Yeah i would not even entertain the idea of looking at it again, its basically them saying you did something wrong, you have video proof that thing is cooked, they are looking for a different answer that cost less, it aint going to happen.

I feel for you. I also work fixing things (electronics, mostly radio-communication gear) and sometimes people want you to fix their trash for free, knowing it was trash when they took in to the shop. Then, trying to fix it, you get into bigger trouble. And the hole seems to expand without end, wanting to swallow you…. Those are toxic customers and the best thing is to plainly avoid them. But, you know, sometimes is just not possible

Changing that coil is like putting a band aid on a heart attack. That customer just needs to admit that her jeep is toast and that if she continues to drive it she wont be driving it long. She'll be walking very soon.
It's going to continue running worse until it doesn't run at all.
Don't beat yourself down Ray, it's possible the customer simply doesn't have the money right now for a remedy and needs her car to run until she can afford a solution.
I've been there, it's a horrible place to be. I've had several house hold things all go at the same time and cost a month's wages, then there my cars suspension the struts were spraying oil. I needed that to last a month before I could fix that!

Wow. What a waste of money. Does the woman believe she can now operate her car since part of the problem is "fixed"? For a few days, maybe! Until all the oil is depleted and the engine seizes. If I was the service writer I would have rejected the vehicle and gave them the original diagnostic and the decline they gave. We would not be driving that.

I guess you could have taken the coil from cylinder 5 and swapped it with cylinder 1. I mean, #5 is dead anyway, so a bad coil won't make any difference – but it might get #1 to contribute again without buying a new coil.
