Do yourself a favor… If you live any where north, get a slide hammer…. I beat on my 2011 with sledge and pry bar for over an hour taking turns with a buddy.

Thank you for your help. I have a suggestion for the future that helped me. When you loosen the bolts take a punch and hit them. Helped, push the bearing out and off.

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bill Fick says:

Well done, Aside from the mega rust that I had to deal with keeping the hub locked in place. I had a smooth 4 hour job. Thanks, I need to get a lift.

Great video. Thank you for posting.

And yes, the calipers and parking brake assembly is junk. Replacing calipers for the second time in 50k miles.

What is it that you're pounding on with the hammer & chisel to get the hub off from where it's seized on? Need to do this to my 2012 van, only on the driver's side. =( Thank you for the video.

I hate when youtube mechanics cut through a part of the repair and you get to that part and go…wth…. That's exactly what happened to me. I was to the part of replacing the abs wire and this video just cuts through the tin shield dealy. For those of you who get to that part (only on the rear passenger side bearing) There are multiple shields on the car, the shield that is pinning the cable to the body is the last/most rearmost shield. It's held on by two 8mm connectors (my 5/16th fit slightly better). You'll probably need an extension to reach the front connector. Take these two connectors off and the shield can be moved downward enough to put the new abs cable in, exactly how the old one was. Hope this helps and god bless.

What was the reason for the Hub replacement?

I ask because the 3rd in my caravan is shaking.

    Thanks

nice job but PLEASE also teach safety first….When pounding a hammer on a chisel, wear safety glasses….many eye injuries result from omitting safety first rules thank you .

all great but on chisel it is written wear eye glasses

If the old hub is frozen in the knuckle take a BFH & drive out 2 of the old wheel studs. Remove the 3ea 10mm bolts & the dust shield on. Buy 2ea 4" X 1/2" hex bolts (full thread). Stick them through the 2 lug nut stud holes placing 2ea 1/2" hex nuts on the back side of the hub, screw the 2ea 1/2" bolts in pressing the tips of the bolts against the steering knuckle (NOT THE EDGE OF THE WHEEL HUB). This should serve to "press" out the old hub from the steering knuckle.

The long bolt & nut method along with a BFH worked on my Indiana driven 09' T & C with 130k on the clock.

Love the video, just 1 negative comments from myself as a mechanic to another, use only copper grease behind your brakes or pads its high temperature grease and stays put unlike other grease.
