In this video I help a lady out who stores her truck over the winter. One of the issues is keeping the battery charged over that time. I install a "NOCO GENIUS2D, 2-Amp Direct-Mount Onboard Charger." This should solve the issue and prevent her from having to start it every month. -Enjoy!

How long does it take for almost empty 96Ah AGM battery to be completely charged? My Noco 2D has been connected for the past 3 days, and charger still has phasing red color. I am not sure if I should wait.

Beadle Wraps are a nice reusable almost zip tie like device.

Do I fully charge the Noco genius 2d before using it?

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steve Jordan says:

Desulfation process can take from  to complete. During this period the battery is also trickle charged to continue reducing the amount of lead sulfur in solution.

Nothing worse than a painful "Hooski" ……NAPA "Legend" batteries are Awesome!! Always had positive experiences with them.

My daughters issue. She drives her SUV every 3 or 4 weeks. Has no 110 power close by. Any ideas how to keep the battery up. I tried getting her to run it very week. NOT happening. So she has to keep boosting it. Has a newer battery installed. It’s just not running enough to keep the charge up.

I have a Stanley battery maintainer for my motorcycle battery during the winter works great 2 years now

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Darlene Elvidge says:

Mechanic on YouTube, Scotty Kilmer said always use a charger that charges your battery at a small amps like this one at 2amps. Better on your battery. Noco 1 or Noco 2 are the best ones to buy for your batteries.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sug's RL says:

Believe me they are NOT built to withstand the harshest of conditions, at -30c here in canada, the wires become brittle, specially the plug, and they break and crack and becomes a fire hazard, possibly shortening out when plugged in.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jim Bos says:

I use Deltran Battery Tenders on all my lawn mowers and tractors that are quite often parked for long periods of time. I haven't bought a battery since.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bob McElver says:

I bought a bunch of small Shumacher maintainers when Wally World was closing them out…….$9.99 a piece. I probably got 5 or 6 of em' back then. Although they weren't intended to be attached to the vehicle, or at least shown they were, they work like a charm……plug em' in and close the hood, good to go. No more dead bateries

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Reviews On This and That says:

Hi, I bought the Genious 2 as well to charge and maintain two different batteries, an SLA 6v and a LifePo4 12v too so far I love it because you can plug it in and forget about it, very useful, thank you sir.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Forbes Mike says:

I use a C-Tek charger, no complaints. Comes with a hard wired option, so clip it in when I needed it.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 02roundie says:

I wish the power cord was removable, so the power plug isn’t exposed to corrosion, and just dangling around in the vehicle. My Noco boost jumper has a removable cable with a plug cap on, fail to see why that’s not incorporated in the on board units.

Hey lady, don't wanna give your truck rona.😂

I use a Battery Tender on my back up generator, works great!

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Wings an things says:

Wicked smart trickle chargers by NOCO are sold at Canadian Tire north of the border. They come in a multitude of variations. I too have a RAM sitting out the winter on a charger. The NOCO can manage up to four batteries at a time. One amp per channel.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nick V says:

Why bother when you could just plug in a typical battery tender?

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Seager says:

Noco are great, I love my lithium charging one for my motorbikes.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Stacking Dimes says:

40.00 Bucks? My 10.00 Harbor Freight one does just fine, never had an issue 2 + years. Use it on my 2006 F-150 that only gets driven in the winter, just flipped 77,000 miles. Great video though!

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dark Delta says:

Yep, that battery HAD to go on wood.

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shane Harrison says:

Used them alot at home on tractors jeeps and trucks and cars their a good thing if you want to keep the battery at peak charge when you need it to be

    Any long term updates?

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark Ash says:

Needed one for wife's mercury mountaineer as she rarely drives it. after watching this, ordered this one. installed it today. Thank you 😊

On my 4×4 truck that sometimes does not get driven for months, I've got a deep cycle aux plus starter battery. I've got them both on seperate solar panels and regulators. The starter battery solar setup is sized to only keep it topped up. The aux setup has a larger sizing because when I take it camping, where I might be stationary for a couple of weeks at a time, the aux battery gets used (mostly for charging other stuff).

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars SOJUSLIM TDFLOCK says:

My grandpa said don't put the battery on concrete because the concrete would drain the battery is why you would put it on a piece of wood or plastic if you had it but preferably wood lolololmfao…

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gary Brenner says:

    AAA sells a battery tender,.
It can be hard wired to the batt. terminals with a quick disconnect , or simply hooked up with spring clamps.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars hystat says:

I had one of the older noco maintainers. It went goofy and started drawing 90mA when not plugged in. Now I just spend the $ on a AGM battery. The AGM seems to survive winter storage just fine.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars SojornCorr says:

I bought one from advanced auto , had it a year and no issues , works great, and it won't break the wallet. I do recommend it

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Efrem Williams says:

I have. NOCO charger and Jump pack. I love em both.

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars N K says:

Considering how high tech cars are these days why can't they just start up and charge themselves when the voltage gets to a certain level.

Been using maintainers in boats forever. An if grandpa said don't u better listen lololololol

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chris says:

Just happened across this video after I installed this charger on my JD 3720 tractor yesterday. Definitely am a fan of it after I let a battery go flat on it – stopped driving and I had to recalibrate the drive controller. Not horrible to do, but wasted half a day figuring out what was wrong.

Love your videos! Definitely always learning new stuff from you!

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dave Baker says:

    Optimate all the way.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Freddie Ray says:

I sometimes use the tender that I bought from Harley Davidson on my 95 Chevy PU when I don't drive it. Always kept the battery up to snuff. Never had a problem when it sat for months… Have the Bat Tender Jr for the bike mounted on wall next to bike…

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars tony Whitaker says:

i installed a similar unit on my mom's truck. she drives it 3 or 4 times a year. Works great. The truck starts when needed and she doesn't have to worry about it.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jim Posey says:

Battery Tender brand have 4 of them 👍🏻

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 8avexp says:

I just bought a NOCO Genius5 maintainer and hooked it up to my '69 AMX. Did the job. It even works with 6-volt batteries. The only device that draws any juice with the engine off is the clock.

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Graham says:

I put a NOCO Genius on the plow tractor at the farm last fall. Works great. Claims to 'desulfate' the battery. I don't know if it does, but it sounds cool.

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jack Aubin says:

What I've been using on my big mower tractor for 20 yrs is a cheap Canadian tire charger 1.5 amps about 2 X2" at the plug, leave it on there all year & I have only replaced the battery twice, I replaced it last fall the second time…

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jack Aubin says:

Love your work & knowledge, reminds me of my father, who could fix anything, lucky for me and my brother, both inherited the trait, not as good as him, but
we can work our way out of most anything, we grew up in a small town in northern Alberta & back then we worked on the old stuff, like trucks, cars, combines, tractors etc. The only electronics we knew was the points, condenser, and spark plugs. Of course, things changed and we adapted to the original electronic ignition, then the throttle body injectors, then when that era ended, all hell broke out & all this crap started happening & it gets worse every year, so I really admire you're calmness and persistence to not rip off the customer, but your knowledge awe's me, one of our sons (we have seven children between both of us & 10 grandchildren by July) is a very good computer tech, running his own business, he's about your age maybe? He,s 40. I made that assumption by your greying hair, he's slowly balding too, but no gray hair? I'm trying to get him to watch your channel, cause he's a cheap bugger & likes to fix his own shit, but when he does, he wants the best parts, I think it's a break from his work?

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jesse Walter says:

I have two Noco Genius, a 2 amp on my '64 GMC and a 5am on my 04 GMC Duramax.
