This job ended up turning into the opposite of what I expected and it cost me more than I made. Sometimes this is the way, I did what I had to do to get through it.

You gave me some good info on puting antiseize on plugs

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars cowthedestroyer says:

I couldn't imagine taking my truck to a shop and not giving my own parts and some consumables to do the job.
1 I don't trust other people to buy good parts
2 you indicate that you want said consumable used during the job to have it done right.
3 if I was a mechanic I think it would be pretty cash money for someone to care enough to do that.

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ken says:

Only half way through, and what a freakin nightmare of a job to do the plugs. I'd nuke the whole thing from orbit.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ismael Carrero Jr says:

Good call on the impact gun to remove the spark plugs, it's the logic behind it the vibration or impact cause on the spark plugs to loosening up👍.

Triton series is the worst Ford motors ever to work on

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard Morse says:

I like the idea but I can see Dealers, repair shops and mechanics fighting this as there are a lot of procedures they don’t want the customer to see especially if it includes the audio. They will argue it will add to the cost and that will be passed on to the customer.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hola! Dimwitt Flathead says:

You know you are supposed to disconnect the ground terminal first not the hot as you did in this car. The theory is one of the terminals may hit the ground while the capacitors are still charged and may blow the electronic device. Removing ground first and replacing it last solves this problem. It doesn't matter if it's negative ground or positive ground, just disconnect ground first and if it hits the body of the car or other metal parts, no damage because it's already connected to that.

I don't believe the validity or honesty of your video. You used anti-seize without you and the truck getting covered in it!

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paul says:

I replace my own plugs on my 06 triton 5.4. I break them just loose an 8th turn max. Then fill the holes with pb blaster. Then let it set for a few hours. Never broke one. I know techs don't have that much time, but if you do…

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars First SGT Strickland says:

Lol, I see you w/ at least 3 different batteries, guessing you keep a charging station? How many different chargers?
    I have Dewalt.
    Dewalt SUCKS!
I've said this to the sales folk as well while handing over my cash. In the early 90ties I was given a 5 pack set and been stuck with them ever since. Don't get me wrong, the tools aren't bad but the proprietary battery deal just makes it tough for me. As a carpenter I move around alot so having just one charger is almost a necessity. How many times I've used someone else's battery toys on the job and thought that a tool was particularly good but,,, it was Makita or Milwaukee or any other brand but Dewalt…. damn!

Taking about anti seizure compounds that’s what I miss about living in az and like you in Florida you can do that in Michigan like every thing needs it because of all the snow and salt

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steve Cobratei says:

Oh, been an Automotive tech since before the ASE

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steve Cobratei says:

I bring the car back to the same place this time they fill it for a leaking power steering rack and 1 bad wiper blade but I saw him rip it he's looking the ends of the blade, flicking it with his finger they should just picking up and look.
Anyway I look at the rack which was clean when I left home, but now its dripping orange oil. Smells like penetrating fluid.
I said thank you, left, took it to another station after stopping to get a can of brake clean to hose off the orange stuff and a new wiper. Car passed emissions and safety with a note that the rear brake were GETTING low. Nice touch as far as I'm concerned

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steve Cobratei says:

    Passes here in Virginia.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steve Cobratei says:

Want to laugh, My wife brought my 1998 SVT Cobra in for emissions and safety inspection. I had just gotten done doing front brakes and checked bumper to bumper. Including license plate lights…
They failed it for 1 license plate bulb and rear brakes. She bring the car home and of course lays into me. " why did you send me down there if the car was not going to pass?"
The pads was thin, but they were about half worn(more than 1/8"

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars D3M0ify says:

    Another bad engineered ford!!

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Markomyt1 says:

    You are SO LUCKY!
When I did the plugs on my 2006 F150 with the 5.4L I had 6 of the 8 plugs break.
I have to say, I got really good at extracting what was left behind.
I also did cam phasers, timing chains, Melling oil pump and rollers myself.
Purrs like a kitten now with 190,000 miles.

I'm a retired mechanic I love your work you do a great job and you're honest keep up the good work

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Sparks says:

AFTER REMOVING HIS PARTS…WHERE DO THEY GO…SPACE IS PREMIUM IN A REPAIR FACILITY…BAD POLICY TO DO JOBS THIS WAY…JUST SAYING FROM EXPERIENCE…& 90% OF THE TIME…IT COMES BACK W/COMPLAINTS…NOT WORTH IT…

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Sparks says:

THIS IS WHY MOST AUTO REPAIR SHOPS DO N O T TAKE JOBS WHERE THE CUSTOMER SUPPLIES HIS OWN PARTS…#1 AFTER TEAR DOWN…THAT STALL IS PLUGGED UP WITH CUSTOMERS CRAP…#2 PARTS PAY FOR THE OVERHEAD…ELECTRICITY, GAS, COST OF BULBS, TOILET SEATS & VEHICLE LIFTS,…etc etc…

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paul Codling says:

In other words having the mechanic/shop present customers with the old parts that have been replaced

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paul Codling says:

I love what you do. Perhaps customers should insist on keeping their old parts eg plugs when having work done.

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars brian watkins says:

you like showing us your dangly bits, but what tops it for us is when you use that brake clean spray SHINY😄 YOU DO A MUCH BETTERER JOB THAN A LOT OF MECHANICAL TECHNICIANS WELL DONE

  50. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gary Servedio says:

Like your vids, but the only thing I don't like is that you never put fender covers on the vehicles to protect painted surfaces.
