Now they just need lights above the windshield and some nekkid lady mudflaps……maybe a big set of speakers in the bed and a big amp……Great way you dealt with Trinity's problem…smiles cure it all.

You bash Chevy so much, my uncle has the same truck same year over 100,000 miles and had zero issues with the thing. It hasn't even rusted either, Toyota fanboys.๐Ÿ™„

A fuse holder on the ground side is a first for me. I have always preferred the fuse to be as close to the positive source as possible, but i guess since you are tapping into an already fused circuit, it really shouldnt matter. that would of made it easier if they did like my avalanche. they use 2 different tail light bulbs. one that is a taillight/brake light. and one below it that is a taillight/ turn signal. but hooking your turn signal wires to the dome light would be an option. that way they would light up the running board when you step out also.

Liquid tape works well. My only complaint about it is even with the lid on tight over time it will get hard in the can.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Stevan Rose says:

Get self tappers. They help a bunch.

Super 33 is the industry standard as a UV protection layer over butyl tape in the Telecommunications industry all over the world.

There are a lot of shops that would turn him away at the door. I'm glad you didn't and like you said, it keeps the doors open and the lights on. So, whatever pays the bills. Good job, happy customer.

Why does the Chevy owner install all those lights?
So he can fix his car when it breaks down in the night

Useless .wmft! Sell them a winch. Very useful

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Famus Man says:

I would simply just use them with a toggle switch . That way they're on when I want and off when I don't. They don't need to blink

Added visibility for heavy fog and snow so other people don't crash into you is something big rig truckers have known for a long time. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steve B says:

At least in another couple of years it will be a pile of rust. But the lights will work.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tom Oakhill says:

Eric is super busy. Trinity shows up, crying. Eric goes into full FATHER mode. Trinity should, and did, ask Vanessa. So Eric does not scold Trinity for interrupting him, but instead uses his gently soft father voice, and kindly tells her there is CHOCOLATE milk in the fridge. God I LOVE these tiny family vignettes Eric drops into these videos.

You're a good daddy. Too many parents wouldn't have put down their phones for their child. You stopped working.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hola! John Rodrigues says:

Probably when you were a youngster and I was a dad, turn signals ran off the flasher under the dash. And you're thinking each turn signal ran its own water back from those days. Why they need a body module to run the brake lights and turn signal is beyond me. But then again back in the day have few Wonder hanger trailer off the ass of your truck or car you had to get a heavy duty flasher! If you didn't the thing blinks so fast you couldn't tell what it was doing! So now you have an excuse and it's valid!

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hola! John Rodrigues says:

I know you hate aftermarket, but I think you hate the way people install the aftermarket more than you actually hate the aftermarket hardware. When I've heard you complain it's because of the jumble of spaghetti people shove up in spaces and the amature connections. As for why you are doing it, it's a paying job. And you're really not busting your gut doing it. I mean after all you could be pulling the spark plugs out of a Triton V8 otherwise! I think I'd rather do this. This guy I'll get a clean install. And I'll bet he's there giving you this job to do because he knows it'll be done right. I'm really curious as to why there's no rubber spacer between the tube and the brackets. That is really cheesy. The body mount doesn't impress me either. The bodies on vehicles today just aren't strong enough for that kind of installation in my point of view. If he actually takes his truck off road and he hit something with those running boards yeah, something's going to be get left on the ground!

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Diana Goodrich says:

    Hi!

If other shops are hungry for work, they would do well to pay attention to the problems you find and problems you avoid. And do well then themselves.

3M 130C is for under water connections. That shit is water proof…

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars J Pol says:

Eric. Get a roll of electricians Friction Tape and a can of liquid electrical tape. Wrap your loom connections..Y's and slices with a couple wraps of the friction tape then give that a swipe or two of the liquid and you will be amazed at the look and rigidity of the splice when it's done. Try it. You might like it. That's my method. Take care. Jpol.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars michael shampine says:

disappointing! the bars have a good use and even original step bars mount similarly! the lights what a PIECE OF JUNK. screws and drilling holes into the body! for what plastic junk. add to that you putting this junk on and not making them fully functional! But I do understand paying the Bill's! did it myself! the thing that ALWAYS WORRIED ME WAS! Cheap junk causing a fire a short or a accident.

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars chefrarestones1960 says:

Your my favorite auto repair channel & this is why I have to be honest & say I'm really disappointed that you didn't make the lights work as designed with turn signals. Thought for sure you would find the best way to make it work.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TreyInOK says:

how much horse power do those lights add?

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeff Jankiewicz says:

Aftermarket garbage job done. Pays the bills. Now it`s ice cream time!! Well done Eric O.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars robin banks says:

I'm pretty sure those are the lights that neutralize the salt that causes metal to rust.

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Garth Clark says:

That's one way to "Get Lit". Good idea not following the instructions and using those Scotch blocks. They are the most invasive connection on earth. Great install. Not all "aftermarket" is junk. One, it depends if its an accessory or an alternative OEM replacement and two, it depends on the aftermarket company. There are companies such as Warn Industries, Smitty Built, Rancho, Bilstein, KC, Rigid etc. who actually do some wonderful engineering when designing their products to adapt with vehicles. Of course, they aren't inexpensive which brings us to those other aftermarket companies who for less will hold the flag for junk.

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ally Oop says:

    Harbor Freight drill bits?

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hola! Chuckwagon 524 says:

Since Chevy's turn on rear backup lights when you unlock doors, could you wire a jumper to + backup light also circuit so they turn on when entering and exiting vehicle?

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jim Jackson says:

Eric, I love the way you interact with Trinity. That's what family and being a good father is all about. And it makes the world a better place for all of us. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kenneth Vandergrift says:

You are a fantastic mechanic with moral integrity and ethics. People are indeed lucky to have you working in your area. Wish there were more like you!!!!!!

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Patrick Madigan says:

I would have connected the RED wire to the running lights being the dim part of the light system. So that way at least at night you would have a lighted bar. And that would have been better than nothing at all or just being lite by brakes and turn signal. So then you would have running and brake and turn signals. Some people run their lights in the day time anyway. =)

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 8K10F1E says:

Those cardboard strips would last longer than those chinese pot metal running boards

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeff Brown says:

Run a 2 Pair trailer lead to the center and tap off that.
