Up here in Canada we buy 5 gallon buckets of anti seize, just before winter, remove every bolt and nut under the car, including exhaust bolts, wheel bearing hubs etc, coat everything with anti seize, then, take the last 3 gallons and a paint brush and coat everything under the car half way up the doors, and coat the door hinge bolts too, just do this every year and you will get more years out of your car.

What’s a reasonable number of shop hours for a shop to charge on this job. Everywhere I called in my area says 3.5 hours.
Looks like you did it in less than one…
Kicker? They all want between 550 to 900 to do the job (1200$ at the dealer)

Half way thru this video – I've determined it is easier to "crack open my wallet" than blow 4 days on a DIY adventure.

You are bad ass. Plain and simple don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Even though your running a "legit shop" you are speaking clearly to the back yard mechanics like myself who hate to pay anybody else for something they're fully capable of with the right tools. Thank you for the tips shared in video and the humor is also much appreciated. Keep doing your thing man just subbed 👍

Just wanted to confirm something here: On these 4wd CR-V's the rear ABS doesn't use a CV-mounted tone ring, but rather metal cuts in the wheel hub that pass within proximity of the wheel speed sensor? Thanks in advance if you're able to answer because I noticed that when I bought a new pair of CV axles, they didn't have ABS rings on them.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars na an says:

Could you explain how "you determine" ride height before you finally tighten everything up? You have mentioned this on other videos as well as shown the technique with the floor jack. Is it an actual pre and post measurement from axel nut, factory specification, or voodoo secret? Thank you.

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Surname says:

Are you sure that the axle won’t come out with the upper control arm bolt removed and the lowers intact?

you definitely have the best most fun job in the world ….. myself having been through university and from there into a highly technical med/sci career which was full of hubris, backbiting, squabbling, mountainous molehills, and fights over parking spaces, i often wish some mentor had pointed out early on that there is more than one career option and career path in life

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars cardo says:

The sound of the pick scraping the bearing retention clip recess, is now considered a desirable ASMR trigger.

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark Ash says:

Love the brake cleaner music. It basically turns the the video into an Italian coming of age story about a boy and his brake cleaner. 😉

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hazen Dismukes Jr. says:

If you take a piant marker to mark the cam. Position the alignment could be there also but you can check it anyway

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Wade Smith says:

I’ve noticed you seem to remove the components on vehicles so they need aligned afterwards when there are sometimes easier options that don’t require alignment. Is this to throw business to the other area of the shop

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joseboquitas Delacoronilla says:

The way I loosen them up is, using a braking bar, with a pipe at the end and pull, it usually brakes loose the toughest bolts. Having said that you are good at what do you, thanks for making the video.
