In a previous video Marie diagnosed a lean running Chevy Sonic and figured out it was a leaking valve cover (PCV System) In this video she replaces the leaking valve cover with a brand new one and sees the correction on the fuel trims to verify the fix. -Enjoy!

excellent video. nice job. was very helpful to me as this will be my first attempt at it. Don't know if it matters but Chevy site had a bolt sequence of tighten the 3 middle, followed by the back bolts, then the front bolts. but the pipe sealant is also mentioned by Chevy so great tip on your part.
Look forward to more videos.
Did if remove lean code
I learned alot today Thanks Marie.
Hopefully she or the gaskets back on that she took off lol
I like your comments about sonic vuc
Very helpful! Have what seems to be this same issue on a 2014 Sonic, and this really helps give me a target for fuel trim numbers and pcv repair. Thank you!
I really appreciate these two videos taught me some good tricks for diagnosing my issue I had the engine replaced a while back didn’t come with a valve cover so they just used the old valve cover and been throwing the code off and on and now I can finally be rid of that pesky code
LOL, me telling the guy at autozone that’s it’s probably my PCV valve bc I know it was failing, and he goes I’d just check your engine air filter something could be stuck in it….sir I just had my oil changed and that filter checked out. But that’s the same guy that told me I was referring to my cabin air filter…last I checked that’s in my glove box not by my engine but okay Mister lol. Us girls gotta stick together. 😂
It's the innocents that makes everything OK 🤙👍👌🙏
certainly illustrates the importance of men as mechanics… wow….
Lowly oil change? I think he meant to say NOISY oil change!
I love Marie's attitude, both to the work and ..you xD
She'll go far me thinks.
Great job you inspired me to go do it thanks
I’m having the same problem with my car. It’s reading the same short term and long term. I guess I know what it is now
That's a good woman. Not afraid of getting dirty and taking charge
Thanks, I need to this on my daughter's car. Great video!
We need MOAR of these!!!!
I think that part number she said was dom torretos phone number on the fast and the furious 1 lol.
shoulda gave her a speed wrench instead of a palm wratchet!
Great job,,.
I teach high school math. Eric is a great teacher. He gives just enough leeway to let his student enjoy success, or if they make a mistake, enough time to find it one their own! Impressive! Plus he's not afraid to give a compliment. Constantly asks questions, and gives feedback. Wow. I could use him in our department….
Thanks for doing this video, having my wife watch tonight. Like the notebook, and I am watching again to see how you use your phone as scan tool. Impressed. Agree great clean job.
Awesome job Miss.Marie well done and Erik O your a real sport for helping the young lady in her studies your too cool dude.
Hola me gusto cómo le enseñas ala comunidad y cómo diagnosticaron el Chevy me gustaría saber cómo conseguir la máquina de humo para detectar liqueos
Good job Marie Keep learning and keep doing just remember to do your best and make it look like factory that’s where it’s at good job CK
Whose bright idea was it to integrate a 50 cent part that fails into a humongous valve cover
girl I knew in high school became a top flight Chrysler mechanic. If I can do it they can do it
I want to give a big personal shout out to this lovely young lady. Following the same logic applied in diagnosing and correcting this machine, I was able to correctly diagnose and fix it. Total cost could have been only $125 for the new valve cover…but listening to some of my local guys that diagnose and correct things for a living, cost another $600. All kinds of good fun. The 2014 Sonic LT with the big 1.8 liter motor is running solid now. Idle restored, money light off. Pretty happy. The bit she was using was an E10 Torx bit.
Good Job Young Lady!😀
Love seeing this generation! My daughter asked me to help her with her first service. Didn’t want to take it to a dealer. She wanted to learn how to do it herself!
Isn't that a palm RATCHET she's using? If so, why is she changing her hand position every little twist?
Glad to see a future tech not wearing mittens(aka rubber gloves) dirty hands=clean money
Well done young lady 👍
Marie you are awesome…your video is perfect gonna order everything I need and fix it my self from one woman to the next..if you can do it…I can do it!….Thanks Marie❤
Great job Marie… show Eric how it’s done.
The pipe sealant confused me a bit so I decided to do a little digging and it turns out the Chevrolet Sonic repair manual indeed says “Apply pipe sealant to the center bolt during reinstallation.” The manual is not, however, referring to the bolt in the center of the valve cover. The bolts are identified as two different types. The three shorter bolts which are closest to the pulleys are type (1). The rest of the bolts which are longer are type (2). The instructions for the pipe sealant application are in reference to the type (1) bolts so the center bolt of the three closest to the pulleys is the one that gets the sealant, not the bolt in the center of the whole valve cover. Just a helpful tip for any DIY-ers watching this otherwise very informative video.
Well done.
Hey Mr E-Roc O if ya put a hat and beard on Ms Marie she would be a young version of you. Lol
Great job and explanation
Well Eric you are raising your daughter the right way. She will become very capable very quickly. The note book proves she is willing to learn and do things right.
Pipe sealer?
Lmao kinda satisfying hahaha
She can make the brake clean noise!
………….. gooood-job little lady………. awesome…………
Show Marie a better way to hold the ratchet and torque wrenches, I.e. one hand on the head of the ratchet instead of on the socket. That will keep the socket straight on the bolt.
Nice job Marie!
mechanics don't walk that much… and they don't usually wear smart watches or bracelets 'cause they know they will not last very long.
P.S. Good work, Marie!
My kinda girl . Nice see girl who like to get invalved and get her hands dirty … a girl I'd deff go on date with lol
