In this video I have a look at a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze RS that came on with a customer complaint that his fans are coming on to much. I thought that was kind of odd, so I thought maybe the fan was just louder and he was just hearing them. Let's see what we find. -Enjoy

Where are you located? My Chevy dealer just replaced my 2011 Malibu cooling fan (broken plastic housing noise supposedly) clacking growl stopped but theirs still loud humming and comes on with a cool engine. I'm in NY; Where are you located? You know your stuff. Thanks

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars chinn zurker says:

    Same with my 2012 cruze

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shane Baker says:

Christmas time 2021 I had this problem and they said it was a sensor problem so they "repaired" it and five months later (six days from moving to Florida from TN) we're back again.

I'm surprised when we are first born we don't have tattoos on our forehead that say: "Made in China"!

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jasmine williams says:

This is exactly what my Chevy Cruze is doing. How much does this go for to get fixed?

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Carvlog says:

I wonder if GM manufacturing Plane engine how many times we would have a catastrophic events..All Chevy have same issue Fan blowing full speed never turns off or never turn on

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kam Jar says:

At what temperature does the first fan speed switch on? In my case, the fan starts to work at 93 C immediately in the second gear.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars db d says:

Great video and yes I do remember the Chevy LUV (L ight U tility V ehicle) pick up.They were an ISUZU pickup sold through chevy from I believe 1972 to 1980 some thing.

Hello, maybe you can help us, 30 cars, we have this problem. The thermostat does not open and the fan works. When we change the thermostat, it works properly from morning to evening and in the evening it does not open the thermostat again and the fan works non-stop.What to do? What part will be replaced, on the other hand the car is working in every way. Please help us maybe.all chevrolet is 2011-2014 1.4 turbo

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Carvlog says:

Well this is a great video , my Chevy fan comes on in full speed once the key is in on position before even cracking the engine, it is on all the time and when I switch off the engine it will stay on for at least 30-to 60 seconds , swapped relays all good, from yesterday it won't come one but when AC is on it kicks on for about 30 seconds and off for another 30-40 seconds it kicks on again ,it is never on constantly, Temp in the car is OK not overheating not losing coolant ,checked with the scanner temp is ok mostly it gets to 89C which is 160.2 degree Fahrenheit, so without this scanner how can I use the bulb test? thanks

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Darren Mackey says:

fan only working when ac on

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dylan Dubs says:

Chevy cruze. Hands down the one car ive singlehandedly done more water pumps, tstats, and water outlet valves on for people in one year than any other vehicle ive done in the last 5 years hahaha. They keep me in business thats for sure

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Buy Your Own Damn Flowers says:

This is the exact problem I’m having!!!! Overworked radiator fan

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dawn Reynolds says:

I heard mine kick on randomly for months. Then it would stay on for 10 minutes after just driving a mile. My husband of course said I was delusional and if it WAS happening, it was suppose to. The mechanic wasn't sure bc the scanner did't catch it, but they finally heard it… turns out, it was about to go out completely and my car would have started over heating. 🙄

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Donnybrook says:

I have the same problem with my Cruze. Only the high speed fan turns on once the engine is wicked hot.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars IslandDroneVision says:

you need collent check that first

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jarrick Lewis says:

my 2014 cruze doing exact samething

    Another great video

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kenneth Hutcheson says:

Good video but would be nice to have a quick link to the fix instead of having to watch the entire video for stuff most people won't understand or have the tools to access the info in the video

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pat Caron says:

I am scared that my problem is the thermostat that dosen't send the signal to the new fan. I only ear it when engine is cold at the start. And i know it should start when waiting at a drive thru

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Susan Davidson says:

Yes, yes, thats what I keep hearing, what's wrong?

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Marissa says:

I’m having the same issue with my 2016 Cruze. The fan comes on approximately every 10 seconds, and stays on for about 8-9 seconds when my car is just sitting, idling. My step dad told me it could be low on coolant so I just went to have my oil changed and had them add coolant but it didn’t fix it. A mechanic said I need a radiator flush. I bought the car december 2019 and just noticed it maybe 6 months ago or more.
If I take this in to my dealer (I purchased an extended warranty through them), would they be able to fix it? Or should I just take it to any mechanic?

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Timothy Wright says:

there is a heat sensor built right into the fan assembly and if that is gone bad the fan will come on too much or all the time

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars George Bell says:

Can’t trust what the customer says, can’t trust the wiring diagram, can’t trust the scan tool. It sure makes your job interesting

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars conor m says:

For me it was an almost dead battery making the cooling fan go wild when I start up… replaced the battery and it fixed it

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ren Stokes says:

I learned to drive on a Chevy Luv!

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Caroline says:

My Chevy Cruze is doing the same thing, the temp gauge doesn’t move it is always all the way left on cool but my fan is running. Changed the sensors and that hasn’t helped. I guess it’s the fan, thank you!

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Andre Dobbs says:

    This was really informative

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Laurie Piché says:

Right now my 2012 Chevrolet Cruze's engine fan is blowing like crazy even tho I'm parked and the AC is not on! It even says AC stopped because high motor temp. but the motor is not even hot!

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars NORI aqua says:

In most cases, the fuse to the radiator fan fails due to inconsistent triggering of the coolant temperature sensor at the thermostat housing. If it's not the fuse, it's the resistor on the radiator fan itself that fails. This car is built to fail, and they continue to carry on these "features" to the newer models, which evidently carries the same problems year in, year out. Good for your business though. 🙂

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Daniel Smith says:

Thank u. I got same thing goin on right now. Gonna order my fan right now. Thank u for ur knowledge

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Maile McDevitt says:

Chevy luv single cab rusty color I remember

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Wayne Habat says:

I had a fan issue on one of these a few years ago (I'm a dealer tech) and I did the EXACT same thing you did when I saw the schematic. Went right for the fan and checked for power. Had it on all speeds and sure enough the fan was bad. Cheers

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robbie King says:

What is the info on this tester you are working with?

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars K'Dash says:

They need to start putting those RPO codes somewhere easier to access. Tired of having to unload 200 pounds of chit from the trunk. What's so wrong with putting it on the end caps of dash boards?

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shane Harrison says:

    Yeah I know that's cool

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Daniel Matheny says:

The cruze was easily one of the worst cars that GM produced in the last 10, if not 20 years

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Salvador Perez says:

What is the relay power on termostat

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scout's Outdoor Services SOS says:

So my thermostat failed and I replaced it. Ever since then the fan come on a lot and it is very loud. Can it be that the new thermostat is not working like it should? Didn’t have any fan issues until the thermostat/housing failed. Thanks

    Just buy a new 1 K.I.S.S.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TeraVolt says:

The worst thing is that a cooling fan assembly can misbehave even without apparent noise or vibration issues. The one on my car still managed to keep the engine cool, but failed to keep the AC condenser in front of the radiator cool, making the AC weak in hot sunny days and the AC compressor noisy. It turned out the radiator fan motor had seriously worn bearings and didn't spin fast enough. As i said before no strange noises, only less air flowing around the engine bay with the hood open. New fan+motor+shroud assembly in place and all AC issues are now gone. This is on a 73k miles 18 year old city car.

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Devon Canfield says:

I just did this on my 2011 Cruze, I had to pull apart the entire front section of the car for my coolant and refrigerant class at school. Was miserable to pull that fan out

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeremiah says:

Hey my car does this also, how do I fix this and how much will it cost me?
