The original condenser had foam strips on both sides that you scraped off the old unit. These strips were perhaps there to buffer the condenser. You did not appear to put new foam on the new condenser. Could the now "no foam buffer" cause the new condenser to fail early?

I've been a big fan of your channel and enjoy watching you do repairs you are a stand up guy and know your limits specially the time when you had that ford pick up in your shop knowing that it was a total rust bucket and let the owner know that the repairs were not going to happen because of the chassis rusting out

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Raymond Rothstein says:

You should talk your boss into buying a nitrogen purge setup, just flush and pressure test with nitrogen, then blow it off, recovery time will be 1/2 the time due to there being no moisture in the system.
On a side note, put the dye in before vacuum, just swaping the hoses introduces non-condensables, which will ruin the oil, cause acid and have your pressures go all over the place.

I'm a technician. Not in the automotive field however, my employer does not want me to use my own tools for liability reasons. How does the automotive industry put that on you? I work for the company and not for myself. Are you like a contractor to the shop you work in?

Ray; You are famous in Finland.
Finland's Slot Machine Association or RAY (Finnish: Raha-automaattiyhdistys) was a government-supervised and -owned nonprofit gaming (gambling) association (statutory corporation) in Finland. On January 1, 2017, RAY merged with the government-supervised and -owned nonprofit betting agency Veikkaus and Fintoto [fi]. The new company that was founded as a result is also called "Veikkaus". RAY was a gambling monopoly whose proceedings went to domestic charity such as pensioner care and gambling addiction treatment. While RAY was best known for its slot machines, the company also dealt in online gambling and controlled the only official casino in Finland, Casino Helsinki.[1]

Everyone has their own ways of diagnosing certain things so don't shoot Ray for how "HE" goes about doing it, and negativity can bring down a lot of other people besides Ray food for thought. You can follow the diag tree or if you have diagnosed one particular issue or problem many times already then you know where to start from, I don't even like the negative John or Jane doe's myself, since if the negative person can diagnose better themselves then take Ray's position, not all diagnosing is simple and straightforward, there can be a misfire that kicks your ass at times you suspect right off the bat it's a plug or coil or distributor so you go ahead fire the parts cannon just to end up with the misfire still🤣🤣, it happened to an accord that I bought used from someone, low and behold took the timing Belt cover off and guess what, some shady probably do it yourselfer never put the bolt back to hold the belt tensioner in place so I had pistons hitting valves.

As you make a huge tool purchase I wonder if your wife reacts the way mine does when I do. She lightheartedly makes jabs at me , but I can tell that she hates it lol. But I buy tools that make my job easier, I’m sure you do the same

Its ezer to get to pulling the bumper cover, a lot faster.

Don't waste your money on aftermarket condensers they are junk.
Body shop put in an aftermarket condensers it never got as cold, and leaked after a year, I spent my own money and got a factory part changed it myself 17 years ago had the system valued down and filled never had a problem with it sence that time.
The factory unit wasn't cheap it was about 400 dollars, the aftermarket had to be filled 3 times it cost 130 new
Each service cost 150 by the time it was done I had 1200 into fixing the ac becuse the condensers got bent in a wreak the other guys insurance refused to pay for and it was his fault.

3k to 4k, and its a dam nice scanner.
Don't loan it out. Ive had more tools disappear or come back broken that way or even not reture home to nest.
If they want to do the job let them spend the coin on the good tools.

My uncle told us 58 years ago you can tell a good mechanic and shop, everything has a place and everything's in its place and the shop clean.
Now I get the fact you work on cars oil spills ex but for the most part your not tripping on old tires.

Nice video! Let me ask you a question: is the dye reactive to UV light? Couldn´t We use an UV LED or light to discover leakages more easy? Thanks for the video, again!

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bobeaseshop says:

You are very detailed and I did learn a few things. The only thing I'd add is that most times when I help my friends with A/C work is I like to install a cabin filter or if I'm on something older I clean the evaporator core but as we know that can be a big messy job. If you have good air flow it may not be necessary but it usually helps and at least smells better. I watch one of your videos every few days. Always good clean work and honest work as well. Thank You Bobby
