It's not poorly designed. It's designed exactly the way it was intended to be…for the owner to prefer taking it to the dealership to spend four hundred bucks for a job that should cost you only the hundred bucks or so for the battery because a battery swap is normally one of the easiest repairs you can do on your car.
Thanks for the video. I was looking to see if I was missing anything in my battery swap on a 2007. As for the negative terminal, people can disconnect it from in side the engine compartment where the lead comes in from that dammed battery. If they want. Thanks for the video…wish I had a lift 😆
I own a2008 sebring convertible and the batteries don't last longer than 2 to 3 years. I watched your video and thought are you f…in kidding me. Great engineer pun at the start
I've never been a car guy, I'm a computer guy, so when I bought my 2008 sebring just a couple years ago I didn't know anything about all the "special" placements of parts rofl. I had to have the alt replaced earlier this year and now I think the battery needs changed. This video has helped me a lot in determining my next vehicle rofl.
Mr o what is this job cost of the average consumer? I did it my driveway unbelievable pain in the nuts for something I can do in my other car in 3 minutes
I had to do that on my father’s 2007 Sebring. You think they would have designed it to have the negative cable on the outside so you could remove it first and replace it last.
Low-mileage convertibles of this model usually only garner a few thousand bucks – guess the word is out on the street that they are complete pieces of garbage……😂
Great video! I need to change the battery in our 08 sebring convertible. Makes sense they would put the battery there, they need the room for all that horsepower under the hood😂😂
I don't think the engineers were laughing after all the underhood work was done and then they realized there was no battery . More like OHHH shizzlestiks where are we going to put it , when one guy stood up and said " there is still 34 cubic inches left behind the drivers fender"
Stupidest place to place a battery. I totally regret buying my 2006 Chrysler Sebring. Especially now that the battery is dead!
Awesome how to video!

Absolutely ridiculous

I have the same car and the group size says 26 at 525cca but I was wondering would it be a problem if I put in a 26r 540 CCA?
Wow. My son has one. This is what happens when you let a Crack Head Design a car before having a place for the battery. 😂
All that for a battery!!!!!

All this fuckin trouble to change a battery os stupid as fuck. Pure ignorance to do this in the first place.
Chrysler Corp is so stupid for putting batteries where you have to take the damn wheel off WTF

Wow! Never would have guessed to look there! I have learned so much from videos like this. Mahalo!
Good video from start to finish
Eric you have to remember the people that design the cars don't repair them.
HOLY CRAP MR O. $60 BATTERY $300 labour ?? love your work cheers blackwater Queensland Australia
Am I correct there is no place on the car to get a jump?
On My 2004 sebring battery is in the same spot but the guy who replaced it said they had to take off the bumper to get to it.
This is a perfect example of Chrysler stupidity
Now, that's one dumbazz place to stick a battery!
I have a 2007 Sebring and I know it sucks !!
Hmm… I'm thinking cutoff wheel to the bumper
Why in the name would a battery be located there.
I own a Sebring convertible, and I think, engineers who construct such a shit should be tarred and feathered.
Mr o what is this job cost of the average consumer? I did it my driveway unbelievable pain in the nuts for something I can do in my other car in 3 minutes
walmart told me if i buy a battery from them they replace for free i said ok have at it..
…almost as bad as a Subaru timing belt….!
Did this today thanks for the video !

Is it the same battery as the 2005?
Great video. Yes, sometimes you pull the positive cable first. Very stupid design, battery would have been better in the trunk…
i found an easier way. take the front grill and headlight off and slide the battery forword
What ridiculous engineering.
Someone should have their ass kicked. Multiple times.
Will never buy that car.
Thanks for posting this video.
On a side note…….I guess this is why so many mechanics say to avoid buying Chrysler products.
Low-mileage convertibles of this model usually only garner a few thousand bucks – guess the word is out on the street that they are complete pieces of garbage……😂
My thought is its April 1st…..ICE in April, it can happen!
Dear Chrysler, this is a good enough reason to NEVER buy one of your cars.
Worst design ever… Might as well change your brakes, since it’s jacked up with the tire off.
Great video! I need to change the battery in our 08 sebring convertible. Makes sense they would put the battery there, they need the room for all that horsepower under the hood😂😂
I miss my Nissan Altima

Thanks for being easy to listen to and to the point! Great vid!
Another good reason not to buy Dodge/Chrysler.
they could of at least made it with the negative post on the side you can get to.
That is like seeing a rooster making sweet, sweet love to a duck.
Strange, awkward, and not quite right. And also questions… so many questions.
As per the mechanic at the Dodge/Chrysler dealership – this is the WORST engineered car ever made.
“Sir we forgot the battery”
“Just stick it in a empty spot”
How in the hell did you take those plastic clips off. I'm completely stumped. Looked like you used a screwdriver which makes no sense looking at mine
Just did this job on my 07.. I'm impressed by how clean the hold downs are on this car.. I broke 2 bolts on mine and wanted to cry. Stupid engineers..
