In this video we knock out the rear lateral link and rear rotors on the back of a 2014 Ford Taurus. The rear lateral link with ball joint is often referred to as toe link or rear tie rod end. -Enjoy!

Light douche,,,,lol. I would love to see the Movie of this. Lol! Thanks for the training. Appreciated
Hey so I am needing so badly to understand how to replace brakes on a 04 Taurus Wagon SE with disc brakes and the stupid cord parking brake(who the hells idea was a freaking cord Parking Brake jeese) But the Calipers are Seized up and well I need help so much help… ill figure it out I guess but you make the best videos so if ya got one that can help me out please please please let me know.
Good job
Great stuff, as usual. Cheers!
My takeaway from the brake pad story is that people can get through half a pad in a year. People drive like animals. I usually get to 100,000 miles on my factory pads. I have been a passenger in the car of a person who I once heard complain that brakes were so expensive, turns out she needed a brake job every 15,000 miles. From my experience in her passenger seat, I can believe it.
Lateral linke torque spec: Nano to "Shave and a hair cut" then add "two bits"
I’ve done the old needle nose trick on the brake caliper.
oops wrong video lmfao great joke.
Wagner did not fix the squiling haha my shop uses them sometimes and Everytime I install a set I cringe because I already no it's coming back 😑
I bought a used 2015 Taurus Limited AWD. Test drive it and I feel the rear end moving when I get on the brakes. Ignorant sales guy says ( They put a new caliper on the right rea and it reacts faster then the others) Being educated I know that makes NO sense but I don't say anything. I buy the car drive it for a few day's until I get time to look at the problem. I jack up the rear end and grab the right rear tire to check for play and sure enough it's the lateral link. Brand new but the so called technician that installed it never tightened the inside bolt, it was just sitting in the hole. So while it was up I check the left side and that link is garbage with lot's of play in it. Replaced it then went straight to get a 4 wheel alignment. Took the bill to the dealer handed it to the owner and told him that was my 5th vehicle I bought from your dealership and the last.
I cant stand watching someone pad slap a vehicle. I always replace or turn the rotors or drums. It makes no sense to just pad slap a vehicle.
I’ve never had a problem with Therma Quiets. I just put some on the front of my wife’s car… If they do start squeeling she’ll never know it as she has the radio so loud you couldnt hear a train whistle just before it hit you…
he forgot the kleen sound
I didn't see nothing wrong here you didn't do the first part and they should have changed the rotors then no biggie and the right tool for the caliper dont always work either I've been using a thinner type plier set with a nose just wide enough for the piston and its gap you did fine Dr O
So sad… I was waiting for the brake clean soundfx… Lol
If only changing the pads is called a "pad slap", did you just do a rotor slap? Asking for a friend.
What brand of brake pads do you use if not wagoner?
wait – wrong video haha just like the classic reach-around
I have a 2010 ford taurus and my rear inner tires are wearing faster than the outer. Can you give me and idea of what is causing this?
Eric, first off. Love the show.
Hey! Ever think about brake parts cleaner anonymous. They really helped me get off the can.🤪
Great job
I have seen one wheel alignment in your videos. To you they are so boring. To me I really wonder how they are done. I know only that you must adjust the "camber", the caster, and the toe. To me this would be just as interesting as this video. I would love to see what nuts you loosen, and so on.
Let me first start by saying this is a great video if you're in mechanic school and would like to learn how to do it with professional tools on a lift… with the exception of course that you can't see anything the guys doing it's just basically a wide shot of a rotor and this dude rambling the entire time
But for the everyday car repair moron like myself who needs YouTube to do a job like this yeah not the greatest video. I can't remember the last time I did a suspension job and was whistling and having such a great old time but I guess I would if I had a lift and air tools to basically do the job for me.
this guy just loves to hear himself talk
What size is that bolt you called nano?
Wagner ThermoQuiet… WIsh this video was posted before I bought some for my beater van in summer 2018. They do freaking squeal mad. Summer 2018 I replaced all rotors and brake pads, as well as did proper rust cleaning, lubricating, etc the SMA way, and the squealing started not too long after. For a beater car, I don't really care too much about the squealing (radio volume up). But I definitely learned my lesson and used different brand brake pads for wife's car this spring.
The 16 thumbs down belong to douchebags who got their wittle feelwings hurt when calling the shop.
Nice review. Not sure how you reformed those pads…they had some raised grooves thats for sure. Can't believe pad makers who have some 5+ versions of OEM comparable pads. I's rather confusing to just about anyone since they never fully describe the difference between them. Seems like ceramic is the way to go and ignore the rest.
I’m new here but I gotta say I’m so happy I found you. I’ve become increasing interested in cars in the past few months and learning as much as I can about them and your videos are like exactly what I need to learn. Super descriptive and ya show exactly what you’re talking about as you talk about it and most importantly you make them fun AND interesting. Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Anyone that would call for advice, knowing that you are trying to run a business, is an idiot…… btw, everything is better is brakekleen!! 🙂
…I WISH CARS WERE STILL MADE from steel instead of plastic…..
I would of done something to mitigate the raised grooves on the pads.
Kitchen sink? I normally just put my rotors in the dishwasher right next to the dinner plates. Throw in an Electrasol Tab with some Jet Dry and they come out perfect!
You should always douche the hell out of it with the good stuff no matter what with proper uga duga specs
They should of turned the rotor when they did the brake job
I did my first brake job on my F250 this weekend and I couldn’t have done it without these videos. I changed calipers, pads, and rotors. Only took about 4 hours, most of which was fumbling around the smaller details of the job. Thank you for the great info Eric, I’m glad to support you on patreon.
Eric, you always say "fellas" but I'm not a fella. 😞
Dont forget to lube up the ol piston face
What do you think about Ford's vehicles and the Fusion in particular on wear and tear of the vehicles?
Comment push 😀
I’m the type of person to change both sides even if one side is still good. And at least turn down the rotors with new pads. Never just pad slap brakes on with old rotors. In the long run, old rotors eat new pads faster. Have a great day Mr. O. Love the videos.
