So what were you wrong about?

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Don's Junkmail says:

Have you gone back and forth on that speed bump 60 times
to hear exactly a noise location? I know your that good.

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars zyrein 2004 says:

Didn't hear anything because the rust resealed it

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Black III says:

Anti-seize won't cook off of that hardware and will allow for longevity.

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Daniel Hylton says:

I have never worked on someone else's exhaust , but this does not keep me from commenting!

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Wayne Wayne says:

    Needs a new muffler bearing………🤣🤣🤣🤣

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars arthur lull says:

Saw comment about almost losing a valve…feed rope through spark plug hole turn motor by hand to hold valves up👍🏻

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Madow says:

I used to live in MA 20 years ago and we have a union shop garage that has a policy "we will not fixed or weld the muffler" Every time the car pull in the, the whole muffler inspection system will resulted into a sale of a replacement of the whole exhaust system from Catalytic converter to the whole tail pipe that run around $250.00 back in 1980-1987. Also, if the vibration noise was from manifold to catalytic convertor the shop will sale you a new manifold and pipe to catalytic convertor which was $400.00. I owned 3 car in MA and have to spend $250.00 every year for new system even there is no damage to the pipe just only bracket like what you did in this video.

the undercarriage of that vehicule looks like one from canada after a first winter lol

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Stephen says:

I'd bet the truck was exposed to ocen water.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Tutty says:

That joint is meant to move to prevent the pipes from cracking. The old Volvo 240 has quite a bit of engine movement, and since the exhaust is offset, the down pipe tends to snap just down stream of the joint where the pipe goes 2 into 1. That downpipe is a rotten thing to have to fix. Expensive, too. I took care of it by having a muffler shop install a flex pipe.

    Always bang it twice

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Herminio Aponte says:

I hope the ower gave you a tip for saving him big bucks

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Larry Cox says:

Another awesome diagnosis and repair. PS: I agree with increasing the clamping force by adding the washers. The joints between exhaust pipe sections should be tight to avoid leaks, spring pressure is not enough. Just my opinion. Thank you, Ray (from my computer chair in the security of my heated room).

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jim Schuyler says:

Sounds like its starving for fuel, I notice the action on the gas pedal and the lack of power.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars M Walker says:

A nut on one side and 2 washers on the other? Now we know you're not actually OCD.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pezzullo says:

yeah man, that's what I have to watch out for up here when buying an older vehicle!

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeff Nottellingyou says:

I'm in Toronto, my 7yr Santa fe is oil sprayed every year, not a speck of rust on the undercarriage

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jason Kuehl says:

Every time I've said "this will be a nice, easy fix", it wasn't nice or easy. 😦

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jaakko Fagerlund says:

That spring will now fail at a tremendous speed as it is 'bottomed out'. Springs do not like to be pushed to their max bending capacity and these were old crusted ones to begin with. But, availability of parts, cheapness of the customer, dunno?

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Earl Holcomb says:

I really like your videos you're very thorough on what you do you do what you can to save the customer the big load of money but I know sometimes it's almost impossible

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jerry E. Hamby says:

Must have came from near the beach

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars pillsburied says:

That is indeed an annoying sound—particularly if you're hearing it through a wall.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Hudick says:

Remember the part about "objective reasoning" and "common sense"? Why would the designers of that exhaust system use spring pressure to keep those fasteners at the correct tension IF they didn't want the joi8nt to flex a bit?? Bolted up tight would have done that!

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Samuel Pankonien says:

Gotta watch for the double layer pipe beat way to fix it is burn a hole in the first layer and then weld the second layer to the first

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Owner Operator says:

I'm surprised that Ray went shade tree on this one.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars PittyPatterPutZZler says:

Hi would you like to make some extra cash sending classic cars to Germany? Mercedes, Porsche or ford mustang, any thing exotic. If you find a mint condition car with low mileage for a good price tell me what you charge for inspection and commission. Could also do a cut of the sales price instead.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Fred Zoidburg says:

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Two Beers says:

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Adam L says:

I have a 2005 Lexus RX that was doing the exact same thing. They changed the gasket, and it was still rattling. I wish my mechanic is as good as you. Great job!

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pumpup Jam says:

Your driving a TOYOTA, not a GMC, SATURN, AND OTHER VEHICLES!

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Old Nightrun says:

These idiots think you just have wave a magic wand and all is fixed.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars EBay Jimmy Oakes says:

If I had seen that on my car after going to a mechanic is would say what the actual f**k.A nut one side and washers the other. Why not put washers both sides. Not to sound like a cry baby but there needs to be a little bit of pride taken in your job even if it is only a mechanic

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Captain Chaos says:

What's the purpose of those springs? Why not a regular nut and bolt connection?

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Allan Mc Gonigle says:

You are truly inspirational. Love your work and work ethic.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Randy Stoffel says:

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars william lanphar says:

I am from near Detroit and yes…I think you are fortunate to not have to deal with the ever-present rust situation that is here.

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shawn McCall says:

No your gloves are nasty you didn’t remove them. I would be upset because I keep my car spotless including my steering wheel. First time I caught you doing that Your still an amazing guy but don’t do that lol

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jerry jerry says:

Rust is the enemy of all vehicles but seems to be the weakest link on Toyota's. Seems like you can drive them until they crumble apart.

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tim Gillis says:

It's actually supposed to move, it's spring loaded to allow for that rather then using a flex pipe. With over tightening the joint using springs you are running the risk of developing a crack in the front pipe. It will also allow exhuast gases to escape if the second converter plugs up.
