HARD PASS ON THIS VEHICLE. I’d say please come pick your butchered vehicle up that thing is nothing but a headache and a never ending problem. Not sure who had the truck first but they shouldn’t be allowed to touch tools anymore.
Oh wow what a mess! Sometimes the heads just have to come off to fix broken exhaust manifold bolts, and this is one of those times. Good call on avoiding getting yourself into a situation that you’d likely regret later trying to extract those bolts with the engine in the car.
They could be drilled out then Helicoiled but motor would def have to be out to do that so big job and big expense ! Is the truck worth it ? especially as to get a roadworthy all the rust needs to be repaired as well
Virtually ALL battery packs(& not just for power tools either) just use standard/dime per dozen/off the shelf cells. Its all about those damn proprietary form factors. Its one of the BIGGEST scams of all times. If you're lucky, in the charger itself there could be a trim pot/cap that adjusts the low voltage activate threshold, its unlikely though. Otherwise you'd really have to know what you're doing. But most importantly, ALL rechargeable batteries only have a limited number of charge/discharge cycles, its just the chemistry/physics involved. & since you're not just an occasional user of your power tools, that is probably all you need to know. But at that absurd price I'd try a few things 1st myself too. Perhaps even 3D printing the damn case(compatible) myself, which is ALL you're really paying for. If it wasn't for the lawsuit happy nature of our society, I'm sure people would be doing exactly that as a side biz. Shhhh don't tell China. 🤪
There's a time to plant and a time to plow. Good call Ray.
Kinda how you kick start Milwaukee 18v batteries that won't charge. Just jump one battery to the other for 15 mins, then charge as normal. Works like a charm!
Good call passing on that rabbit hole.
Uh-oh, Metallica is coming for you for using their song without paying for it like they did Napster.
After they f it up to the fullest. Now they want you to fix there manifold… rip to them.. or pay for the professional to doctor that.. an that's you. An people as me
ive fixed these batteries before. theres one dead 18650 cell .. ive put in a used good 18650 cell and all is good for over a year
each cell is 3.7 volts and 4.2 fully charged. there is 4 cells in one pack
Those snap on batteries run both 7v and 14v tools, 4 total 18650 batteries inside, creating two separate 7v circuits, the board in the actual tool is what decides if it's using those batteries as 2s2p for 7v or 2s2s for 14v. Anyways all that to say it's possible to save that battery but is time is limited, the ones I have saved so far usually only stay good for a handful of charge and discharge cycles.
TY,,,,,,WOW incredible very interesting super kool ,1st class great info.,, AAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++ again great video I liked it a lot ,keep up the great work.
I recently took all my snap on batteries to batteries plus near me in York Pennsylvania to have them all replaced with new cells for 100.00 each. Priceless
Don’t short lithium batteries to other batteries directly. You can cause the good battery to fail. If lithium batteries are low voltage there is likely a bad cell or cells. Lithium batteries can pass enough current to fry good cells. Take the pack apart and you will have o replace those bad cells better to just get a new battery pack.
Just sell engine, trans and axle and scrap the truck
I used to live in 'bad' parts of town and never felt scared. It wasn't until I was in the upscale parts of the suburbs that I was scared… of being run over by some soccer mom driving a Ford Explosion when she needed a stepladder to get into the damn thing.
It's getting bad I said click when I closed a zip lock bag
Yeah Ray, that looked a hot mess! If anyone can pull it off, it's you!
You know, if you put those dead batteries in a microwave with a clock and set the clock back and then turn on the microwave, you will go back in time three seconds.
Of course the batteries will explode but that would have happened three seconds after so you should be ok.
I have 23 cordless wrenches and I buy all my batteries from eBay for Ryobi at $17 and DeWALT at $25.
Boy, did Snap-On see you coming!!!
Really disappointed in the design Snap On chose for their batteries. I have had nothing but problems with them since I bought my ratchet. For the amount of money you spend on their stuff, you shouldn't need to do things like this.
GREAT SONG AT EIGHT MINUTES!! WHEN YOU'RE BORED WHILE DRIVING, I HAVE A WAY TO MAKE YOU LAUGH AT OTHER CARS/TRUCKS; NAMELY FORD PRODUCTS. SUBSTITUTE THE WORD "ANAL" FOR THE WORD "FORD" AND LET THE LAUGHTER BEGIN. (EX'S: FORD EXCURSION IS ANAL EXCURSION. FORD MUSTANG IS…) ??
I recommend……. new cylinder heads 😂
They must know Hogan's Goat
Good call on not proceeding… who knows what else would have been wrong inside…
"Mad Scientist Experiment" is my middle name. Thanks for sharing.
JB WELD !
Rainman ray how is your friend doing in the hospital.Hope he's ok and is home now.
gwt a bushing and drill that fits the hole in manifold and drill that fits bushing and drill it easy out it…or use a center drill and start it that way and then drill it…apparnetly the guy tryed drilling it without center drilling it
As someone with Hands-on Lithium recovery experience, please do not connect cells of different charge level in parallel. if you have a deep-discharged cell try to use a current limited power supply (like a good lab power supply) and trickle-charge the bad lithium battery to above the cut-off Voltage of the brand charger.
But even if you succeed, by deep-discharging your lithium battery you will very likely have permanently damaged it. To what extent remains to be seen.
your coworkers appear to have exquisite taste in music.
That happened to my 1994 Chevy K1500 5.7 trying to replace the exhaust manifolds. Ended up pulling the engine out, drilling out 5 broken bolts, heli-coiling 2 holes, replacing front and rear crank seals, all of the freeze plugs, replacing heater connection and cutting the bad connections off the oil cooler lines and doing the flare fix on them and now my 220,000 mile engine doesn't leak or burn oil or leak coolant. Runs like a champ…now waiting for it to blow up…ha ha…
FINALLY GREAT MUSIC IN A VIDEO!!! Oh whoops…
Boat anchor ⚓
Ray, if those are LIPO batteries, they have electronics in the battery that monitor the cells, & if those electronics decide the battery is dead, it won't let it be charged, even if you replace the dead cells. As I found from swapping out dead cells in one of my laptop batteries.
Well it's not can it be fixed but it's not a job that's easy and that can be done with it assembled. Those are sometimes the realities that are faced when fixing up an old tuna boat.
Oh ya, you are playing Enter the sandman from Metallica.
Lithium don't play nice with such salvage attempts. You have about an hour from an undervoltage conditions to revive it before internal plates corrode. Even then, they are damaged.
These things burst into flame when abused
I will say a V10 doesn’t sound as good as a V8 in my opinion.
Looks like someone wanted a Real Mechanic to fix what they F*cked up.
Good Executive decision Ray.👍👍
Pops the hood. Whoa that's allot of daylight! Yep shits missing

This was a test to Ray's patiance.. I would have suggested to take the truck to a machine shop. I have acually taken out studs like that using carbide drills and repaired threads with heli coils. At this point I would have suggested the same thing, heads out and to machine shop.
Used to be able to rebuild my DeWalt batteries for less than a new one, with the batteries as high tech now I'm not sure it's possible. Nice attempt tho darn things aren't cheep by no means.🤘🤘
Why would you install an engine with broken off bolts in the heads ?
How to install a HP leak
Ray, good call on that Ford Exhaust ! Your buying trouble once you start ! 👍
Pull the heads. It's a Ford V-10 thing I'm told
Lol at least they didn't break off a easy out in there too.
Ray, I know about it……………. SEND IT BACK TO THE GATES Of HADES WHERE SHE CAME!
We had a cat thief hit our lot one time. They're not too smart. They stole a muffler off a 14ft truck with a 454 and a resonance chamber off one of the v10 17 foot trucks. I can only imagine how angry he was trying ro sell it. The camera fails to capture how loud this thing actually is 😅
We all want your battery reconditioning to work, but we all also are 99% sure you are fked.
Since that's a 14.4v battery, charging it on the 7.2v side may have unbalanced it.
There is no such thing as too much fun 😆😆
I've tried tricking a battery that discharged past its recharge threshold. Didn't work even when I told the battery, "but I saw it work on the inner webs."
Always a hoot to watch!
Definitely a good call in the Excursion! That would have pointed the finger right at you!
Though I do hope ya explained to the customer what does need to be done… Probably cheaper just to get a new crate engine from Ford!
Edit: now that I thought about it, I have to wonder if there are battery hacks out there so you can revive/rebuild those packs, I remember seeing it done for Ryobi and a slew of Dyson vacuums.
it probably has a bad cell and cannot charge properly. some of those pins are probably for balancing.
Man the diesel excursions were awesome
Are you the owner of that shop? if so damn… that would be the coolest garage i know and probably the coolest owner too!
Enter the Sandman!
Unfortunately, whoever attempted to remove those studs didn't stop when they got in over their head. I'm glad you made that "executive" decision Ray. I agree wholeheartedly on that one.
Ray, its likely the bms is in the charger and that the charger wants to see the voltages for all the battery cells before charging. Web search for linking bms for a wiring diagram. Also a dead cell is likely
Lost in never never land….I have done that with a regular current limited variable power supply. To get the voltage up enough for a charger to work with it. The battery did not last much longer before it died real good.
Another ghetto vehicle.
If you manage to get hit by this truck you must be deaf 🤣🤣🤣🤣
There is a trick for drilling out below surface broken studs that's perfect for this situation. You need a self-centering bit guide made for drilling door hinge screw holes in doors. Replace the wood cutting drill bit with a good metal cutting bit. The guide will hold the bit in place (centered) as you drill – preventing damage to the tapped hole.
i remove them ALL the time after every one else has given up . and i don't pull the engine or the cyl. head
Thanks for the video, always enjoy watching!
On the battery,..If the voltage is to low, the built in circuit will not charge them..Lithium if go below 3v will not charge in most cases… The range is 4.2 to 3volts per cell..To odds are one cell is below that threshold..
The other + and – could be for the balancing of the cells. You are better off using a Bench Top Powersupply to try and charge them… Now there is a little trick you can do with a car battery…but you could them kill it..but if it is dead and going to toss it..try it.. Search – How To Restore A Dead Drill Battery or Resetting lithium battery pack
looks like the AvE alum bolt removal technique may help with this. Not a bulletproof solution but could help
I don't know about y'all's snap on guy. But mine will warranty a battery if it's bad. We warranty out broken and messed up tools all the time on the truck.
Excursion FUBAR the ol’ shade tree mechanic bit off more then he could chew
The best way to fix bad battery is with 12 gauge shotgun, course same will fix bad Ford to ……
Get some manifold drill guide kits. Makes a perfect jig.
How many vehicles now and no repair? It’s like you’re the Pittsburgh pirate’s!
Hey Ray, who is this Maria Russo who keeps asking people how they are in the comments. Is this another scam? Addresses a person who leaves a comment by their name saying Hi Jack John etc. How are you doing? Very odd.
Be careful trying to recover an over-discharged Lithium battery… they sometimes just randomly burst into flame during the recovery on in a later charge.
Better take it to Eric o.
I wanna see it come on bro
I think the owner was trying to put the screws to you on the exhaust manifold bolts, they messed it up and then said "here you fix this" is a bunch of Bullchit ——— I wouldn't touch that without pulling the engine out.
There's your problem lady, somebody stole your exhaust manifolds!
Do the customer a favor and drive that thing into a lake.
Having taken out tens of thousands of 'stuck' bolts, those are savable, but access might be an issue. I used dental burrs and patience to GRIND a hole down the center and then step it up a bit with a drill bit so I can get an easy-out on it. Heating up the aluminum block from the side and then they usually pop out, especially after a few hammer blows. Probably 90% effective. The other times you'll have to drill the fastener out now that you've got a centered hole. I've had a few over the years where you just have to dental bur the living daylights out of the fastener.
just close the hood and back it out lol.
unbelievable all the comments saying this was a good call on not accepting the job on the FORD V-10. Disagree!! For F'n sake you are making a video out of it…how can the owner come back and say you messed things up. I'm thinking Ray got cold feet…and needed the afternoon to warm up. Lol
Maybe I need to get a real mechanic to look at this🥸 That’s where they get you, them damn batteries! I know you can get that battery apart, it’s killing you , because you want to so bad LOL!
When you're dealing with a battery like that you can bring them back by trickle charging them. Like have such a low current it'd take a 10x longer to charge than normal. It is also more energy efficient.
Don't the tool bandits warranty stuff like that for you?
I have rescued many batteries by connecting to a 2 amp car charger for between 10 seconds and 60 seconds. Definitely match the positives and negatives correctly and completely. Works on RC and garden equipment batteries.
This rust bucket and piece of big junk. Looks like (my opinion) that who ever owns this bucket, brought it in so you can do your videoing and try to find out what their problem is. It's a joke! Who in their right mind would try to repair this old clunker? Things are missing underneath and in the engine. Come on Ray, don't get duped!
Consider it a punishment for your unacceptable Infinity connector job.
Cool dood
Man broke the bolts and side I'm out homie
Stole the catalytic converter and the rest fell off?
aaand Metallica lawyers petition youtube to take this video down in 3..2..1 lol hope not Ray!
What was the mileage again?
Or were you forgotten by the engine sound without exhaust 🤣🤣🤣
190960 mi 😄👊👍
Eric O would not have given up on those studs…even has a video on it
Satanic numbers with sellout black album in the background!!!! 😁 🇺🇸
Weak dead batteries need the electrons re-aligned.
Good call on the damaged V10. Home mechanic made the situation worse.
Ray they always give you the easiest ah,,,jajaja, those fasteners are a pain you know where, good lock men!!!!
