In this video I bring you along as I have a look at a 2012 Ram 2500 with a few EVAP codes (P0456 and P0457) and the constant flashing of the "check fuel cap." Of course the customer has replaced the fuel filler cap and now it is up to us to figure out what is really wrong.
-Enjoy!

I am surprise that at least you can read the Data from the computer. now you need a subscription to read the propietary codes to fix a Fiat Chryler automobile.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars calholli says:

A dodge having high failure prone parts? What are these false accusations.. how dare you speak this blasphemy

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TruckNewDriver says:

Just FYI the unit of pressure unit PA doesn't stand for Pensylvania but PASCAL, the family name of the scientific who discovered/developped this system of measure.

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 10100rsn says:

Those switches are the dumbest tech. Just so simple I hate them and they're 90% plastic. Could probably build a better one out of household components… Even though they are only $20 to $30 that is still more expensive then they should be. The purge valve is more complicated and it is less expensive then these stupid overengineered pressure switches…

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard Harbin says:

You like making out with Chrysler's lol

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars calholli says:

On the 73 pa — there should be a button there to change it to PSI — or change it between metric and standard.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Lucky Baldwin says:

When it comes to wiring problems. you're like one–a them thar bloodhounds.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brian Lightfoot says:

So you're saying that on a Chrysler product, if you suck on a vacuum or evap hose, it will suck back? 🙂

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars NoFrillsVideo says:

    Fluid Film. Oh yeah!

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars DrD says:

oh my god – I am dying with the Pennsylvanias – that's just too funny (I usually deal with Mega Pennsylvanias and Giga Pennsylvanias)😄

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Buchanan Sleeve says:

Your wife is going to get jealous seeing you kiss and suck those vacuum lines. LMAO

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars JC says:

Dag gone good mechanic here folks.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Xombi Xombi says:

I have a ram.The company attitude seems to be "Well that barely qualifies, how can we slice a few more cents off of it." They are OK as occasional use vehicles after they are seven years old, but may the gods show you kindness even if you have a technical background if your living depends on them.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ted Schmaltz says:

now I have to try and use 'back probe' on my next Zoom call and see if anyone notices. Looking forward to part 2…

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars murphymb says:

Eric, nice work. Your brain follows the pathways which few of us see as clearly, if at all. Your explanation of the systems makes perfect sense, until someone like me takes off on that trail. Then you get the perfect picture of "a cow lookin' at a new gate", that would be me, temporarily.😂

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mcoakes says:

    Go Eric!

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ADHD PRojects says:

    Eric's arms are ripped

I bet you can't get that puckermatic 3000 from Snap-On.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joel Herrmann says:

Why is part II a private video Eric O?

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars The98deville says:

IMO the top 3 car guys are Eric O, Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics and Rainman Ray

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ron Wade says:

I "had" a two year old, 2014, Chrysler 200, it had the same light on. Only the expensive Chrysler gas cap would turn off the light. That was the first of several, simple items where parts cost way more than they should have. Did I mention I had it with this car? So, this will be my last Chrysler product, ever!

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars George says:

Arnt rams their own maker? For about 10-15 years now I thought 🤔

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars bugdog9 says:

Awesome…move to Tampa bay..we need you you here…

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars WisdomVendor1 says:

You would think that a whole state would apply more pressure than it does. Apparently a Pennsylvania is a pretty small unit of pressure. It's those damn deceptive Yankees.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Comfort Zone says:

101325 Pa, pascal or Pennsylvania or 101.325 kpa is 1 atmosphere or 1 bar atmospheric pressure at sea-level. Just saying.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ronald Johnson says:

The politically correct crowd is out in force on this repair.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Chiodetti says:

    Avoca smoka time!
    Multiple parts, step by step!
They got the right guy on this vehicle.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Oscar Jones says:

    Wooo!!! Go Eric!!!

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Warren Zevon's Angry Ghost says:

Pa = Pascal. 1 Pascal = the force of 1 Newton over 1 square meter. Pretty low force. 10,000 Pa = 1.45 psi, thus it's more common to use hectopascals (100pa) or kilopascals (1000pa).

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tom The Plummer says:

So for our friends who live and drive in the rust belt, which is worse mag-chloride or sodium chloride? 🧐

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steven Rice says:

2012? Check fuel cap? My bet is on the leak detection pump and the janky little arm in there.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard Vastine says:

Can't say it enough. Education and entertainment done by an ethical caring modest professional. Thanks Mr. O for the videos and thanks to Mrs. O for tolerating all the time spent on giving us these videos. Well done!

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tom The Plummer says:

…she sucked and blew…then we fixed the tire. Does wind suck or blow? Is a vacuum also a pressure pump?

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars springfield45 says:

You make it sound so easy.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rob Curtis says:

Another great video can't wait for part 2 thanks

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars a4000t says:

WOW, a Dodge that the dash hasn't crumbled to dust!🤣🤣

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Lance Corey says:

Pa stands for Pascals. 1 atmosphere is 101300 Pa. The weather channel would report this as 101.3 KPa.

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tee says:

The garbage 5.7 engine but then again its Chrysler junk

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tim Gruver says:

God, I wish there was just one guy in Amarillo like Eric O. These sorry bastardized here just throw parts at it to up their commission pay on parts. Toyota is the champ at this.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kevin K says:

Evap you got to love lol not my 08 Silverado had evap code after running the air Nozzle on Canister all good years later

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars happy543210 says:

It has a high failure rate.
    Which part?
    The whole truck!

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeremy Scott says:

Just a heads up, on chrylers with the wiitech you can go under misc. functions and do a small evap leak test. It's an automated test that's helpful to point you in the proper direction.

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars fixed game says:

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ivan Olsen says:

this was a good reminder to never forget the potential of the DREADED green PUSS … all the discovery of said … needed here was a sound affect … any ideas on that ?

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Yawwee Shalimar says:

I'm sticking around for part II of this adventure !!!!!! Don't want to wait a week, now !!!!! Chop chop !!!!!

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jason Marks says:

its the Limited "duct" edition. (tape not included)

  50. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jim Harmon says:

Eric, Pa – the unit, named after Blaise Pascal, is defined as one newton per square metre. In you case it is 73 Pa for the fuel tank pressure. But I am sore you new that. No pressure!

  51. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Smith says:

Of course, new doesn't mean good.

  52. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Major Payne says:

DiElectic for electrical connections maybe help with the corrosion from road chemicals?

  53. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Bazinet says:

You kiss your wife and kids with that mouth?! 😛

  56. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Don R. says:

NOOOOO! Not a two parter on a Saturday night! We are the microwave generation, we want what we want when we want it; now.😂 Oh well, guess it’ll give us something to look forward to next week. But that gas cap sure looked hinky

  57. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scooter Tramp says:

Pa stands for the metric pressure system using Pascales. 1 Pascal is equal to 0.000145038 PSI. For a quick conversion to PSI divide the Pascales by value by 6895. 73/6895 = .0106 PSI.

  58. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Zak k says:

I'm gonna say what we are all thinking.. the guy (or girl) with the air ratchet needs to go electric

  59. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars patrick cowan says:

Dodge's are dodgy, chevy for the win.
Buddy bought one and luckily got the extended warranty, $30,000 in work within a year and a half of factory warranty expiring.

  60. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Lenoir says:

Dang Skippy I love it cannot believe it on a cruise and on that connection it is supposed to be weather tight that is unreal

  61. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars michelediane miller says:

The last couple of videos I trouble hearing Eric when he is talking, I have to really crank up tv volume to hear what you are saying. Other videos sound is normal. Thanks for another great diag Mr.O!!

  65. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ivan Olsen says:

when he said he replaced the fuel cap …. he didn't say it was new …… by any chance

  66. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars anthony cantando says:

Had the same issue with my 2016 ram 2500 turns out one of them roll over valve fittings were cracked

  67. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dan's Learning Curve says:

  68. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Terry Reid says:

Part 11 is labeled as not available, private

  69. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Spinonemaster says:

Chrysler and Dodge should have offered a built in on board smoke machine for these crappy evap systems … and give you a supply of extra hoses, purge valves, connectors and fittings considering the high failure rate …the amount of money and time spent on them since inception is criminal

  70. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Shellhaas says:

Thank you Eric for a great informative video. Appreciate it

  71. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Evan Davis says:

Looking forward to the next one

2009-2018 Chrysler came standard with the evap CEL glowing after 50k😂

  73. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Alan Crawford says:

    Pressure Atmospheric?

  74. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars GeneSun says:

I've been doing this for 45 years and I have to wonder>
If we took all of the money the OEM's and consumers have spent on auto emissions systems since 1978, and used that money on cleaning up industrial pollution, such as coal fired power plants, did the money get spent wisely?
    An honest question!

  75. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Clint Price says:

Eric, your ability to get to the root cause of electrical issues is second to none. You’re too humble to admit it so I’ll state it for you. If only there were Eric O’s all over, the public wouldn’t be firing the expensive parts cannon often.

  76. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars don keyballs says:

Give it a smoke test & be done with it, easy fix 😎

  77. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars spelunkerd says:

These systems always seem to be a little more complex than I expect. I wish service data was a little more explicit regarding how each of the valves work. Even the pressure of a smoke machine can close valves that you may expect to be open.

  78. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Thomas Jefferson says:

Did you do sucky sucky or blowy blowy. Need to know since this is a very technical scenario. Oh and thanks again for the Super Troopers references.

the one day mrs O is gone eric is making out with a dodge

  80. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Thomas H says:

And I looked at the SMA merch to get a tshirt but no pockets.
What do you call a tshirt with no pocket?…..

    A rag – Eric O.

  81. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bill Thrasher says:

I had a stuck open purge reading -300Pa. I thought that was major. turns out -300pa is about .08 inHg

  82. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Thomas H says:

If ya look on your tire pressure gauge there’s psi in Freedom Units and kpa in metric.
    KiloPascals.

  83. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars No more Lies says:

I'am waiting for your first electric car repair video.

  84. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ryan Bond says:

    Hotmail???🤣 Is that still around?

  85. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Louis Harris says:

I really hate dodge EVAP systems

  86. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars R Peary says:

PA would be Pascals, and SI unit for pressure, equivalent to 0.000145 PSI.

  87. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Wayde Wynn says:

I think it’s the gas cap.

  88. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeff Delano says:

Yes you are a blow hard good job keep it up I learn so much from you thanks 🙏

  89. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Roger R says:

Kept getting “check/tighten gas cap” after having mechanic do some gen maintenance, found that he spilled some BG-44k on surface that cap mounts to. After cleaning it and cap really well things are all good again. Enjoy your vids, 👍👍

  90. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Focused Electronics says:

Even a sat night video? Awesome!

  91. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scott Marshall says:

Non stock bed there. I'd take a good look at the filler neck and fueling vent line. She might be a bit hacked….

  95. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Brittingham says:

    Sweet, just poured a bourbon.

  96. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard Warnock says:

Chrysler dodge Leakey EvaP yeap Green Crusty's dropped for Sure that's another Yeap!!!; )

  97. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeff Dayman says:

Pa is the humble Pascal unit. 30 psi is roughly 100 kPa or kilopascals

  98. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shuken Flash says:

Pa is pascals, 73 of them would be like 0.01psi roughly
