In this video we help out Hannah as she was left stranded when her 2007 Chevrolet Malibu 2.2 that would crank, but not start. This has happened to her 3 times but unfortunately she has always been out of town when this happened. Finally it died at home and I was able to track it down for her. We tracked it down fast so stick around for the repair! -Enjoy

Malibu cars carry more intelligent and beautiful women.
    I had a 1968 and I can tell you.
    But I won't.
Your car there has a good name.
Good choice in mechanic help, Hannah, you're lucky to have him.

Similar GM car I had was found with weak parts and connections in fuel pump circuit.
The first fuel filter killed the first pump.
    And the second did same.
    Every 60K.
I know because I wrote on it with a felt pen.
No matter who owned it, they didn't get the filter replaced and the new pump each time was over $300.
The circuit heats up as the pump tries to grind to a halt with "sulfur content of fuel"
Now it has longer battery bolts, a new wiring loom back by the tank, and another new pump and filter.
Watch out if you're a front prober diagnoser because when it's freezing cold, your connector fit will be the next thing to fail under stress.
Be sure you don't have socks on a rooster connecting pins.
That's my attempt at helping input. These aren't that bad a car.
It just needs what it needs to prevent stressing or causing more resistance.
Like filters every 15K !?! Big surprise.

I think the way you just promoted the Power Pro was the best way to promote a product on YouTube, Sponsors that we don't see the YouTuber employing in their job come across as unauthentic and devalue the channel.

I was laughing really hard when you said people watched a 2hr video of you soldering wires and you were concerned. Not sure about other people but I like to put on your videos while I'm working. As DWC below said, yes it is relaxing. I love the troubleshooting, great videos keep the content coming, thanks.

Love the vids. And this reminds me to always mention to everyone the golden rule: When you gotta say โ€œsoldierโ€, you say โ€œsoldierโ€. But when you gotta say solder, you say SAHDDAH !!

Hey, great channel. I'm a new viewer and a recently retired 30 year A&P tech (vet & contractor) for the USAF at Edwards AFB, Ca – yeah, aircraft stuff. Specialty is avionics, instrumentation and power management systems. You mentioned having trouble with proper crimp applications. Give DMC Tool a try for weird wire stuff. They make tools for just about any wire assembly application. A little $$ heavy but no worse than SnapOn. Oh, y'all are in snow country. Bad environment for wires and connections. Silicon spray helps a ton.

Everyone (including myself) hates having to diagnose an electrical issue

None of us, on the other hand, can deny the fact that we feel like gods when we solve said electrical problem

loved my 2007, never any problems except replace brakes and suspension, decommissioned her at 195,000 miles for newer cars, almost no rust. wish my 2012 was as good (don't buy 2008- 2012 generation) harder to work, take off bumper to replace headlight bulb, $250 done by a shop

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dean Kay says:

I enjoyed the diagnostic journey completely. You started with some excellent info to start. I have heard people ask, "Why do you ask all the questions?" My favorite is when the husband drops off the wife's car and has no idea when, what, where, or temp. I have called the driver to probe for additional info.
As a retired ASE Master tech who started in the 70's, you left little to be desired for the hard work good techs face every day. With the cavities melted some in the connector segment, just changing the terminal would not last. If I go to the bone yard, I make a point of taking side cutters to grab extra terminals and perhaps a popular connector. Folks who don't work on vehicles just believe the tools & box belong to the company or dealer. They don't. Soldering is "Best Practice" and shrink tubing to me is so important that I have a 3M roll of 3/16" on a 50-foot reel. You are right about some who throw a fit when they see smoke and you are not inside a "Hazmat Suit" being feed external HEPA filtered air, when it's just the rosin in electrical solder melting, not lead. Of course, a cigar, burning leaves or a Colorado high is ok! For a tech tip, a dap or black weatherstrip adhesive holds the cut end of electrical tape when wrapping but it's not seen here. I am a firm believer in dielectric grease and have 6 tubes of the $5 stuff everywhere. Few would use a lab scope and fused jumper wire to test a running fuel pumps wave form. As you pointed out, folks need to know, this allows you to see the electrical activity in the component and tells you about its health in waveform as the brushes slide from commutator plate to the next and the amps. I have seen hundreds ask in comments what the amperage should be? Well, test a lot of them and you will develop a sense for the correct reading. Too high, filter plugged, too low, the pumps worn, and the pattern will not be smooth. People ask to check the vehicle for trips, look at the brakes and stuff. Dude, you use the brakes 3 times more driving to work each week than an 800-mile trip to grandma's house…scope the fuel pump! Great job Eric.

You simply gotta trim your narrative. Your "jibber-jabber" is ridiculous. These videos, though informative, IS like listening to paint dry. Watch a few videos by Rainman Ray's Repairs or Customer States What .

And, these crimps can be done with a MOLEX crimping tool. I do them all the time….and use MOLEX connections.

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Denton says:

For what it's worth I think your soldering is fine, having made hundreds of connections in very expensive medical equipment, and for heat shrink we used the upper part, not the tip of our soldering irons, it took too much time when doing 60- 100 connections to put down iron and pick up heat gun, put heat gun down and pick iron up again for next connection.๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Ž
