Come along with Eric O. as we have a look at this retired cop car (Ford Crown Victoria) that was towed in for a "No Start, No Crank." We also find out quickly that it is a no communication with the PCM also. What will it be!? -Enjoy!

bro i got a 2005 police vic. got codes 351-358. died suddenly on the freeway. cranks, no start. all fuses good. swapped all relays, nothing. fuel cutoff in trunk, nothing. did heavy super start in the intake, no fireup of anything. ideas bro? would rather buy a part then have to call a mobile mech.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joseph Mcnamee says:

Any thoughts on a 2003 Lincoln town car, when I put my car into gear it stalls out. I replaced the throttle position sensor and still doing it. Could my crank shaft position sensor be bad? I can hear a weird noise up front before the car stalls too at times.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MetroVic says:

Enjoyed that thanks. We've all been there, don't feel bad. Love Crown Vics, I have one myself in the UK. Just found your channel so will be watching some more.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars PR TechGuy says:

I know this video is old, but it was very informative – even if it was just a fuse. Love the car computer. What do you suggest that won't break the bank.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars zr1sparky1 says:

The next 20 times you get a car in with a fuse laying on the floor It will have nothing to do with anything

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars williams87ji says:

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hawk 1966 says:

Maybe the guy wanted to test the shop, see how honest a mechanic Eric is?

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Antavia Thompson says:

I have the same problem and it's been in the shop for 3 weeks and they still don't no.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jr neff says:

..not charging ok alternator bad? belt bad? or broken wire. the charging bulb was bad . my dad worked at a nursing home telephone lines run from end to end 500 plus rooms in his tool box was a ring out tool power up the wire on one end go a mile down the road find the same wire. i used that tool to fix a not charging tractor cause the bulb was bad . 5 hrs taking the side panels off etc. 50 cent bulb.

Great job! Great tools and library resources.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark Zinsmeyer says:

Dr. O, ol' Eric is a professor now. ๐Ÿ˜ I don't know who this customer is or what he does, but it appears he got an A+ on his final exam since he Stumped the Professor. Honestly, I think the owner had pulled the fuse to keep somebody from stealing it, and probably had forgotten that he had done that.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars kenneth litton says:

Now, I'd question why was the fuse pulled, is there a short some where?

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nick Sarola says:

I watched 2 random videos of yours videos today, the Hyundai and the Ford crown Vic with missing fuses. What are the chances? Lol. Then the customer says youโ€™re charging me x amount of dollars for a fuse? Look at the work you had to put in. Crazy.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rudolf Benner says:

I smell a rat, that was a test.

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sean McKinnon says:

This is the best South Main Auto channel video ever!

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ozzy Krahn says:

i had the same issue with turn signals. was doing stuff and i lost turn signals, tracing wires and found out i didnt put the fuse back in to supply power to the turn signal relay

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gerald Fields says:

You ever think you may have been set up?

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shane Harrison says:

Still a good video bud it at the least gives you guidance toward finding the connections to all the mods

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shane Harrison says:

Yep fords fuse blocks never have any form of labeling that can be helpful

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Martin Kucic says:

    ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ฌ

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ira lee Martin jr. says:

    Stink bug.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shane Harrison says:

Hey you still did your best even though it was a single fuse pulled and laying on the floor

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shane Harrison says:

I always thought those worthless fords had their fuses mapped out in the operators manual inside the first couple pages

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jon Pickering says:

Itโ€™s a good video, fuses good place to start on older vehicles I reckon, not newer ones

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ray Hannum says:

Does anybody out there know why a 2004 Crown Vic police car would have a fuel pump that's starts making a hammering noise…..starts then dies and won't run???

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jerry A says:

Also curious as to why you don't see many Fords.

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jerry A says:

Yeah I'm also curious to know what the owner had to say…..

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Old Geordie Geezer says:

Dude! Have to say I enjoy your videos. And this was brilliant.
Considering that it was an ex-police car and as you said they probably just ripped all their gear out, it wasn't too weird to find a fuse on the floor.

I worked for 30 years on mission critical military systems, and now, having retired I want to play with car diagnostics. My own non-vehicle experience suggests that you followed a pretty logical path to get where you ended up. So don't beat yourself up over that.

As I said I enjoy your videos – I have spent a lot of time recently watching diagnostic videos and some of the guys who make them are just complete dicks. It's nice to find someone who is level headed, grounded and does not consider himself a movie star.
You are obviously a guy who is happier talking to your camera than talking to other people.

    Keep them coming man.

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kenneth Burkhardt says:

It turned out to be a 1 blown fuse and 1 missing fuse but without the proper approach and troubleshooting you might still be looking for the "heres your problem lady" and taking stabs in the dark…so no it wasnt a useless video Thanks Eric

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Arletta Jenkins says:

    A

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steve Botnick says:

That was freakin' awesome, a good laugh. next time you'll think twice when you come across an open fuse block, a 10a fuse on the floor and no PCM comm.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Daniel Walsh says:

    Ford r fucking stupid

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars delaishia Martin says:

I have a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis GS i done changed everything for as brand new alternator radiator heater core hose evap core fix the complete oil unit ac compressor and condenser the car been driving fine for about 2 years of me having now she stopped starting so I thought it could it crankshaft sensor what could it be fuel pump maybe TPS idler air control valve

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ken Mohler says:

I know this is a two year old video, but I still learned from it. Eric, I think you took the right approach (like I would know) and you came to the right solution, even if it was ridiculous that the fuse was on the floor. Thanks for posting this one, maybe against your better judgement. There are still things to be learned. I really liked BOB for example, and even though Iโ€™m just a hobbyist, I just ordered one. Maybe I can impress someone with the blinking lights. Seriously, there is a lot of information in those lights.

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars dude5576 says:

Ya leave the lab top a loan bub

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Justin snider says:

If you want to know if the empty fuse slot is supposed to be not used, look to see if both holes have female pins in them. If they're not used, there will be one female pin only and the other cavity will be empty. If both cavities have a pin to receive a fuse, then the fuse is in fact missing. Just food for thought, but that's how I check at a glance before I go through the time to find a component list.

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steve Perrett says:

    good lesson

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Thomas says:

I have a 09 Durango doing the same thing.. hope it's just a fuse.. thanks for the video..

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Breler says:

I have a crank and no start on 95 town car. I don't trust any of the mechanics around here, been burned a few times. Is it worth starting with just replacing all the fuses? I have fuel pressure and spark to spark plugs. Thanks for any guidance.

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Darren A. says:

Your "Stupid Video" your words not mine. Actually helped me out. I have a friend that told me a strange story about the passenger side rear plug getting wet. It will make your Crown Vic. do all sorts of funny things. I am a witness. Take off the Coil Pack. Take the plug out, dry off everything very good, and WOW. She runs, drives Great. Thought I would share that one with you. Thanks.
