Let it ride!
full lights and 400k, decline
Too many miles, sixes too. Do not repair and drive it till it dies. Dash Is lit up like a Christmas Tree. 2007……. not worth a +/- $500 repair
Lube "you're"? 😖
Let it ride
Let it ride
My guess is they will fix it
Let it ride
Probably died of the Black Death.
If Ray knows where that Rig was goin he is definitely a mind reader…😏
Let it ride. Classic!!
Based on the turning signal light, and all the other warning signs….ya, they were going to let it ride.
My 2005 F250 6.0 was having this same issue, and my mechanic pulled the orifice tube first to find is mostly blocked with metal shavings, so I had to get a new compressor and condenser for $1800 total out the door.
Riding all the way lol
i bet the owners of the f150 will be like nah no need to fix it its high which means more cooling pressure ……
TikTok plug? Guess you just want that Commie cash. Sad to be that greedy, Lebron.
I saw that TikTok video I laughed my ass off, running a shop for 20 years, I just couldn't believe what I saw. From good old Milwaukie Oregon, You're a good guy Ray, stay cool brother
My bet is let it ride
What do you do with the refrigerant that you recover from a customer's A/C system?
Anyone else notice how the trans temp gauge is pegged?
So what happened to the dodge?
I have a 2017 Ram 3500 dually. After having new tires put on it I developed a horrible vibration at 76-80 mph. It’s silky smooth before that. I’ve just been keeping it under or dealing with it.
It would’ve been much simpler just to use a black light on the water that drains from the evaporator, on the floor. If the system has dye of course.
Car Wizard had a sure fire test for that test you did after the vehicle sat overnight. Use a UV light on the puddle of water UNDER the vehicle.
I think they will let you fix this one
The AC should get colder as you drive the engine will spin the pump faster making it colder quicker
How many drivers know that when the turn signal indicator hyper flashes that is a notice that at least one bulb is blown out on that side of the vehicle….I’ve known for almost 40 years.
Let it ride!
"Get used to the "Let it Ride" scenario for the foreseeable future.
Always give the Peso Generale truck the right of way!
Let it ride
No need to leave him negative comments he's sharing his experience with us if u don't like it then don't watch
Let it ride 😊
this a certified let it ride moment
Again a fail, the fan clutch is the cause of the high pressures, you proved that by cooling the condenser artificially. The compressor was crying for oil, you could have spared it and Oz or two. You should have left the Ford off while you test drove the Dodge, then come back and then attempted to get your leak detector near the evaporator drain and been more effective in your leak test. (You really should have been looking hard at everything on the high side, 450psi tends to make things leak!) Releasing the vehicle back to the customer as you did, is only going to cause the failure of the compressor in short order. ( By the way, testing outlet temperature while on recirculate with low fan is the scumbag car lot version of performance testing, you should be on high fan, outside air , hood up sucking hot engine air, heat loading the shit out of the system, if you can get correct pressures and cold sweaty low side lines under those conditions, you will have a system that is "hurt your fingernails cold" with the hood down moving in traffic.) Your judgement that the truck was worn out, not worth repairing was also likely unfounded, firstly a vehicle doesn't get to 360K miles with out some serious love and maintenance, and I could see lots of new cooling system parts. The job could have been sold in good faith, with a fan clutch, service valves, a drink of refrigerant oil, and evac and recharge. But once again you failed for the customer and you failed for the shop!
send it!!
i could have called that from a mile away if it aint broke why fix it
On the up side, the dash lights work well!
Torque wrenching the Schroeder valves. Lol. Loved it. 👍🏻
366K on the odometer and the AC is putting out 39 degree air ! If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Tell the customer to bring it back in another 366K miles.
Onward and upward (mileage)…
Fissit…
I'd say no, junk it.
Grab the UV light and look at the condensation dripping on the ground if there is UV. It'll show up in the condensationthat hits the floor
Personally, I NEVER take a vehicle out on a test drive when the red brake light is on. It signals that either brake fluid is low or parking brake is on fully disengaged.
with all those problems they will not want to pay to fix with that mileage
Going for a "Let it ride" guess
Aren't your videos more enjoyable after you press the Subscribe button? 🤷♂
Great teaching video. Thank you. Also that shraeder valve is jumping like a grasshopper, lol
What happened with the 2nd opinion truck?
My bet: They let it ride
let it ride?
Tip from the Car Wizard. Shine a black light in the condensate on the floor, if the evap is leaking you'll see the dye in the puddle.
You can also run your uv light at the evaporator condensation drain ( the condensation on the floor) to find a leak in the evaporator.
I like that Ford to dodge to Ford switch I didn't realize it till the end of the vid
How much is a gas fill in the US? In Sweden it's about 150 USD.
Modern machines in Europe test the system both by vacuum and by building up air pressure. Some leaks can't be find with vacuum.
Nice diagnosis on the wobbling from trans/torque converter!
Dang 366k on the clock what a UNIT.
There must be a big blockage somewhere for the pressure to to be that high I think it’s a no
You trying to play the separation game…
I'm curious what your freon leak detector sounds like when it detects what's sniffing out?
Also do you occasionally test the detector to make sure it works properly?
Ok. Just toss the filter in oil? LOL I pre oil mine but not like that.. LOL
They’re gonna LET IT RIDE, Ray!
I guessed, “let it ride” and I think it’s the right decision. Run it till something else breaks and call it a day with that truck
Always a first! I've NEVER seen you use a torque wrench on anything
based on the plethora of other issues I'm going to choose ' let it ride' .
If The Dodge is 4×4 it's the front driveline.
It's gonna be LET IT RIDE!
I figured they would let it ride lol Nice guess Wonder what happened with the ram was it torque converter shutter ? Good video as always Ray @Rainman Ray's Repairs
U joints
Putting the ac system in a vacuum Also boils off and cleans anything left in the system @Rainman Ray's Repairs
I say no to the fix. Maybe the ac, but that's it. That depends on estimate.
Fix it
I think there going to let it ride Bro @Rainman Ray's Repairs
refrigerant doesn't have a smell… in larger systems its the oil you can smell but doubtful in a small system like that
Let it ride!
Let it ride!
I'm learning a lot about this AC system , went to a car mechanic all of them never even bother saying the valve need replacement everyone of them suggested full AC replacement without even diagnosing, now I can use this knowledge and video to show mechanic that tries to cheat their customer, you're a saviour.
My bet is let it ride…..
Considering the purpose of the vehicle, the owners decisions seem valid. Great video Ray.
2 mins in… It's a "let it ride"
"If you did not enjoy the video…" etc. Love it!
He will totally fix it, it’s got almost half 1,000,000 miles on it, clearly he loves that truck, that’s my guess
AT&T ADSL Tier 1 tech support is calling you from OPFL
Let it ride!
Super slowmo on the valve spitting money shot would have been hilarious
What about removing the cabin filter to check for leaks in the evaporator?
Did you change the green o-rings on the compressor lines? Needed to be changed for the same reason as the Schroeder valves.
All other issues aside, I pity the techs that have to work on the newer trucks that are super tall. Reaching into the engine bay would be near impossible!.
The science behind auto mechanics is awesome. I'm an electrician and I truly respect your knowledge and expertise. However, we should both respect the knowledge and expertise of our local plumbers. (I've kinda got a septic situation going on.😜✌️👍
If the dodge 2500 was towing a lot of weight. I bet the flex plate is flexing 💪& the converter is toast.
Ray, odd question. You may have answered it before. But did you go to college? I just started a new job at an independent shop after working at 3 dealerships no college. Just wanting to see if I can be successful.
How he got a 5.4l triton to 366k mi is beyond me
Let it ride? LOL more like let it die!
3 mins 33 seconds in. Let it ride.
They aren't going to want to do every thing that should be done lol
Junk it
I have never used a freon recovery machine. Does the old freon go into a separate tank, or does it mix into the new freon?
