In this video we have a look at a Dodge Avenger that came in with the engine light on and a code "P2441 AIR Pump Switch Valve Stuck Closed." It doen't take to long to use the scan tool and find the stuck valve. -Enjoy!

My avenger needs the hose that the air pump hose connects to, but I canโ€™t find it for the life of me. My air pump hose is not attached to the big hose and i thinks itโ€™s causing problems. Because my big hose (I think itโ€™s the air intake hose or something) doesnโ€™t have a hole for the air pump hose to connect tooo

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars djsi38t says:

I will tell you why you never noticed that air pump…because this is a PZEV vehicle and not all avengers will have this special emission control gadgetry..only the PZEV models.Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle.

it may have been good it was stuck open

because on a cold start itโ€™s should be open to get cleaner air to mix into the exhaust.. i think it only runs for 90 seconds then shuts off. iโ€™m relating it to the air/smog pump that only runs for 90 then shuts off and maybe closes the valve once itโ€™s ran itโ€™s 90 seconds

so you may have been fixed it i understand that it would risk burning everything in front of it and is worth the couple dollar bills thank you good work on ur before after video
hope u donโ€™t feel ill like that again

Blowing out of both ends? Money light will be on soon haha. Speaking of valves getting stuck open after tapping I had this happen on an 07 Cobalt with the evap solenoid under the hood. Kept having "Check Gas Cap" display across the dash. Cleaned the gas cap seal and lubed it up. Cleaned the mating surface on the filler. Checked the check valve in the cap. Same thing plus an evap large leak detected code though I forget exact number. Gave the solenoid some whacks and it started flowing. Engine sounded like it was struggling just to idle though. Pulled off the gas cap and the car died haha. Once it was off I unhooked the battery and whacked it a few times again. Stuck shut again. Well thats better than open was. $18 later for an Acdelco part and all is well. I unfortunately didnt have a fancy bi-directional computer to control it and see the problem in action but sometimes the butt end of a ratchet is a great tool aswell.

That air pump sounded so much like a vacuum… freeflowing, blocked…
"Ya done vacuuming the room, Ethel?" LOL Great sense of humor, even when you are sick.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dan Chesney says:

Bowing out both ends? If you don't collapse, I'd look for a vacuum leak.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars j christensen says:

'Percussion Maintenance' is term I used in the Air Force for whacking something to get it working.

Hey Eric, how about some more videos with power probe 4 action. The manufacturer is kind of vague with functions.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Inspired Mechanics says:

Eric.. stop by the store and pick up some E-mergency packets.. mix one in a bottle of gatarade then down it. This will be two fold.. getting electrolytes up and boosting the vitamin C. Which helps the source of course being your immune system. Your recovery time will be much faster. Help the body by boosting the immune system and let it do the rest. Hope ya feel better soon!๐Ÿ˜†

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Willie Gillie says:

Better off not laying over an engine squeezing a hose with all that pressure inside ya. Batteries sheesh under the seat, in the fender? Where else can the go?!

You do awesome work, but I pray that you put the tools that you used in your video. I saw that you had Maxisys, but which one? One question thou, out of all the scanners you have, which one do you like the most? And why? I'm start looking at these scanners and want a professional opinion on what works the best.
    Thanks and God Bless.
    Marty

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Sise says:

The worst part of this job will be changing the stink'in battery. The only proceedure to access it is to pull all the ancillaries on the driver's side and remove the inner fender liner. The battery lives in the inner front fender.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Anonymous98 says:

Great tips, quick practical diagnosis, even though afflicted with the double-end, boogie-woogie flu. Feel better, make more videos.

Drink a tablespoon of organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar diluted in a cup of water every couple hours. That'll take care of that bug. I'm surprised your Grammy hasn't told you that. But maybe she knows more about car repair than home remedies.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars CaribooSawyer says:

Ehhhhhh… AIR pumps are still a thing? I thought that nonsense died out in the mid 90s, never ever see it around here on anything newer.

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Adam Trombino says:

Only certain Chryslers with 50 state emissions have A.I.R on them, and they only used them for a short time. They are only supposed to turn on briefly on a cold start to get the cat woken up. 1 thing of note, if you get 1 in with lean codes and high short term counters, check to make sure the pump is off. I've had a couple that were stuck on that were flooding the o2s with air, and neither had AIR codes! The fix for each was replacing that fuse/relay center module which Chrysler is famous for.. ( the name slips my mind cuz it's late and I'm having a brain fart ) Feel better soon!

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard M says:

I hope you get to feeling better soon and I hope your family don't catch too what you have

G'day, Mr. O! Wow! Blowing out both ends? That really sounds like, no fun!! Maybe your having one of those days, with a crank/no start, it's when you turn the key and you can hear your engine moving, but it's just not catching for you and running. Lol! ๐Ÿคฃ Thank you! I do hope you feel better!ย

    Cheers! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿš—โœŒ๐Ÿผโค๏ธ
