That was probably an expensive fix if you have to bill per hour.

My wife’s 2008 Saturn Outlook has a similar issue, the speaker harnesses have an odd set up and water runs down them into the contacts. All four door speakers are shorted out. I don’t know how to stop it, so we’re not fixing the shorted out system. Most of the time this is a back up vehicle anyway. One of the reasons why the division folded, I’m sure. Funny thing is we had two older Saturns (1992 and 1994) that were unstoppable. Neither one had any major issues. I think when they fully sealed the deal with GM, they got left out funding wise. The Outlook and GMC Acadia were made in the same factory and many times Saturn would receive GMC tailgates on their Outlooks. Of course they went back, but does that mean they did the same thing with GMCs? I don’t think QC is what it once was.

before my wife hit a dear with it, our 2008 model f-250 had the same problem. only those didn't come with a predrilled hole to drain it so i had to put one in it myself. both rear doors were like this. but not the front.

Well done, Ray. That was my first thought too. Not a mechanic, but I am the one people come to. Helped a woman at work. Water was collecting in the driver's side door and was overflowing into the step well of her Chevy Van dating back to the early 70s. I used a twig to open the drains on all 5 door. I think the van lost about 25 pounds of weight.

Here is one for you. I started out in the used car department of a Ford dealership and when I was promoted to the main shop, I was the NVH guy. The guy who was training me shared one of his rattle experiences with me. Customer stated that he began hearing a rattle sometime after he took delivery of the car. After a lot of pain and suffering on his part and the customer’s, he narrowed the location down to a segment of the frame rail. Cut the rail open and found a half sandwich wrapped in seran wrap in there. A factory worker had put it there then welded the frame closed. Then over time it dried out, got hard and rattled.

Known Ford issue because engineers suck, try living in the northeast and having that freeze so you can’t use the door.

This was just holding some extra water in case you get thirsty. The back of the truck is intended as a huge compartment for snacks.

Our 2013 Ford Edge's doors had the same thing. Wife said she can here water sloshing. Opended the door and see that the drain holes were plugged up. Keep those clear or your doors will rot from the inside.

Had a Mada MPV had a valve in bottom of door that would drain the water out. Was always getting clogged up. Would have to stick an opened paper clip in it to clean out the dirt and debris that would clog it.

I was a bit surprised you didn't have to remove the sub frame and one of the left rear wheel nuts to access that plug.

This first time I ever saw this, about a week later we had a cat 1 hurricane come through here but it had a shitload of rain. The next day I get in my F150 and what do I hear? Water sloshing around. I knew exactly what to do. Not was the driver side rear door.

Hello Rainman, London England here. I’m totally transfixed by your channel and don’t know exactly why. I must have watched about 20 episodes so far and appreciate your easy manner and light-hearted style along with your dedication to do the right thing. Every now and again there’s an insight into your family life with maybe a picture of you or your son which makes the viewer a bit more involved. Well done and best wishes for your continued success.

I find it odd that a grown man that drives an F-250 wouldn’t know to check the doors if he hears water sloshing around…🤨

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Lee says:

Youwzaa! I might think that rust proofing product by the owner and dirt filled that drain hole. It's always a good habit to maintain those ports along the doors and sun roofs. A clip I saw on YT, a buyer of an auction BMW had electrical problems. While trouble shooting it he discovered the wiring under the floorboard was covered in water. How it never shorted all together I'll never know. But the solution to the flooding was to clean out the drain ports of the sun roof.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars BlueNeuro says:

wait…how did the drain get clogged?

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars sandy7m says:

I recently had the same problem with my Dad's Golf. Ridiculouse amount of condensation inside the car.
Found two doors had about an inch of water in them.
Looks like someone put waxoil in the door cavities.
This was a trick from ye olde days to stop corriosion starting up in the door seam at the bottom fot he outer skin.
Problem is that back in those days, the drainage holes were a good bit bigger than what most modern car designs have now.
Normally you can unblock the holes with a small nylon tie-wrap.
I used an aquavack to get all the water and years of silt from the bottom of the doors.
Then had to jab around with a thick copper wire to make sure the water would drain out in future. Did this to all four doors.
Spent days getting waxoil out from under my nails. Forgot gloves

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars leaf16nut says:

Hilariously, I did the same thing in my 2016 F150, ford technicians knew the issue right away, I just keep the plugs out now and during the summer have to swing through doors a few times to get all the water out. Stupid design.

    Thats just door coolant

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Lucas Mills says:

Ford's engines and tranny's are ok, but they have a the same problem Chrysler has. Everything surrounding that engine and tranny is cheap junk that will fall apart on you just like this. More American automakers need to start copying Toyota's business model. Make the damn thing right the first time.

Drain port is plugged up. Just below that rubber thing is the actual port and it looks clogged with road debris. A small screwdriver and a few minutes opens it right up
