I don't think this engine had coolant, seems like water, that's why so much sludge and rust.
jesus mary mother of christ thats dirty
Àdd a comment…
In France, such a mixture of oil and coolant is nicknamed "mayonnaise" ! Anyway , it's a huge lot of work to basically change a gasket ! That remember me of the US computers that I repaired in the 1970s : each part seemed to have been designed by a separate team and no brain to oversee the result and say :" design that part a little differently and the maintenance would be faster".
Exactly what happened on Apollo 13 when they discover that air filters had different shapes in the different modules of the same vehicle. Your patience and your work are admirable.
Ray, I feel your pain on some of these repairs. Dex was such a horrible product and ended up costing G.M. and customers a fortune. Recalls, G.M. extending warranty coverages, very public T.S.B.'s, and the poor people that didn't qualify had to pay out of pocket. Can almost tell a lot of the time how much you are unhappy with certain repairs because no doodeedoo when the phone rings and yet you maintain a level of poise, composure, and professionalism that is awesome. Thumbs high!!!👍
You or your shop should purchase a Glass Bead Blaster. It does not remove metal but, does remove rust, corrosion, baked on paint. It does clean out ports.. I have one and I use it frequently.
Its great to see these episodes. I have learned a lot from your video. Thanks 😊
I had to Google images of that lower intake manifold to make sure some of the corrupted files weren’t of Ray using an air hammer to utilize the rarely used “just right attachment” or specially made on the spot item to pound out the square shaped clogs he seemed to miss that offered “no flow.”
Might have been easier just to swap the motor out
Did you ever clean out those rear ports on the lower intake?
And maybe use a shop vac to suck out the debris from everything. Especially the ports at the back of the engine. Who knows what's still in there with the fluid.
This is the Main Reason to Use Distilled Water to your Antifreeze Solution, Zero Metal Minerals in Distilled Water–No Sludge Build Up if you always use this Method…
Looks like a standard Dexcool system restore. WHY after all this would you put that crap back for coolant?
I have to charge you for the like button for just 20buck lol
Never seen the spider fuel injection ontill this video.
Kind of makes me glad I gave up the idea of changing my 2001 Sonoma (GMC S10) 2.2 4cyl with the 4.3 V6.
Hope my '01 Dodge 5.9 waterpump replacement won't be this complicated
I'm surprised you didn't put another clear glass in front our go pro to simulate smearing it in our faces…dats skank
That's up there with people who NEVER changed their oil…
Eric O has a video of him doing a Grand Prix and the coolant looked just like that that brownish/orange cakey material
Why are the ends the only gunky areas
I had to turn this off part way through.Could not believe you did this with the intake ports unprotected 😱. Takes seconds to do. Sorry Ray thats just unforgivable. Im an industrial mechanic so i feel more than justified at criticising your method. You normally do great work but in this case…………….🧐
Very thorough job. Another fine production WITHOUT CHILDISH NOISES. Excellent.

It looks like someone was using Ga well water to fill the system
I always called that anit-freeze "death cool". It's horrible, it destroys just about anything it touches. Ray, you should be wearing a Tyvec suit….it might destroy you….lol. Love your videos, keep it up.
What the frig would cause that blockage?!?
Rather poor hygiene. One does not clean their kitchen with a leaf blower.
Imagine if a surgeon used a blower instead of suction?
You should use a shop vac to clean out that gunk.
Why is the intake holes blocked off won’t this happen again down the road
How do you get so much mud in the cooling system?
on my Alooooooomin-Numb V6 VS Holdén Commodé L36 I stukk a hosé into the Cylindér hedd to flush the coolunt Passage-Whey out 😲😲😨😨
It's amazing the depth of work that is involved taking something apart and then remembering how it all goes bake together I'm surprised the motor did not blow and even the heads you would think the customer would have learned there lesson the first time but perhaps there elderly just assuming on my part.
You needed a fork and spoon to dig the sludge out of this engine! 6.6K thumbs up!
With them two rear ports being blocked the way they are I would have walked away from that job.
You missed you’re chance to title this “Jimmy gets a colonoscopy”
That engine really needed a serious dose of ExLax. Oh man, was that a mess.
Wonder that engine didn't blow up
A dental-type suction device may work.
What's it been filled with, river water ?
Wow you really enjoy using the silicone, thats a bit too much silicone imho.
Wow… you try to justify not pre-filling oil filters due to 'contamination'… yet you abrasive wheel the hell out of an open engine.. FloridaMan goes one step above J*ffy Lube.. unbelieveable
Always 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Whats the worst thing your finger has been in? Id imagine this (insert term your imagination has conjured) has to be within the top 10%.
Isnt there some chemical to flush the cooling system ?
How do you remember where all those wires go ? Oh, wait – you have a video !
And this is why you don't use stop leak
OMG! I said on the 1st video, "I'd just use Prestone Cooling System Flush and send it." Now I see the UGLY, THICK, NASTY SLUDGE! How deep does that crap go?
i have swapped the dexcool out of every gm i ever had even if they ere brand new
i hope you put good old prestone green in it when you finished up
You forgot to put the link to this part in part 1
I'm ready for part three.
