that plastic retainer clip looks like the gear shift lever bushing for the 4-speed shifter lever that kept breaking on our 79 plymouth horizon then stuck in whatever gear trans was in.

Thanks for your help man I didn't realize that these linkages pieces of crap

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pete Garcia says:

You can buy the "Wiper linkage bushings" at advanced auto if you don't want to buy the entire assembly. Made by "Dorman".

Replaced everything and could see it rotating fine. Once I put it all back together the wipers don’t move but you can hear the motor… what’s wrong ?

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Daniela Delacruz says:

As a woman thank you for this video, because my husband thought it was "just a fuse" when I took everything apart myself and seen that this was the issue🙂

if it was my car ida used the ducttape 3000 lol. i dunno how much that new thing cost but it makes little sense, to me, to buy an entire piece when you can use so many methods to attach it. but i undwerstand why he didnt, he runs a good shop

Plastic retainers…👎…. I had a 2010 Jeep wrangler. I read on a forum that the “Plastic Retainers” holding the shifting linkages together were prone to fail. I went and bought some and kept them in the console. Sure enough, on a mountain shelf road in nowhere Az trying to turn around one broke and fell out. Jeep was in reverse and shifter unhooked. Knew immediately what had happened. Then, a few days later in Moab Ut one broke and fell out on the transfer case shifter.. Sure was glad I had some of those Fantastic Plastic parts on hand…

I cannot get the wiper arms off after taking off the nut. I've tried prying them. I've pulled on them for at least 30 min. I even got a hold of them using a pipe wrench. They will not even budge. Any ideas?

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chris Chery says:

Anybody out there please don't buy this kind of car, because everything costs a lot of money, it's like a BMW or another luxury cars.

Dorman part Number 49449 sold in Autozone.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Stevan Rose says:

I replaced the wiper motor on my 1981 Ford pu truck without removing the hood and I hope it doesn’t need to be replaced ever again. I would rather pull the V8.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Kopytek says:

Great Video, where did you purchase the wiper transmission? i am looking at an ebay listing for about $34 USD shipped with tax. Local junk yards want 30-50 dollars for a used set with motor. I figured to just buy a new transmission set since these cars have issues and do not want to be replacing the unit again because of the same problem. Do not bother with the plastic bushings they sell at autozone. They cracked and got damaged when trying to press them in. You will need 4 new bushings at 8 USD for just 2 bushings.

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Lawrence Klein says:

So basically, we've got to destroy the plastic fasteners and the plastic cowling to get to the wiper motor and linkages?
    Pretty crappy design.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard Renkl says:

Autozone has that bushing in the Help section, think it was a dorman

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shane Harrison says:

Doorman components to repair the retainers 13 bucks covers all of them lol I had to try to get the parts from nissan but no love and went to the zone and found the parts that come close to the originals but I did have to work some feats of imagineering marvel's and create a part for the in between works like it was made for it lol

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars dynasty4851 says:

Your the best man! Thank you so much for teaching people like me! My wipers work again and repair was sweet. The part did cost $100.00, but oh well.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars dynasty4851 says:

Man you saved me some time! I'm just gonna order the transmission part. Subscribed!

    Wow really help thanks bro!!!!!

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Auby Auburn says:

Excellent video! It took me 2 hours to do the repair, including a trip to O'Reilly's. Total cost was $15, for a box of 5 bushings, and two push locks-I broke the same one you did. Keep up the great work!

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kirkville Outdoors says:

What if you can freely move just one?? My drivers side just quit and we are in the middle of a NorEastern snow storm

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Viper says:

I figured the linkage was the problem right from the start. The 7th gen Malibu also suffers from this same problem. GM makes their wiper systems so darn cheap now. I remember you could move a few feet of snow off the windshield with the wipers, now you have a little snow on the wipers and it ends up breaking them. What happens is those rubber connectors just get worn and stretched and then they just pop off, and it's more prone to it with age which makes it even more susceptible to damage without even much of a load on it.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Andy Citarella says:

Great video. Good tip if you can move arms by hand, it's a linkage issue

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Vincent Bozzone says:

I thought you would refill the wiper reservoir given the season and all.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Vincent Bozzone says:

These cars should be designed for easier repair. The engineer needs to be paired with a repair technician to come up with the best design.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Vincent Bozzone says:

Looks like a washer flew off when you removed the driver's side arm.

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars richard brewsterrick says:

That part went on my son,s car I drilled a hole through the plastic cap into the shaft then put a washer and self taper screw in to hold every thing ; 4yrs still working !!!

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Matty Jay says:
