it
Had the same code problem in my jeep was driving me nut's then I finally realized I had a rag under my hood that I had tucked over by the fender for wiping and checking the oil and it was interfering with one of the breathers removed rag and put it in a better place bingo problem solved cleared the code and have never seen it since…
Great video- I've just encountered the same issue- totally different car though. The gas attendant did not turn the cap on properly, so the seal could not do it's job.
