Customer Customer States Mechanic Fails Engine Transmission Gas Diesel off road race 4x4 street car daily driver scam dealership dealer technician how to

So today was an interesting uh comment thread in the video: I'm uh, I'm in the middle of a project where I I had to put a set of injectors in an uh, what is it an lb7 Duramax an 0304 Duramax one of the earlier production models and during my tear down phase I had found a Uh set of injectors from a company out in Jacksonville Florida it's called Diesel Logic and I had some disparaging things to say about that because of things that I had read and there was in the price point that they were selling those units as and shortly after posting that video a couple of weeks ago I got a call from the Diesel Logic folks and they, uh, they were wondering where I was coming from. Perhaps I had some kind of personal ax to grind to get to the company which wasn't exactly the case I was just doing my normal ramble ramble action and uh, well anyway, so they called me cuz I naturally I upset somebody because I had some disparaging marks or remarks rather and Diesel Logic and myself had a a conversation in my office a couple weeks or about last week or so and they didn't agree with what I said obviously. so I decided it was probably best for all if I walked back a little bit on my statements or rather I gave them an opportunity to walk back or walk me back or change my mind rather and they invited out to their manufacturing facility in Jacksonville which again, that's uh, it's on the other side of the state I'm on the west coast of Florida and they're over on the east coast and uh, so it's not too far of a drive and we're going to go take a miniature field trip next week to Uh to go pay their their facility of visit because uh, the fellas at the marketing team had a lot of things to say about past products and past product reputation failure rates build quality, material selection things of that nature. And yeah, they did have a lot of negative feedback on the particular set of injectors that I had pulled out of this truck.

Now all of a sudden I look at my comment section today and I'm getting called a sellout or they think that uh I was paid to sort of change my position on the matter. Uh, I was told that uh, you know my career is over with because I'm going to get sued and I'm going to owe them every asset that I've ever acquired I Me you guys said a lot of nasty things which is so disheartening because I I make an attempt to do or to take a negative situation and turn it into a positive situation and then I I get personally attacked for it. Which is fine, we all get to have our opinions, but uh I felt that uh, well, that's why I'm here I want to make this video to just kind of talk about that a little bit more now. don't get get me wrong, I did push the issue somewhat heavily uh in my videos commentary which I will leave a link to those videos down in this video's description if you guys want to go back and hear what I said uh I did push the negative issue uh, a little hard and naturally like I said I I did draw the attention of the company in question which I think is a fantastic opportunity both for them myself and for you guys for everyone to get the record straight.
hence the invitation uh out to their manufacturing plant which uh, naturally I I immediately jumped on that because that's an opportunity to do something a little bit different I get to meet some people and we all get to have a uh, sorry I'm pumping gas right now but we all get to have and experience the point of view from the other party in question. So having said all that, I don't see how what I said today turns me into a sellout or how that's going to make me, uh, turn into a shill for this other company or anything like that. I don't see why we have to look at everything in the most negative light possible there walking back out I went in the store. so for example, if I were to take B of these corn dogs right here and spit the corn dog out and say oh, that's gross Racetrack gas station has the worst uh, corn dogs I've ever had Just because RAC Trck might not like that, That doesn't mean Racetrack gets to sue me because I said I don't like their corn dogs.

Furthermore, if I were to publish that opinion and then say this is what I read or say in my opinion, then Racetrack again really does not get to sue me. So everybody jumping the gun in the comment section today talking about how much of a a POS I am because I had an opinion based on the information available to me at the time doesn't warrant sellout, shill, or lawsuit Behavior that's just a difference in opinion and what diesel logic has done is offered the opportunity to me and to others to sway that opinion. That doesn't mean I'm going to sell all their products or I'm going to buy them all day long every day. Uh, it very well may change my mind and I could become a customer of theirs, but that's the reason for the invitation to the manufacturing facility.

Not everything that's a disagreement in this country has to end up in Civil War SL lawsuit or defamation or this and that that's just not how things like that work. You see, one would think that it would be an admirable quality for a person to admit that hey, I jumped the gun or I was wrong or you know, maybe I shouldn't have even said that, but that doesn't mean that person is a bad person for not being 1 billion per right the first time because that's just not how the human species functions. We don't work that way. We're not perfect beings and we do not have the ability to see into the future.

That doesn't mean that I was wrong. You know those folks might make subpar junk components. they might. they might do that.

But for all I know I've kind of taken a position of a one-sided argument and that's what I realized I was wrong about. So hence my effort I mean to, uh, my effort to go back and and allow the record to be corrected I Kind of just find it to be somewhat of a shame that we have to be so polarized in our opinions. Where you know 3 days ago or last week or whatever when I when I made the disparaging comments about those particular products that everyone's like yeah, screw those people, they're horrible. It's the worst company in the world.
But then I walk back my position slightly and now it's like oh, screw you Ray you're the most horrible person in the world like you can't You know, where's the where's the middle ground here? People like, we need to find middle ground because I think that that type of mentality and behavior has caused the citizens of the world a lot more trouble than than it has uh provided. Solutions And you know that's that's kind of my observation on the matter. That's how I feel about it and uh, that's that's what I would want to do. And and furthermore, if somebody said something negative uh, that affected me or my business and then later on decided that hey, you know, maybe you took it a little too far I would appreciate that person for them being honest with themselves.

Now having said all that, these corn dogs stck.

I don’t understand why a company that admitted an old version of their product had issues, listened to that feedback and made improvements, shouldn’t be given a fair chance to demonstrate what they did and why it is a much better product. Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

Of course, especially now-a-days, companies are "delicate" when it comes to criticism. May I suggest looking through Dale Carnegie's classic book of dealing with people, written in 1937. It has a horrible title, until you finish reading it, then it becomes an accurate title about kindness and communication.

Sounds like the people calling you a sellout or your going to get sued they need to go outside and touch grass. I was surprised about DL reaching out that shows they want to repair their rep and the best way to do that is reach out to people who dislike their stuff. Also you wanting to give them a second chance shows how good of a person and business owner you are.

Ray I’ve been watching for a looong time now. I’m not sure you even had broke 10k subs back then. I watched a few shop changes before the start of the future. I sent ya money when you hadn’t gone full mobile and way before brick and mortar, back when the hurricane came and your own yard was flooding. My point is that you’ve said a numerous of things from back then to now on so many many many topics. If this is the one thing that breaks the camels back for a handful of people, so be it. It doesn’t even deserve the energy or time. I thank you for taking the time to make this video but it’s not even worth the energy. You and Lauren are amazing souls and individuals. If you were broke and I had $50 in my wallet, we’d have $25 each.

And you are awesome (as usual) for keeping an open mind and taking the steps to be open to change. The world needs more of that.

You are fortunate that Diesel Logic apparently doesn't have hugely deep pockets. If they did, you would have heard not from marketing but from legal. Just be careful to clarify all critical opinions with "in my opinion" and end with "of course I could be wrong". GL! [ask me how I know]

Somebody fill me in on what happened here, I don't know what video it was in. He pulled apart the LB7 and found aftermarket injectors and they were no good so he expressed suspicion of their manufacturer? And then that manufacturer called him and made the offer? And was it stated that the old injectors were from a faulty batch or something?

  60. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @barlitone says:

For what it's worth, I appreciated the fact that you addressed your negative comments. A lot of YouTube presenters regurgitate negative things they've heard or read about companies, even when they have little to no experience with those brands themselves. I hear it in many videos I watch related to my hobbies (guns, musical instruments, cycling, etc.). I'm sure some of them would not bother to publicly admit that their comments were basically based on hearsay and Internet comments when confronted by the companies they bad-mouthed. Good on ya.

  64. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @ronwade5646 says:

You HAVE the video of their injectors in pieces, they fell apart inside the engine. Their products might be wonderful but this set are junk like so many of their injectors have been junk before! The biggest struggle mechanics and engine builders face today are JUNK NEW ENGINE PARTS. YOUR frustrations with their product, mirror YOUR Customer's frustration and every other customer and mechanic that's purchased their injectors due to POOR QUALITY injectors.

  65. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @imagseer says:

Ray, you're flying straight with this letting the manufacturer have an opportunity to show how they really do things. in a free market we can still order what they we like based on 'influencers' and 'fashionability', otherwise buyers would have to fight thru a blizzard of lawyers before they got to purchase anything 🙂

  66. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @toddtimms4774 says:

Hi Ray, I just wanted to thank you for your videos. I've been watching them since you were back at the old shop. I'm 60 now and remember working on cars when I was younger. I'm with you, not all rebuilds are the same. It's annoying when the don't change the bearings in motors and alternators. That's not rebuilt. The same goes for injectors I imagine. I started out in a junk yard, getting parts for people. I enjoy your videos, but I miss the phone ringing in the shop.. Doodley dooo.

we all have the right to sy what we whant about products .
and i agree with ray on it .. D L they ofert to go visite the fabrik plant to make a point that give the chance to reformulated a point of view on the products not a way to give free stuff or make a drama out of somthing so litle as personal note on a product .

my self working in the industry of manufactur for a well know company know well that not every one likes our product and will say so loud out but it dont mean that will go for a lawsuit no we invite thos person car maker in my case to comme visite and see how with what and who build the product they say is bad but also the other product they have never tested becaus of one faulty component or mishap with one of our products .

diesel logic make the best move here by saying hey man lissen comme visit our manufactory see all our line and products and recherche we put in to it may be you will change your mind about this at least give it a second tought .

ray make the best move by hey ok guys yes true may be i am or not right lets see .

now i read a lots over free stuff and its the reason of ect well let me say this FREE stus never change the mind of a custumer becaus if the first experince is bad they will not try a second time unless they have proof of it beter than last time .

givving free stuff is like buying a person to force him to say hey look they are great they give me this for free what is not the best way to show somme one he is wrong or not .

so guys ray have all the right to say his mind about the product and they dont like it ok lett them proof him wrong by letting him see all the line of production and ways they do things .

and yes all manufator have somme times a bad product in the asambely line no one is perfect its only the way you deal with it that show how good of a product person you are .

I think if your challenging the company and going to their facility to find more information and what not that is a good thing. I don't see anything wrong with a Mechanic and a company talking out an issue that once existed. People have forgotten that life is not black and white.. not everything is set in stone never to change.. people have gotten use to Instagram fast action right or dont exist type of mentality. Good on you for going that extra mile with the company to get the full story and not just the hyped-story.

Too much groveling. I think you are fine. You called someone out, they responded, and you responded. It is cool.

  73. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @brendadaniels3042 says:

It is so sad that people acted this way towards you. Keep strong and don't change. You're a beautiful person.

Good on you Ray give the manufacturer a chance to remedy the perception of the people about their products

  76. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @aleastwood1698 says:

You have a right to your opinion Ray F*#*K the people who are calling you down for changing your stance. The company has contacted you to set the record right they also have the right to fix any wrongs. Keep doing what you do Ray and keep us informed of sub standard parts Ray they guys that install parts day in and day out know whats good and what is not and if you feel the need to recant something you said then so be it you are the better man. keep up the good work. We all love you Ray.

    Good day to you, Ray.
I find it a highly admirable quality, when someone can freely admit that they are wrong or may be wrong.
Because Diesel Logic reached out to you after seeing you bash their product, it says a lot about their high opinion of you! I also think it's great that you are giving them and us the opportunity to visit their plant.
All being said, haters gonna hate, you have to rise above it and don't let them get you down. You do a great job fixing cars, making videos and teaching/entertaining us. Keep up the good work, Ray!

P.S. If you pinch your nose while eating those corn dogs, they don't stink as much! 😂

Good Onya Ray, truth be told i reckon we have all 'bagged' out someone or something probably more often than we care to admit eh … but to have the oppotunity to have things clarified is adult stuff eh lol nice one mate…

Ray, I am confident that you are a person of integrity and have an opportunity to make an educated evaluation of that company. Looking forward to your video(s) on this!!

  87. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @terryriley2758 says:

Don't listen to the naysayers, Ray. You're right, they're wrong, end of story. It's a great opportunity for a company that had a bit of a bad rep for an admittedly problematic product to show how they had addressed it, as well as an oppotunity for you and your viewers to reevaluate their opinion of the company. Win win.

  88. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @justinatchley9714 says:

It’s OK Ray you you still got me as a viewer because I’m not a little punk bitch pussy like everyone else on your comment thread. lol

    Ray.
You are so correct in your video today.👍👍👍🧻

  90. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @davidfarrish9000 says:

Right on Ray. We need a much kinder gentler approach that many don’t take today. Over the last few years it seems everyone is mad about something and take polarized approaches.
Well done Ray and well said.

Haters go start your own business and just wait for the unhappy customers you will get them. Almost any repair/rebuild enterprises have experienced a not so good time in there service history and negative feedback has caused them to improve their process and product I would ask you to look at Ford, Chevy and Dodge quality issues that many have experienced recently there are many you tube customer testimonies about how bad reliability, warranties overall quality have become in recent history and how dissatisfied with their quality and warrantee experiences .Presonally I use my late 90's ford 7.3 super duty as my gold standard of quality and reliability In put over. but there were several thing that could have been better.

We all make decisions based upon what we know, or can see at the time. The challenge is to admit to yourself that your decision may have wrong or your assumption is incorrect.
The point here is not whether you were right or wrong in what you said, but in how you respond when the injector company offers their view. In accepting their offer to allow them to demonstrate to you that not only did they become aware of the issues, but actively addressed and changed manufacturing processes to make an improved version, this is exactly the correct way forward. They may change your mind, they may not, but that’s not important, you have given them the opportunity to show their side on your channel. A chance for them to talk to those directly who themselves may have negative views based upon their own experiences, or the experiences of others, with a product which they admit wasn’t as good as it could have been. Kudos to both yourself & the injector company, I look forward to the upcoming visit being shown.

Ray you are a very talented honest mechanic who is trying to get the best quality and price for your customer. We all have our own opinions nobody needs to bash anyone. I like to hear your opinions about car parts and quality control. You are doing business the old way customers first. Keep up the awesome work.

I live in Australia, but still follow your channel, very interesting videos
Good on you for doing this video to try to correct the heters and the people that are always negative no matter what you do.

  96. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @akfireems says:

Ray, you're doing great. With the thousands of viewers, there are bound to be a few who are simply jealous of your success and have nothing better to do than to be negative. Keep up the good, honest work you do.

  97. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @brucecampbell3062 says:

We all check out what is said about products from their previous customers. We all base companies on that. We buy what everyone is happy with. Hate to say this, but too many type comments before thinking about the situation. Sad 😢

  98. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @jmjm003 says:

This is an opportunity for improvement. If a manufactuer is willing to listen to the end customer this can be a win win for everyone.

  99. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @michaelyounger4497 says:

Part of why I enjoy watching is that you are a level headed and intelligent guy. Plus its really nice to watch a master mechanic in action solving very complex problems. Don't get worked up about internet troublemakers trying to suck the joy out of everyone's life. I would just not want them in the community.. As the site creator and owner thats your choice.

  100. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @MarcAlan_ says:

My comment on the last video would have been that you should have offered the customer the offer from the company. But you said you will take the offer for one of your own truck for replacement injectors.
