What oil additive cleaner are you using?
Great to learn something new, about a system cars didn't have when I worked on them.
Back in 2002, me and my mechanic friend did an engine swap, on a 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis. Everything was good except for black smoke coming out of the exhaust. Me and my “ ex” mechanic friend didn’t know, what was the problem. I took it to my mechanic, I left it there, in three hours I got a call that the car was good. Two of the suction hoses were reversed, this mechanic knew, what was the problem, way before, I left my car there. He calls me, i went over there, he charged me 40 bucks. About 64 bucks today. He was my “ trusted” mechanic for 14 years. He was a good mechanic, but not trustworthy.I look at this guy’s video’s he’s very honest, with the customer. Just an oil problem.
Is a cleaner a flush? if they're different, what's the difference? I wanted to see the draining, why you cut it off, is so satisfying. Why you don't show the Scan Tool collected data? incomplete video
ALWAYS check oil level BEFORE you do a testdrive
Need more educated mechanics like you out there.
I can see the first problem it is a Chevy
Seems to be running cold. Thermostat open, running rich?
So funny that this particular video came up on my recommends, my daughters car had the same issue , she let her oil get low and she lucky, same day I scanned her car she got an oil change and the light turned off the next day. Before she went out into the wild I did teach her how to change oil and to put on a spare tire if she needs to.
With that mileage on the vehicle, I would imagine it is still under manufacture warranty.
Good job man
Ray, when I worked for Firestone they would have recommended plugs, wires, all coils, trans flush, O2 sensors, cat converter, brake fluid flush, power steering flush, speed sensor, and about $1000.00 dollars of needless other nonsense. When the car would come back, a wiring harness that caused a whole bunch of other failures. Possibly snuck in the oil change which of course not appear on any paperwork. Thus, my tenure was short. They are the worst thieves I have ever encountered. My opinion.
IMPORTANT! REMOVE TAG BEFORE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION!
I have a turboed 1.5l 1nzfe in my scion and it’s fun for a little motor
What cleaner did you add to the engine oil?
Great content on all of your videos. Thank you
Mike T
Ray help!!! I have a 08 Cadillac CTS 3.6l di with a p0008 code. I’m wondering could it be the VVT solenoid? The engine runs strong with no other codes coming up when I clear this code, however, it comes back and I can feel the difference in engine performance
** Was this the brother of the other guy who seized up his engine, stating he never changed the oil?
I am here for the do da do da doos and lumens and gravity, I would watch you rotate the air in the tires you are so entertaining.Compliment CLICK
Would an over fill condition present the same issue? I have a 2012 outlander sport with vitamin. 90 miles after an oil change I got a low oil pressure light. Checked the oil and it was over full. Was about 5 miles from home so I continued down the road. About a mile later the check engine light came on. I don't remember the exact codes but I believed the definition was timing more advanced than expected. Took it back to the dealer that did the oil change and they tried to sell me 3 sensor. The oil pressure sending unit and an exhaust and intake vvt sensor. Since it's odd for 3 sensors to go bad at the same time I decided to take it for a second opinion. The car didn't make it and has been sitting ever since. Had another garage tell me it needs a new motor cuz the timing jumped. The car has 70k miles.
An engine throwing inaccurate codes which could cost $$$ would benefit from a low oil sensor.
Obvious you have a MFG preference. Chevrolet is the only manufacture's name you pronounce correctly. Fird, Doedge, and all that. I am a Ford guy. I really don't like the Browns(Chevy). GM is General junk, IMO. I'm just a Ford guy.
Terrific job Ray.
It's so important to check your oil weekly and change it every 3000 to 5000 miles ESPECIALLY if you have a small turbocharged engine.
Anything GM or Chevrolet is just garbage. You will rarely see Honda or Toyota.
Yes, Ray. Put on your seatbelt. Ask DeiselTech Ron. He was killed on a test drive by a drunk driver a couple years ago.
Hey Ray, HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!
Wow/Outstanding!
Brother You are Great.
God Will Bless You
For Your Honesty
Take Care!
We have the same car….i change the oil 3-6k mi…. Oils cheap. Easiest oil change ive ever done.
Outside of European models and vehicles that call for 0w-16, most vehicles oils specs can be met by a synth blend, even dexos. Ergo, most non-European dealers will use a synth blend except for vehicles with 0w-16. That is if they even do the oil change. My last dealer oil changes were on a 2017 VW and a 2015 GMC. In the VW case they forgot the sticker, in the GMC case the oil was black way before the oil life expired – and they way over torqued the oil pan bolt. So I sit and I wonder. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR DIPSTICK RIGHT AFTER SOMEONE ELSE DOES AN OIL CHANGE. Especially if you are running long intervals.
Before i work on anybodies car
I have them stand there next to the car and tell me everything that i should know about the car.
Then i check all the car fluids possible at that time.
Then we go test drive the car to try and recreate the problem. If it grenades on me they cant blame it on me.
I do believe its a design fault if the valve timing is upset by a low oil condition before the low oil light comes on as surely the low oil light should be warning of an impending condition rather than one that already exists!
It’s amazing how new car owners don’t realize there is this thing in the glove box called an owners manual that states regular maintenance is required!! And you can’t fix lazy or ignorance! Just my opinion
The other problem is that people don't train themselves to do basic knowledge of the car there driving they just buy the car and drive until something goes wrong and then leave themselves wide open to be taken advantage of by unscrupulous mechanics.
Man if this was anyone else working on his car they would have told him he needed a new this and that costing him an arm and leg no doubt about it.
Love your videos
And my neighbors ask why I always check my oil condition and level every week 😒
Positive comment for the YouTube algorithm
A shady auto repair shop would have the engine apart already! $$$$$
What kind of cleaner are you pouring into the engine. I need some for my beater and just curious.
its running on fumes
Typical chevy build quality. Why do people keep buying garbage?
Doing a good job and a good deed for the customer.. thumbs up for your diagnosis👍
Oil pressure is so important these days. Not only timing, but chain tensioners and other mechanical parts. ps OIL CHANGES ARE INTERESTING!!!! :0
Ray l do love the extra words you put in that are not in the English Oxford dictionary. Maybe you could write them down and send them to be entered into the dictionary.Keep them coming as they add to my education and prog. Love it 😃. Great vids Ray , honest views and happy customers. You have a great day👍🇬🇷
It pissss me off that so so many car companies have copied Toyota 1.5 liter engines and try too boost it up with a turbo and more fuel pressure and ends up then a disaster like Honda and it’s 1.5 engine it’s has problems with gas getting in the oil and destroying the engine
As a tech for many years, I would listen to what someone said and VERIFY IT FOR MYSELF! When I was learning from someone who was a good tech, I would always ask them, what made you try that .
No bullshit that people just like that box truck that you threw fuel filters on it and it didn’t need it and it actually needed a push pump you’re just a parts changer
You’re using the garbage cleaner if he was old school technician you would know just use ATF that will clean it faster automatic transmission fluid is full of the target it will clean the engine quicker instead of that garbage they have on the market that doesn’t do nothing
Just found your channel, nice videos, Thanks. Subscribed.
VTEC WHAT BRAAAAAAAAPPP…lol
