In this video I swap out the front CV axles in a customers 2018 Ford Eco Sport. It's AWD and we run into a small snag with the transfer case seal but other than that it goes pretty text book.
-Enjoy!

Great lights for you not good for other road users about time the law was changed
Hit me right in the back and feels when he smacked on that wheel and more dust came off his clothes than the wheel, lol
You all with southern cars have no idea how good you have it
I never tire of your segways to the comments section.. how in the world do you come up with a new one every single time!
I like the way you talk because it makes some people mad
That flip socket for the lug nuts with swollen caps is a CTA Tools 4221. Eric O. showed that in one of his previous videos and I picked one up. Handy to have on hand in the tool box.
Mrs O with the assist. Lol
Had me ๐at we got the swollen ๐ฅ๐ฅ's haha
I sometimes wonder if your viewers ever realize "" HOW MANY "" tools ๐จ๐ ๐ง๐ช๐you have to use to do a simple repair / replacement job on a vehicle !!!! This job took multiple air gun tips, multiple sockets, hammers, wrenches, chisels, pry bars, special prying tools for moving the " A " arms, penetrating oils, grease, anti seize, torque wrenches, magnetic dish for holding bolts – screws – washers etc ????? That adds up to a lot of cash๐ธ๐ฐ๐ต investment to do your work daily !!!!! I ๐จโ๐งbring this topic up because my ๐งโ๐งwife / partner reminded me that I keep buying ๐ธ๐ฐ๐ตtools and I have too many !!! I reminded her that she keeps buying shoes and dresses and blouses and she might have too many !!! So I told her that tools get the job done and thus we have income to๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ live !!!! And can she say that about her clothes and shoes ??? So, back to the job at hand – seems to of went fairly easy, no knuckle busting or excessive groaning or grunting !!! New OEM parts went right on and job completed !!! Of course the tech tips are priceless and the explanation of how to progress thru this replacement is good learning information !!! And you get all that in the PRNY in Avoca at South Main Auto by a ASE Certified Master Mechanic – it gets no better than that – and you won't find it anywhere else !!!!!!!!! ๐๐บ๐ฏ๐
I mean, if every now and then, I felt like it. I would given my free service like if they needed new lug notes , I would give them free lug nuts every now and then , I would do something for free for someone just to show that I care about the business that they're giving me I mean it's just me
Eric
Where's those safety glasses๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฎ
Were you able to find a part number for the socket adapter for the air hammer?
I have a 95 F-350,had a lot of problems keeping it running. Put a junkyard computer in it and it now runs smooth. I intend to keep this truck for a long time so would rather have a computer that not used. Do you recommend anyone that refurbishes them to like new condition??
Hey Eric, total solar eclipse is going to be passing over your neck of the woods on April 8th of this year. Youโll probably have to drive north a bit to get in the path of totality. Passing through Buffalo and Rochester. Itโll happen about 3:30pm. I HIGHLY encourage you to check it out!
Glad to see you back. Missed you last week & Mrs. O. Another great job.
Couple of clackers in the house…
Mechanics on here say to remove the brakes and the ball joint for my Enclave but all I had to remove was the axle nut and the strut bolts.
Glad you still keep Mrs. O working in the shop. You need to keep a qualified technician to teach you a thing or two. ๐. Keep up the great videos always learn a few tricks from watching your videos. See ya on the next one.
Think itโs best to start with 3/4โ socket because itโs a couple thousands larger than 19mm plus sockets are slightly oversized to begin with. I have a 28 year old F150 thatโs been outside all its life that likes the 3/4โ for a long time
Eric O, Staple Person !!!
Hahah ge says harder, but she hurts ya haha. You either want it hard or not.
Thanks to fast lube place in my area, I had to replace my lugs, on one of my car tires.
Need to change out my lug nuts…my Challengers started to do that when I swapped over to winters. Mcgard here I come
SK tools, from what I understand, was purchased by some Chinese company.
They were down for a long time. Couldn't even buy something from them
Glad to hear they are back up. Hopefully still in the good ole USA.
I don't know if you have ever experienced this or any of the other people watching your videos. So i owned a 2008 Chevy Silverado half ton, i was driving in south Florida looking for a business that had moved. Anyway as i was driving in heavy traffic my truck was doing some weird things. It kept trying to turn the engine off and on, the door locks would lock and unlock. And finally I found the place i was looking for and I wasn't sure if I turned it off if it would start again. It started so I told my wife I was going to the Chevy dealership to see what in the heck was going on. They checked both battery cables and said they were bad and of course they would have to order them. Quite costly at around 800 bucks and I thought surely they were gold plated. That solved the problem. Wherever they ordered them came the same day but they had already drove me home. So I said I would get it tomorrow and they said they would come and pick me up, which they did. Amazing!
Can anyone tell me why Eric change two axles instead of only the damaged cv joint. Thanks
Ok, when I nod my head, hit it. I was just thinking about that.๐
Sk tools got bought out by a Chinese company
Dang. That is a pretty good flashlight thing. Dropped it, still works.
What happened to Doctor O (watch his 1st video's)and New Yorks most eligble bachelor Josh. Those were the days.
Stupid Fords. Complete junk.
Manual bolt removal with a box end hand wrench?
Thank you Brother!
Iโm new to your channel and I think youโre a very thorough and talented ! With that said Mr.O I watched your video on the tank heater in the def tank and I was wondering why you didnโt ohm the new part before you installed the new heater ?
hi luv the videos empathise with the frustration in auto repair need help my hav friend with gmc duramax 2500(early model) runs for about 45 minutes then goes into limp mode no chek eng light any ideas appreciated i am out of options, engine replaced thanks
The build quality on that light you have is excellent, it hits the ground a lot in your videos and keeps on shining. Thanks for the video Eric!
I always thought a rap across the knuckles was performed with a wooden ruler but Mrs O and her hammer obviously likes to take it a stage further!
Hi Mrs O Nice to see you again ๐๐๐
Ford should be sued under the trade descriptions act, as those are the worst wheel nuts ever produced.
I'm a mobile tyre fitter in the UK, and I make a small fortune replacing these for customers because the previous garage monkey had used his brand new 2000nm airgun he got of Father Christmas, and used it on full power to tighten a wheel nut that requires 110nm, thus causing the cap to twist & rendering them useless.
Eric, little did they know they came to axles are us! Nice clean job!
By the way, How high does the lift in the other stall go?
So is that a compulsory seal replacement everytime we have to change the passenger side axle?
That is one job you wouldn't want to do in the driveway with the car on jack stands. Eric makes it look easy.
Might be just me but your little air gun sounded wicked, like my speakers blew playing massive bass lol. Feel like I didnโt used to hear that Everything else sounded like normal.
It was an interesting coincidence to have this as the first recommended video today when I got home. One of the guys was struggling with some of those foil cap lugnuts at the end of the day. I was surprised when the customer said just replace them all with solid ones because he had the same problem trying to change the brakes.
I believe Steelman is the manufacturer that makes the 1/2 size lug nut dockets.
Where did McCoy go or was this an after hours video?
I hate these ecosports so much it's unreal.
As Johnny use to Say–which game First, the Hammer or the Nail….
Love the comment about the money owed!!! I'm the same way!
Mr. O thank you for your time in recording your work, you and your shop is the one of the best I have seen to day….
Where would the World BE without a Hammer???
Miss O to the rescue!!!!
Rainman said get yourself a Wobbly Socket for use in Tight Places….
It's called a back sidekick. 3rd degree black belt in taekwondo .
Is that mrs O swinging a hammer?
Just sitting here thinking about it I honestly can say that every single time I've actually and truly needed a ratchet wrench, the ratcheting head has too thick of a sidewall to fit so I end up using a normal box end due to the thinner sidewall.
Wow 6 years old and you are replacing the CV axles, seems odd.
Where did you get the money light neon that's on the wall? I've gotta have one of those ๐
Ive never had to change one of those, I always thought the outer axle seperated from the inner part of the axle at the bracket spot. I thought the inside portion stayed bolted to the car seeing as theres no side to side pressure on it. This is a great instructional video seeing as my new Camry has this on the right front. Thanks O family!
Edit: I just looked at the Toyota axle and it actual bolts into something just after the inner/outer connection point, gotta love those Toyota engineers.
I wonder, you don't need to change seal in transmission if getting new cv axle?
Like my GF use to say to me. If at first you dont succeed…….force it. ๐
Thank you mr O๐
๐
When all else fails call out the professional, a.k.a. Mrs. O
Thanks
You have the talent for taking a normal maintenance task and making it informative and interesting. A revelation. Even a hammer has a hammer side ๐
A wheel bearing from GM, printed on it, MADE IN CHINA, GM said meets GM standards regardless where made.
I'm not the first to say it but where's your ear plugs Eric?
Iโm glad the car manufacturers saved .50 on each tire and put those crappy lugnuts on. Could have done SS for almost the same price.
Customers almost always cheap out too!
A 3/4" or 25/32" socket usually fit those swelled nuts pretty well.
Next guy gets to look like he gave the tin man a handy.
CV axles in this thing? Seems a bit early in its life for that.
Eric, I've been enjoying your videos for a long time, but I'm still in complete denial . How can a beautuful lady like Mrs O been naughty when she was young.
You know a car company has failed when they can't even make lug nuts anymore. I mean 100 years and it's getting worse for more money
love Mrs O
Directions: tippy tap tap
And Mrs. O didnโt break a nail. ๐ ๐ ๐
The reversable offset ratcheting wrenches from Menards are pretty sweet. I think they are master force??? I wanna say 11degree. You have to buy the sae and metric sets apart from each other. They cost more but they are reversible because not straight a offset. I havent had a problem with the everything is built to use a straight wrench now myth.. they seem to be ideal. Good Luck
I bought a set of half size sockets a few years ago, after running out of 19mm and spending 45 minutes pounding lug nuts of of them.
Josh's hammer, aka – big jabroni
Always learnin'! I didn't know you could buy a car with only 4 lug nuts. Replacing them should cost only 80% as much as a car with 5. And that wonky seal….. Crazy! Never saw such a thing! And then, cv axles that get crunchy on such a new car, apparently not preceded by a boot blowing out the grease. I'm accustomed to having them lose a boot at 150k or more. That one axle looked to be much tougher than any I've dealt with, but i just work on my own stuff. I'm below "Novice" level …
I've been trying to line up my BJ for a while now but I haven't had much luck.
This SUV you're working on here Mr. O this is Brazilian Ford and these things are JUNK .
Those refrigerant lines just hang under the car? Like if you hit a rock youโre losing refrigerant?
Should have hit it with my purse lol!
Eric You use the same safety glasses as me ๐. I don't like those chrome lug nut caps especially living in the salt belt. Keep up the good work !
When did it change that we stopped replacing just the CV joint and now we replace the whole thing?
Ford can't even do lug nuts correctly. ๐. Just don't buy a Ford.
When the wife comes in and asks 'Do you wanna do the dipstick now…' Sure sounded like 'code' to me.๐
Here for Mr & Mrs O banter! ๐
I have to thank Eric and Mrs. O for fixing this car as for it is my girlfriend's car. Eric did a great job for us and We won't use any other mechanic
