Finally found why you left the dealership. (Been working backwards on your older content) Back when I was a younger lad and a mechanic, working at a dealership was considered a dream job. Love all your content.

Good on you. I have refused to work on Saturday for a long time and had a few disagreements. Canโ€™t they make enough in five days?

Freedom is bliss, you and your family deserve to have a good life and employers need to recognize this if they want to have a happy and productive workforce. But not many managers get this!!

Ray this was the very very first video I ever watched from your series and after that I was hooked so thank you for the videos for GM and itโ€™s on to greener pastures. When you are a great technician you will never ever be out of a job thatโ€™s a fact God bless you Ray โœ๏ธโœ๏ธโœ๏ธ

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars np4tch says:

Okay wtf was that? Just because you declined to work 6 days a week they decided they don't want you anymore? Well screw them Ray don't bow down to anyone. Oh and about the pushrods, which car manufacturer still uses these turdrods if overhead cams are waaaay better in quality and design? I just can't understand that. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

It is a shame that you didn't get to finish this job. I own a 2017 GMC Denali 1500 6.2 and was looking forward to seeing this. Hopefully I won't have to deal with this myself. I know premium lubricant is the key to stop this from happening.

If management's personal lives were the cost for management's mismanagement, there would be far less mismanagement.

Employers always want to push their employees like the employee doesn't have the balls to walk off the job these days. Kudos to you sir.

hey Ray. just finished watching this one a little over a year after it came out. its nuts to see how much content you put out in only 1 year at the new place and all in all you seem much happier than at the dealership.

I am an independent plumbing contractor in the uk. 37 years now. Most of my clients are referrals and are great. Once in a while I have a nightmare client.I feel my blood pressure rising. I pack up my tools and walk away. It is such a liberating feeling knowing that I donโ€™t have to take crap. Next day I have another job. Itโ€™s great looking at my phone and seeing 3 or 4 missed calls and a grovelling voicemail or text from yesterdayโ€™s nightmare. Fxxk them ! Too late !

You worked for them five days a week. They wanted more from and told you to work six days a week but ended up having you zero days a week. That was a counter productive move of them and ended up costing them extra work (hiring a new mechanic), revenue/profit (from not having you work five days a week) and risk (new guy being incompetent or inefficient).

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Donald Clark says:

Iโ€™m going to stick with you Ray

Had a friend that graduated from avionics maintenance school and was courted by a lot of different companies because avionics guys are hard to find. They flew him in a private jet from MN to St Louis quoted an incredible hourly wage and said he would be working 6 days per week, 10 to 12 hours per day. Told them, fly me back right nowโ€ฆ.hereโ€™s the quote โ€œI work to live, I donโ€™t live to workโ€. I thought that was the best quote I had ever heard.

Brother you did the right thing by walking. Eventually even if you had agreed you would have quit cold Turkey. When I worked for USG as a forklift operator they started me at five days a week at ten hour days starting at 12AM. Then it became six days a week at ten hour days which after two weeks went to 12 hour days. I was working my ass into an early grave. Loading flat bed trucks with wall board in New York winters with absolutely no heat and cold air blowing off the Hudson. I was going psychopathic. I up and quit. I was getting no rest at all. I found a job making the same money but without the overtime hours.

Dam shame, they cut iff their nose to spite their face, they will go through 10 half assed mechanics and deserve it ,, In my business they call Mechanics engineers, of which most are glorified oilers. In 16 years I met maybe a half dozen with the aptitude that is required for the job, Master mechanics, which is in your realm. I was pretty good at maintaining the equipment I worked with being a Licensed captain , had to be , always diesel , but no where near your level. Once An engineer noticed my tug black stacking, He ordered a blower , it was a Detroit diesel, I told him are you sure, he told me to be quiet, he drove 200 miles round trip to get the part, while he was gone I replaced the air filter, when he was half way through disassembly , I planned it that way, I asked what the hell are you doing, told him about the air filter.๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Tutty says:

Good for you, Ray. Well done indeed. I prefer dealing with independent shops. Mind, I prefer to do my own work, but 6 shoulder surgeries tell me it is a bad idea. Do is trying to find a mechanic who knows our, or is willing to learn how to work on an old Volvo 240 wagon. Most jobs are pretty straightforward. I'm really enjoying you channels. Keep up the good work

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Harry Velez says:

Ray good luck for the new job I always want you video your great mechanic an honest guy God bless I wish you the best

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Duncan McEwan says:

I didn't know you were in a dealership before. I can't believe that the options were work 6 days or take a hike. Good on you for sticking it to them. Having seem a lot of your newer content – It might not all be shiny GM stuff and some vehicles should be condemned in my opinion – but watching the repairs on a diverse range is much more interesting. The fact you got a new job so quick shows that it's not just us who appreciates your skills.

Dealership's loss (believe me it was financially huge) is next shop's gain. Good Tech's are in very short supply as Ray's last employ already knows. Techs have to look out for themselves, move on as opportunity opens. Many shop's will even pay a negotiated fee for a money maker like Ray.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Wyatt Selleck says:

Dealership trying to do more with less. Imagine that. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿ–•
