  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 1337penguinman says:

Something learned very quickly working on anything Chrysler/Dodge. There's always something. A job will look easy as hell but there's always a gotcha with these. ALWAYS.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars LeewardStudios says:

I agree with the accumulator rationale. One reason I like many Ford truck as well as Honda and Toyota AC systems. The accumulator/dryer is easy to get out and usually not very expensive.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Vmlc L. says:

Napa parts don’t last at all! However good for the mechanic they’ll be right back in two years for the same repair.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shade Tree Mech says:

I love the way he anticipates what we are going to say about what he is doing and preemptively calms all of us down.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mopar Mike's MS says:

Remember, water boils in a vacuum. I agree with you on the accumulator, no hand grenaded system, pull a vacuum for a while to test the system for leaks but also to remove all moisture. Oil & Freon, and you are good to go! Desiccant should be bone dry.

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ralph Anderson says:

Having just done this job on a 2002 Ram 5.9, there was about 2.5 oz oil drain from the removed compressor – I was informed to add 6 oz oil to the new empty replacement compressor. The 18 mm ports on the correct compressor do have hose sealing washers besides the o-rings.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nunya Bidness says:

Is that the same Subaru(?) in the other bay that was there in the part 1 video?? Must've been a big repair on that one, too.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars turbotato says:

100% agree with your accumulator assessment…the compressor clutch failed not the compressor itself…risk of debris in the system is lower than the high likelihood of damaging the evaporator lines do to poor access and corrosion. Sometimes you got to be pragmatic…

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Doug Francis says:

Why can't you grind or file that end down to fit

    Yes more mrs o

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Sharp says:

I am super curious why if you replace the receiver/dryer and the orifice tube it will leak for sure and then you have to replace the evaporator core. I have a 04' ram 3500 5.9 cummins that got the whole kit treatment with the main components replaced except the evap core and it is leaking out, but we cannot find the area it is leaking from so we have to assume it is the evap core now.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shane Harrison says:

    It's a cool fix

IT has been told to me …that … a certain body repair shop in Melbourne Australia… gets an identical ( ha ha not smashed ) …. car in to match the one they are rebuilding …. they sit side by side … so every thing down to the screws are as new / original … I'm not saying you ( Mr O )need to that but a picture might help from time to time …. really really like your videos …thanks ….. and I do …. " you can do it " from time to time

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars bigjokerkrazyrace says:

I got a good AC issue, electrical in a sense. 2006 1500 quadcab. AC would not turn on. Would blow warm air. Then noticed the side mirror defrost would not turn on either. Fuses replaced. AC system leak check & properly serviced. Changed fan, did not fix issue. Pressure switch good. Changed control panel, did not fix the issue. This gen Dodge has the TIPM fuse box. No relays. I start the truck, pop the hood, turn AC on, then bang the fuse box twice, & fan kicks on with clutch engaging on compressor and cold air blows. Defrost button will turn on also. Guess TIPM is faulty.

Thanks Eric, I just had the Exact same problem on on '07 ! (I did as you suggested in Part 1, pushed out the bearing and sent it to a bearing shop to get matched,)
Love your work, and getting to come along for the diagnosis and the problem solving. Great Channel.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars michael m says:

Definately a washer. Washer in this case is used as a spacer so it mounts flush. The o rings do the sealing. The o-rings themselves do the sealing. Try a tube of O ring grease in a tube. Some oils will eat away at the o ring or swell them too much and distort them .

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Thomas Devine says:

No problem with no accumulator because the compressor is ok inside but safety third taking off snap rings without safety glasses is stupid you would look silly with a eye patch

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars hallcrash says:

Aren't the O-rings on the cover that you removed before installing the hoses? They are green.
