Let's take a look at this Mercury grand Marquis that came in with a customer complaint of "no window washers." It is a quick diagnosis with a wiring diagram and the parts are on the way!

What is the name of the tool you use to puncture the cable and to check the power? I need to buy one. Thank you. Have a nice day. Walter.
I just bought a Crown Vic that only has fast wipers and when I look at my Mitchell software they show a control module in the dash. I guess another bad wiring diagram.
Well done video. Straight forward no BS… new subscriber.
Which fuse # disables the wipers on a p71? Anyone know? I have the “random wipers” issue but cant find a decent schematic to help me
I am a new subscriber and I love your show! Keep up the great work!
"There's your problem; it's an over-computerized American car!" And for people who fix Tauruses (at least 2001's), if you ever get a code for ECM keep-alive power after having a/c compressor issues, check the a/c fuse in the underhood fuse block. The Ford genuises ran the keep-alive off that fuse! Big Kudos to Mr. O and SMA for sharing so much knowledge that I wish I had a garage to work in, just to take things apart and put them back together again!
Hey I watch your videos all the time I need your opinion 2006 Grand Marquis driver side carpet water keep coming in stay wet all the time?
So was the wiper motor the fix? I have an 06 LX Sport Vic and mine came on on their own, washer fluid as well. Also the wipers only work on one setting. I changed the multi function switch and still has same discrepancy.
That the same vic that came in with the fuse that started it…? Looks like any way I have a 2008 in white police interceptor with 130xxx love it
That's how she sees the family. Mom's the boss (Big Fish) in the family pond and Eric's out there at the surface having lunch❗
Best line of the whole video, "I'm certainly not going to put an A1 Cardone motor in it since I don't want to have to do that repair 5 or 6 times!" Eric O. makes me laugh so hard when he talks about Dorman and A1 Cardone being complete junk. How many steering racks did you have to put in that one time till you finally got a good one??? 7 or 8? OEM baby. OEM!
I guess basically the Lincoln Town car2001 has the same type of wiper circuit, if so let me know if possible. not a big deal if you can't. Thank you anyways for this information.
My washer pump comes on with the headlights 😖😖😖 any fix for that?????
The wiper motor gets flooded due to the cowl holding water… Drill extra holes in the plastic to let the water escape..
So, I guess if the turbos ever go south on my 3.5 f150 ecoboost, i should NOT buy cardone reman units? believe it or not, they do list them…reman exchange.
That's an old issue with CV/GM's – called Wacky Wiper syndrome. As you found out in another video, the board gets screwed up somehow and it then it starts working randomly.
Best in-depth videos on You Tube
How often do you guys think Eric shaves his armpits? Once a month? Twice?
Eric, totally random question, but somewhat related, have you had any experience with widsdshield washer fluid heaters, such as the old ones manufactured by Hotshot, now manufactured under the name AlphaTherm? I'm just curious if they actually help in the winters you experience there.
My 2007 Ford Edge SEL was totaled last month and I almost bought me a Grand Marquis but, ended up getting a 2010 Ford Explorer 4X4 V8 XLT.
Where does a guy find a decent incandescent test light these days? All I can find anymore is the led type.
Got my SMA sticker, looks nice on my toolbox!
You hit 100,000 subscribers. Congratulations, Eric!
congrats on the 100k subs
Ford's not so better idea!
Great Video!
I just (1 month ago) replace Wiper Control Module in my mom's 2009 Grand Marquis for same/similar reasons. In this case wipers came on by themselves, then to make maters worse….the washer pump came on-line and squirted my square in the face while checking.
First thought was multi-function switch on column, but after many you-tube videos (like yours) chased down the wiper control module.
Thanks for the videos as I learn a lot from you and other youtubers willing to share their time and experience.
P
Thanks for the video. I'm having the same problem with my 04 Saturn Vue. I like your TS , trouble shoot, style.
Nice light stick. Have it in your Amazon store?
Thanks for bring us along. Say hi to mrs.O from all the viewers. Also a BIG thumbs up to Trinity.
Congratulations on reaching 100k. That is a well deserved number. Here's to 100k more.
aka, scope on a rope
cardone junk
Great Job Eric where did you get your test light I would like to get a bigger one like that. Thanks
Marquis is your brother…..
Ok, Guys i have a set of noid lights that i use to check circuit integrity. You would be surprised those noid lights fit a lot of 2 wire connectors. Am I in the wrong here, it sure saves time vs using a test light and going from power to ground and vise versa.
probably just the solder joints on the board connector fractured, if it was mine I'd take it apart, clean and re-solder 🙂
downside, not all can have just the circuit board removed easily.
in my opinion that is a good car and i do no like american cars i like toyota and my new v8 genesis lot of miles left used or new no crappy parts
Back in my day, we just hooked it to the horn button,so everytime you honked, you got the windows washed. I am just kidding but hey, sounds like fun!
Dorman Wiper motor: Fits perfectly, no problems, no soldering required, no angle grinder, nice connector. Then it runs slow as a snail. turns out it runs on 24V. Easy fix is buy and wire a second battery, change half of wiring of the car …. or even better … sell the car and buy a RV, Bus or big truck that runs 24V power and install it there. Edit: People will complain anyways …
44 now 🙂
45 subscribers to Eric woohoo
Okay, waiting to see the fix. Thanks!
I love those old big Fords. Last of the full size real wheel drive American cars.
Years ago I helped my wife's uncle sell a bunch of those Ford wiper motors on Ebay for his business. They went for under $30 each. He got them for $2 or $3 each at auction as they were leftovers that the factory didn't use.
50 more subs, and you got the big 100k!!
Hate it when the Pixies won't dance
Hey, Scotty Kilmer just got 200 million views! What do ya know about that?
Yup. Just as Nutz4Gunz45 predicts- I'd also say the motor/logic board is soaked. Leaf brine is very high pH (alkaline) and electrically conductive (mV & mA).
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for reminding me to change my washer fluid today in the big truck. The old crappy freightshitter runs washer fluid from under the bunk outside under the floor up to the firewall. Anything near 32° it freezes. Need to use the -30 stuff plus add alcohol. Feels like temp in the teens last night, watching snow come down now up here in the big cheese
