watching this and thinking so its not just my kids that wanna roll down ramps on chairs lol
Geez you Americans have huge ass trucks, Our twin can utes (utilities) are nowhere as big. Despite the size of our country, car park spaces are bloody small.
So happy for you Ray, you're doing it!
Wish you the best
Ray: "Its my first day."
It's cool that your child is there with you and learning. My mom used to take me to work when I was very young and it made me feel so good to learn and to be helpful.
Ray, you're mooovin' on up in the business world! Slowly coming together, good luck!
You have insurance on ALL THE THINGS already right? disasters, theft of your stuff, injury, bla bla bla.
Small tip I learned with my shop brake clean is expensive get 55gal drum and cans you pressurize lol nice start for a shop better than my first 1 bay start
I know the fear with your livelihood I moved all my tools from Arizona to California then to Oregon and a yr ago to Alaska 35yrs 5 boxes and a never told the wife amount of tool truck rapeage
and the adventure begins,,thankyou Ray,,👌👍
Ray needs a live in shop dog, a big one with a bad attitude and f@*ck off big teeth.
See if simplisafe mob will be a chan sponsor and hook you up with a full camera and security system. Important now you have your own shop. Wish you well in this venture.
Be safe this week. I see a storm is on the way.
I'm so excited for you !!
First shop upgrade, put a decent winch on the roller door.
When do I get to meet the wife?/! Or is she camera shy..Tell her I promise not to bite unless she's in to that sort of thing…Hee..hee.hee
Just saying. :):):)
Some of my fondest memories is from when my Dad owned his shop. Spent many hours playing in his shop. I was probably about the age of your kids. Thanks for taking me back. Good luck brother.
Alternative title "Wrecked the Truck!"
Customers sweat about their crummy cars
That place looks amazing. Maybe some Rush, Wu Tang, and Merle Haggard tapestries up high on the walls?
How hot has it been in Florida man it's been almost 80 here in Tennessee
More tips: make sure you have a regular routine for opening up the shop and closing down at the end of the day. Make it efficient to get in and get out without compromising security.
I hope it all goes well for you Ray. It's a big step..
Shower at Rays
How cool!
I hope to live this dream as you are in the near future, It's nice to see what it could look like. Lot's of work to do to get there.
Yo check engine light
If for some strange reason that bulb in the dashboard was… well
was not working on a electric California lawn mower
Man I've been here since you left the dealership and glad to see your progress! I'm starting from scratch myself doing Mobile repairs
I heard a wheel bearing…
Where's the cat?
You might want to use the circuit breakers as your power-down source. This way you don't have to walk all over the shop.
It’s somewhat reassuring to see your oil pressure runs as low as mine. Even after replacing 2 oil pressure sensors, I am still receiving this “blessing” from GMC. Best of luck going out on your own. I’m sure you’ll do just fine.
Glad and good luck to your new adventure.
Thank you !
Glad you are making progress in the new shop.
congrats Ray wish you all the best in your new venture and umm you turned the radio off so what are the mice going to listen to😁😁
Will you cut back on the brake cleaner now your having to buy it?🤣🤣🤣. Mmmmm shining!👍
Your very livelyhood is no longer in your trailer in your backyard or some other owner's garage. It's in an industrial area near what I think is the Palmetto area. So: Use Ably or Best brand locks, reenforced door ways and jams, harden those windows in the office, find security surveillance cameras that use onsite DVR equipment bolted to the infrastructure with online backup, with 3x full online UPS (to avoid constant tripping to battery as your air compressor kicks on). and you might consider motion and sound monitoring while unoccupied. Find a security system that is monitored with operator ability to PA into the area. 7-11 uses similar systems Don't forget to consider intrusion from your neighbor's shop. And get insured and reevaluated by their adjuster. You know, once you can afford all it. Oh, and make friends with the local Manatee/Sarasota Sheriff's office. Perhaps pick up some contract work for their office, but offer friend/family discounts to the individual officers personal vehicles. That can go a long way for emergency response and false alarms.
AC on a surge protector is a nogo!
There's 2 ways to set up shop for "Ray's Bays"… The first way is to simply bring in your most used tools, but do NOT dedicate any particular place for them. Start bringing in cars for repair and all your tools will quickly find their correct place where they make the most sense to you. The downside of this first method is the disorganization at the beginning, but it quickly becomes organized over the first week or two. While this method takes a bit longer up front, the tools will end up being in a more usable place because their locations come out of necessity of actual use. The second method is to put the tools where you think they ought to be before you start doing repairs. This is the way most people do things. The downside of this method is that you will probably do a whole bunch of rearranging as necessities and convenience becomes clarified. These people often never feel they're done organizing and it can go on forever, which is fine if it suits you. Both of these ways do work, but one needs to realize it's smarter to go with one of these methods then it is to have no organizational plan whatsoever (but even that can work too).
For now… GOOD outside cloud recording cameras !
Word of mouth advertising/referrals is the best you can get. Yellow pages are ‘shoppers’ ! “How much do you charge per hour“ – “how fast do you want me to work”? Release from liability forms for when they don’t want to repair defects !
The office should not have an outside window! You desperately need more/better lighting – have fun !
RAY!! It's Polece
You need a CCTV system… Lorex makes one with free smartphone notifications when there is movement in a defined area and it sends it to you) … Can also hook up to your alarm to set it off of it sees movement in your shop for example. Plus it serves as a record for any damages claimed by a customer both in your shop and outside it for liability purposes. Super cheap and easy to setup. I used to do these on the side. Just a tip. Don't go wireless, easily jammed by criminals.
Just flip circuits in the breaker when leaving instead of running around unplugging things. Just don't flip the security cams circuit.
Like how you are with your children. Involving them
Before this video footage of your shop I thought Florida was palm trees and sand
With all the tools you have , I was wondering how long it would be until you said you needed electronic tools…hahaha.
Better get cameras and a security system!
Ray, Check the air pressure, left front tire on the truck looked low on the video!!!!!
Help and support from your family is priceless.
cool that you're not too far from ol Cleeter. Nice shout out to the Freedom Factory when you drove past.
Hey Ray I'll buy those headlights from you, I have an 03 1500 hd that has the same type of headlights and I've been looking for some better ones other than stock
An exciting time in your career. Nice shop to start it over again. Praying for you and the family. Enjoy.
Need more lumens!
I like the new place. Good luck on your adventure. I look forward to the future.
STOCKN UP ON BREAK CLEAN !!
Security System?
Its looking good Ray, I pray all goes well with this new chapter in your life.
Further security tips , you have a lot of very expensive equipment & a lot of people will now know where you are located, secure the windows of new shop with bars & also install some cameras.
Better to be safe than sorry & what you pay for security is peanuts. Also you will find you can relax at night when not at your premises & it also gives you peace of mind. Dusty (Australia)
Good luck with your new business. Greatly enjoy your videos.
You got this ray!
Hi there, just wanted you to know your office AC should always be pulled directly into the outlet. Just switch the light plug, and AC. Besides that little gem, your right things are coming along. Congrats again!
Two more words to go with "pressure washer" "Alarm System". Please for your sake get a REAL alarm from a Reputable full service company. Check the decals at a place you shop, look at the quality of work, ask a few friends. Well worth the investment. And Please…. Do NOT get some wireless piece of crap, get a real alarm… hard wired. ( If I was not so far away and so busy, I would probably drive over and set you up at no charge. But alas, I am too far.
Need to get some timers so you don’t have to keep unplugging stuff 🤷♂️
Ray, don't forget to make a little customer waiting area for adults & the kiddies!
Ray, don't forget to install one of those phones with that famous ringtone "doolie – doolie – do"!
I'm surprised you didn't have the bigger of the two lifts installed directly across from the door for easy access.
Also when bringing vehicles in, you could back then in, to give more space, since most work will be done under the hood.
I see a family business starting to form there. Well done Ray. 👍🆒👍
So glad for you Ray I called it when you posted the I'm fired vid. I knew even then that you're care for every customer and family would steer you along your way. Good luck don't forget racers sometimes need work done to thier autos.
Hello Ray, I thought I posted once before but it didn't get saved. I wish you well. I know your getting a trillion pieces of advice so all I'm going to say is take your time and build your business the way you want. Be nice to yourself and stop to think things through. Write stuff down it helps. You and your family are loved. Best wishes from Michigan Ed Prothero
It is a lot easier to fix your electrical up before you load a bunch of gear in.
Your office aircon should be on its own dedicated 20A circuit if you can arrange. Your unit looks "about" 20A, but you need to match your breaker against the current draw on the plate, or guess against the BTU (it's basically a big motor).
A better quality used UPS will filter out all the spikes hitting your computer, laptop or desktop.
Is Storm/hurricane Nicole going to give you weather issues?
You're a hard working fellow Ray
Where's the brake clean?????
I used to have that same matco box
Ray so excited for ya
You have gone from being an ex-employee who might be looking for a job with your old employers competitor to becoming your old employer's competitor. Very cool!
And from an employee to possibly an employer (some day). Also very cool!
2 for 2 on same songs on my playlist lol
Yes Sir, you have a beautiful family. Lots of folks are pulling for you and your family. May God Bless you're family and you're new business.
Looking great Ray, it’s truly a family operation. So happy for ya!!!
Hate it if you had a disagreement with the boss of this place dude. Cannot wait to see this succeed though, wishing you the best of luck from across the pond here in sunny Wales.
Ray next time you lease a place negotiate a couple of rent free weeks to set your place up.
So happy and excited for you! Coming along nicely!
Good luck on your new adventure Ray.
Your ac unit will burn that power strip up. Needs to be plugged directly into the outlet.
What’s all the tool boxes and stuff outside of roll up door ?
My only complaint…..please don’t leave the AC plugged into a surge bar. If nothing else that should be the one directly plugged into the wall, I have seen them melt in the past and really don’t want to see anything bad happen to such a good hearted person.
I wish I was in your area, if I was I'd offer to come do the electrical work for you
Oh and they where the sportsman brand don't ever get on they are complete junk
I ordered a generator from Walmart a couple years ago and they sent me 2
wishing you all the best Ray
Get a body camera mount then you can use both hands?
You need to gather some friends together and have a cleaning and painting party…
You should go say hi to Cleetus McFarland from from the freedom factory race track. He's a YouTuber (3M subs) as well. Has a private workshop down the road with lots of fast cars.
I'm here for dad mode Ray
I’m excited for you and your family…..
I swear I saw some ponies
Sweet. Gearing up to start getting to work. As some have pointed out, your desk should have its user facing more towards the entrance way, so you don't get surprised by someone walking in.
Get you good Wired Security system. Swann makes some good systems fairly inexpensive. Maybe some bars on the windows too. As a shop owner myself, you can't protect your investment enough. You will make it just fine.
You need one of those automatic door-opening thingies….
