In this video I bring you along as I have a look at a 2012 Ram 2500 with a few EVAP codes (P0456 and P0457) and the constant flashing of the "check fuel cap." Of course the customer has replaced the fuel filler cap and now it is up to us to figure out what is really wrong.

I am surprise that at least you can read the Data from the computer. now you need a subscription to read the propietary codes to fix a Fiat Chryler automobile.
A dodge having high failure prone parts? What are these false accusations.. how dare you speak this blasphemy
Just FYI the unit of pressure unit PA doesn't stand for Pensylvania but PASCAL, the family name of the scientific who discovered/developped this system of measure.
Those switches are the dumbest tech. Just so simple I hate them and they're 90% plastic. Could probably build a better one out of household components… Even though they are only $20 to $30 that is still more expensive then they should be. The purge valve is more complicated and it is less expensive then these stupid overengineered pressure switches…
You like making out with Chrysler's lol
On the 73 pa — there should be a button there to change it to PSI — or change it between metric and standard.
When it comes to wiring problems. you're like one–a them thar bloodhounds.
So you're saying that on a Chrysler product, if you suck on a vacuum or evap hose, it will suck back? 🙂
Fluid Film. Oh yeah!
oh my god – I am dying with the Pennsylvanias – that's just too funny (I usually deal with Mega Pennsylvanias and Giga Pennsylvanias)😄
Your wife is going to get jealous seeing you kiss and suck those vacuum lines. LMAO
Dag gone good mechanic here folks.
I have a ram.The company attitude seems to be "Well that barely qualifies, how can we slice a few more cents off of it." They are OK as occasional use vehicles after they are seven years old, but may the gods show you kindness even if you have a technical background if your living depends on them.
now I have to try and use 'back probe' on my next Zoom call and see if anyone notices. Looking forward to part 2…
Eric, nice work. Your brain follows the pathways which few of us see as clearly, if at all. Your explanation of the systems makes perfect sense, until someone like me takes off on that trail. Then you get the perfect picture of "a cow lookin' at a new gate", that would be me, temporarily.😂
Go Eric!
Eric's arms are ripped
I bet you can't get that puckermatic 3000 from Snap-On.
Why is part II a private video Eric O?
IMO the top 3 car guys are Eric O, Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics and Rainman Ray
I "had" a two year old, 2014, Chrysler 200, it had the same light on. Only the expensive Chrysler gas cap would turn off the light. That was the first of several, simple items where parts cost way more than they should have. Did I mention I had it with this car? So, this will be my last Chrysler product, ever!
Arnt rams their own maker? For about 10-15 years now I thought 🤔
Awesome…move to Tampa bay..we need you you here…
You would think that a whole state would apply more pressure than it does. Apparently a Pennsylvania is a pretty small unit of pressure. It's those damn deceptive Yankees.
101325 Pa, pascal or Pennsylvania or 101.325 kpa is 1 atmosphere or 1 bar atmospheric pressure at sea-level. Just saying.
The politically correct crowd is out in force on this repair.
Avoca smoka time!
Multiple parts, step by step!
They got the right guy on this vehicle.
Wooo!!! Go Eric!!!
Pa = Pascal. 1 Pascal = the force of 1 Newton over 1 square meter. Pretty low force. 10,000 Pa = 1.45 psi, thus it's more common to use hectopascals (100pa) or kilopascals (1000pa).
So for our friends who live and drive in the rust belt, which is worse mag-chloride or sodium chloride? 🧐
2012? Check fuel cap? My bet is on the leak detection pump and the janky little arm in there.
Can't say it enough. Education and entertainment done by an ethical caring modest professional. Thanks Mr. O for the videos and thanks to Mrs. O for tolerating all the time spent on giving us these videos. Well done!
…she sucked and blew…then we fixed the tire. Does wind suck or blow? Is a vacuum also a pressure pump?
You make it sound so easy.
Another great video can't wait for part 2 thanks
WOW, a Dodge that the dash hasn't crumbled to dust!🤣🤣
Pa stands for Pascals. 1 atmosphere is 101300 Pa. The weather channel would report this as 101.3 KPa.
The garbage 5.7 engine but then again its Chrysler junk
God, I wish there was just one guy in Amarillo like Eric O. These sorry bastardized here just throw parts at it to up their commission pay on parts. Toyota is the champ at this.
Evap you got to love lol not my 08 Silverado had evap code after running the air Nozzle on Canister all good years later
It has a high failure rate.
Which part?
The whole truck!
Just a heads up, on chrylers with the wiitech you can go under misc. functions and do a small evap leak test. It's an automated test that's helpful to point you in the proper direction.
America don’t care about you why buy there 💩?
Better than the worst computer screen BSOD (for those not in the know Blue Screen of Death computer is f***ed) .
The anticipation! Thanks for the video very well done👍👏
Self ejecting green crusty… Never heard of green crusties before subbing to SMA & Eric O
this was a good reminder to never forget the potential of the DREADED green PUSS … all the discovery of said … needed here was a sound affect … any ideas on that ?
I'm sticking around for part II of this adventure !!!!!! Don't want to wait a week, now !!!!! Chop chop !!!!!
its the Limited "duct" edition. (tape not included)
Eric, Pa – the unit, named after Blaise Pascal, is defined as one newton per square metre. In you case it is 73 Pa for the fuel tank pressure. But I am sore you new that. No pressure!
Of course, new doesn't mean good.
DiElectic for electrical connections maybe help with the corrosion from road chemicals?
I am enjoying all the new content. Thank you !!!!!
Buttery smooth assessment! And educational every step of the way! Thanks Eric!
You kiss your wife and kids with that mouth?! 😛
NOOOOO! Not a two parter on a Saturday night! We are the microwave generation, we want what we want when we want it; now.😂 Oh well, guess it’ll give us something to look forward to next week. But that gas cap sure looked hinky
Pa stands for the metric pressure system using Pascales. 1 Pascal is equal to 0.000145038 PSI. For a quick conversion to PSI divide the Pascales by value by 6895. 73/6895 = .0106 PSI.
I'm gonna say what we are all thinking.. the guy (or girl) with the air ratchet needs to go electric
Dodge's are dodgy, chevy for the win.
Buddy bought one and luckily got the extended warranty, $30,000 in work within a year and a half of factory warranty expiring.
Dang Skippy I love it cannot believe it on a cruise and on that connection it is supposed to be weather tight that is unreal
JEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPP
What size r the t shirts. Thanks
I guess we have to wait for part 2 because you haven't fixed it yet 🙃
The last couple of videos I trouble hearing Eric when he is talking, I have to really crank up tv volume to hear what you are saying. Other videos sound is normal. Thanks for another great diag Mr.O!!
when he said he replaced the fuel cap …. he didn't say it was new …… by any chance
Had the same issue with my 2016 ram 2500 turns out one of them roll over valve fittings were cracked
8000+ additional subscribers just like that! Congratulations! I'm just under 200. Working to get the magical 1000 subscribers!
Part 11 is labeled as not available, private
Chrysler and Dodge should have offered a built in on board smoke machine for these crappy evap systems … and give you a supply of extra hoses, purge valves, connectors and fittings considering the high failure rate …the amount of money and time spent on them since inception is criminal
Thank you Eric for a great informative video. Appreciate it
Looking forward to the next one
2009-2018 Chrysler came standard with the evap CEL glowing after 50k😂
Pressure Atmospheric?
I've been doing this for 45 years and I have to wonder>
If we took all of the money the OEM's and consumers have spent on auto emissions systems since 1978, and used that money on cleaning up industrial pollution, such as coal fired power plants, did the money get spent wisely?
An honest question!
Eric, your ability to get to the root cause of electrical issues is second to none. You’re too humble to admit it so I’ll state it for you. If only there were Eric O’s all over, the public wouldn’t be firing the expensive parts cannon often.
Give it a smoke test & be done with it, easy fix 😎
These systems always seem to be a little more complex than I expect. I wish service data was a little more explicit regarding how each of the valves work. Even the pressure of a smoke machine can close valves that you may expect to be open.
Did you do sucky sucky or blowy blowy. Need to know since this is a very technical scenario. Oh and thanks again for the Super Troopers references.
the one day mrs O is gone eric is making out with a dodge
And I looked at the SMA merch to get a tshirt but no pockets.
What do you call a tshirt with no pocket?…..
A rag – Eric O.
I had a stuck open purge reading -300Pa. I thought that was major. turns out -300pa is about .08 inHg
If ya look on your tire pressure gauge there’s psi in Freedom Units and kpa in metric.
KiloPascals.
I'am waiting for your first electric car repair video.
Hotmail???🤣 Is that still around?
I really hate dodge EVAP systems
PA would be Pascals, and SI unit for pressure, equivalent to 0.000145 PSI.
I think it’s the gas cap.
Yes you are a blow hard good job keep it up I learn so much from you thanks 🙏
Kept getting “check/tighten gas cap” after having mechanic do some gen maintenance, found that he spilled some BG-44k on surface that cap mounts to. After cleaning it and cap really well things are all good again. Enjoy your vids, 👍👍
Even a sat night video? Awesome!
Non stock bed there. I'd take a good look at the filler neck and fueling vent line. She might be a bit hacked….
Just Awesome! Thanks.
Eric,
Great video and diag/explanation – thank you!
Paul (in MA)
Eric O' Does this mean it now the house that GM and Ram built ? (eye no waiting on Ford F class) 😬
Sweet, just poured a bourbon.
Chrysler dodge Leakey EvaP yeap Green Crusty's dropped for Sure that's another Yeap!!!; )
Pa is the humble Pascal unit. 30 psi is roughly 100 kPa or kilopascals
Pa is pascals, 73 of them would be like 0.01psi roughly
