Had a LH front signal out on 2008 Ram 3500. Change bulb, still out ended up swapping sockets from left to right etc still had the issue. Ended up going through TIPM cleaned all sockets and blades even in behind on circuit board (very careful) reassembled still had the issue. Went to iMessage by now signal multifunction on column and after unplugging and remaking connection ended up with both front signals out. Thought at this point was the signal/multifunction switch. Ordered a new switch and replaced 2 days later and same issue….under feeling of defeat and adrenaline as is my work truck and required, started looking online watched this vid hoping for the epiphany but no….but did get the theme of get back to basics Dan. So went through wiring underneath looking for bared wire or some anomalies, had powered off TIPM multiple times by now to no avail. Even test light fuses again and RH appeared normal and working but not power at LH fuse either side. Put Batt charger on while thought would check front LH signal wire through insulation as park light working peeled back loom and was probing through signal power to bulb wire and signal started working…..tried everything like figure 8s with wiring etc pulling pushing could not get it to quit! Now I am happy its working, but don’t know the cause, and I hate that, makes one insane I think….best guess is connector to bulb socket? Anyone else have a similar issue t0 this. Thanks to South Main Auto for getting my head back to the basics though or would have bought a TIPM and most likely had same problem!! Thanks

First check I would do is check the trailer plug receptacle. Lots of dirt or bent contacts?
Same problem but one other thing with it sometimes blinkers just don't work at all
@South Main Auto Repair LLC i have a 2006 dodge ram 1500 and the driver side turn signal is not blinking on the outside of my truck. I changed all the bulbs and still nothing. Do you have any idea as to whats going on?

Mines is doing the exact same thing , passenger side blinking , check the 4 way it looks the same , green crap, but I’m confused as to what the problem is, do I cut the plug off? Help please

Have 2001 ram 2500 diesel when making left turns the engine revs like its in neutral and after turn is complete the tranny or rear end grabs again and truck is ok ever hear of this?

Where it's coming from the proper term is source where it's going to proper term is load. You think of them in this way you'll find it less confusing at times. You don't have to remember the names of where it's coming from and where it's going
Go to Prove if you don't know how it works you can't diagnose it you're only guessing

Love watching your old stuff! Back then you were so much more subdued! I like the new stuff better for that reason. One thing that just makes you the best, is you don't seem to cheat people! you could have sold him a body mod! you could have sold him anything that sounded good because most people are scared to death of electricity! I know, I am an electrician! even auto electrics which is so different! but when people are scared and naive, it's very tempting! so thank you!

I’ve been hooked on your videos for the last couple weeks. I really find the diagnostic process very helpful. I had a short on the rear taillight on a 2007 Escalade about 5 years ago which I accidentally found. Wish I had been exposed to this back then.

Great video. I also have signal problems with my 2016 Ram 1500. With my headlights on my rear right brake light is always on. I Haven't had the time to troubleshoot what the problem is.

Hey bought a truck for my boy, 1994 dodge ram, was not told it had no wire harness on the left side for rear lights. Went to the junk yard and got the harness and the rest if the wiring that wasnt there. Everything works fine. U till I turn headlights on. The left turn signal stays solid, and on the dash it also is solid. When I turn off head light the signal light flashes. What's wrong with it.
Fantastic and informative video. I have a 2004 3500 dually 5.9cummins. My blinkers hyper flash when I turn on the park lights. I've removed fuse 34 (LH tail) and backed probed the fuse to find a very faint pulse coming up the LH tail circuit. Thanks for your video, you've saved me a heap of time chasing this fault.

Why aren't these wire connectors covered with plugs to prevent that ? That's poor workmanship on whoever did that. I used to live in CT, and I watched the guy seal those connectors with a plug — very important when they're not in use !!
I have a slightly more impressive turn signal problem on my fiat,the signals are bcm controlled,oh joy!
All the signal lights on driver side don't work,either from hazard switch or stalk,all signal lights on passenger side are good!
The indicator light on my dash is flashing quickly when you turn on the right turn signals.
If i supply 12v to the positive wire anywhere the bulb will light!So bulbs are good and this proves earths are good!

I ran a new ground today that I thought solved the problem– before I saw this. But I didn't look at the trailer connectors. If I have a four-prong it has never been used. Checking that out tomorrow. Michigan salt is eating mine, from decades ago. I'm below the Rust Belt. I'll report back on the connectors.

You were spot on, take two steps back and rattle it around in your noggin awhile. I've seen too many part changers in my long career that waste time and money and leave the problem for somebody else.
My truck isDoing something similar turn the turn signal on to the left it automatically bounces to the right even though it is down for the left and switches back-and-forth
I noticed my truck started doing this after using a trailer. I bet this is my problem I will post an update later
