Just a quick tip I have had to do hundreds of these, use a piece of string to messure uour pipe length, saves fighting a large roll

When you make your bends with the tubing bender do measure to center of bend?
In other words make your mark at half the radius so you know where to set your bend in the bender.Line up mark at center of bend in bender then make bend at mark on pipe,this is what i do when bending electrical pipes.Electrician by trade here,bend a lot of pipe so probably can apply same concept.Thanks again.
Woo hoo!!! You're an artist, man! The tubing you fabricated matched the original really, really well! So many folks won't do that kind of work anymore. They'll call you and tell you they're waiting on a part. That was a masterful part replacement!
How did you're getting it off
a real diy fix would be 2 hose clamps and a foot of 3\8 hose right at the break .. because thats not the high pressure line
fluid film eats away rubber over time.

Ever use the fuel injection hose clamps? I like them better than reg " screw type " clamps myself.

in case anyone is wondering the part for this on my 2009 camry is "REIN PSH0423" got it from rockauto for $45. my power steering return line rusted through in that same spot that curves up toward front of vehicle. Bought to do the job this weekend. Nice video though – wow that flare kit is expensive though! ha

Takes me back to my days of replacing rusted out fuel and brake lines on 180" stretched Town Car limos. I still have nightmares about it.
When I first watched this video. I told myself when my car got like this I'll scrap it . (Ny car) . Here I am watching the video again debating if if I should fix it 😜😅 .

What if you used 2 hose clamps, would that barb/flare still be necessary? I didn't think there would be much pressure on the return.

It's your attention to detail (and your pointing out little but important details like "make sure critical fluid lines aren't rubbing on anything") that helped me to think of and produce custom anti-rub insulation which I installed on the lines passing between the condenser / radiator and the A/T on my Honda Pilot when I put in the aftermarket A/T fluid cooler. Thanks, dude!
Found this very useful. I will be doing similar thing here shortly on my yukon xl. I put some new fog light bulbs in the other day & i saw fluid on the skid plate. Turns out the steering gear box or one of the lines are seeping. So i may just be doing this over thanksgiving weekend to fix my baby.👍👍👍👍🇺🇸 thanks bro.
Hey I'm not familiar with this stuff but my return line from the hose where the reservoir is to the return line is kind of loose does that need to be tight or is it supposed to move around freely
Great video. Loving the ingenuity. Got a question for you. I am replacing the same line but not all the way back like you. It took much strength to remove the leaky line. Now the install is apparently even harder. Do you have any suggestion on sliding the hard rubber onto the barbed metal hose? I have about a centimeter connected now and had to stop due to lighting and temp. Do I just keep forcing and if so, what tools to you recommend? Currently I am using a pair of pliers to hold the metal (im sorry) and my gloved hand pressing where I parked a pipe clamp.
Thanks Eric O. Excellent job. I use electrical tape and tape the two together atnpoints in bends as a tracers. It helps when they go up in the bend. Pain but does works.

Got my hydraulic flaring tool from the CarQuest I was working at PT that advance closed… $50. One of my greatest days getting one over on the man. And I’m in the NE too so lots of brake line work comes my way too. I like that GM die for it to bump that out.
This video repair was extremely helpful to me (2002 Camry). Mine corroded and leaked at the bottom of that tubing "U" where it heads back up the reservoir. Seeing the exact path and how you get access to it is great stuff. Thanks.
Just had the same thing replaced on my'08 Lincoln MKX, BUT Napa,& advance didn't have it available for 3 days, but surprisingly the Ford stealership had it and was cheaper than both(kinda unusual) and the owner said the counter guy said that it's a part that goes bad often
nice flare tool but for just one time use lots of $$$ so I'm just going to my scarp yard and pull one off another car til I order a replacement oem .
Can you replace the metal line with a length of hose?
I want to see you do a brake line replacement video…. on something like a 1998 buick that has 40 feet of brake line in it.

Just abour to try and repair a pipe on a Kia carnival steering system. Video sure helped to get me started
I was doing copper, brass and steel pipe flaring back in the 70's. Mostly for high vacuum pump backing and cooling lines. There is something satisfying about doing it by hand with a tool like that!

This reminds me of a job I did on a crusty 08 Trailblazer here in Michigan. No lift, all on my back. PS rack connection was the biggest PIA. Talk about PS line twister.
Surprised you didn't get out the brake clean to get rid of all that leaked power steering fluid before you sprayed the fluid film.
Very few rubbers you can reuse. Yeah. All sorts of gross pictures ran through my mind. HA!!!!
